I don't know if I like all the spelldamage from our shots.

Explosive shot: Fire damage (Yes I know ES and AS shares CD)
Arcane shot : Arcane damage
Black Arrow: Shadow damage

With Survival having both Explosive Shot and Black Arrow, we will have a problem at certain fights in the future, where a boss might be immune to either shadow or fire.

Am I the only one, who starts to get a bit worried about this change to survival hunters?

I like a LOT what blizz is making to the hunter class.

With 3 plate classes in the game, dealing only physical damage would make hunter's life hard unless they used....new spells with magical damage.

I just hope they follow that example with rogues. Shadow damage is an obvious choice to them, and that way they would have sume use aganist the ret pally and DK plague...

A little history on Black Arrow from www.wowwiki.com

Black Arrow used to be a hunter ability that existed in World of Warcraft beta, but was removed from the game before retail release. It slowed the target's speed by 70%, dealt 150 Shadow damage and drained 150 mana over 30 seconds. This was probably removed because it was too strong and would allow hunters to become extremely superior to many casters.

It was rumored that this ability dropped from mobs in Molten Core, in a similar manner to how Tranquilizing Shot was taught to hunters from a drop from the boss Lucifron.

It might seem as the target take 6% more dmg from everything that is attacking the target, this however is not the case.

Black Arrow Magic

All damage taken increased by 6%,
and 553 Shadow damage every 3 seconds.

The debuff says "All Damage taken increased by 6%", but if you read the tooltip on Black Arrow it says:

Black Arrow Fires a Black Arrow at the target, increasing all damage done by you
to the target by 6% and dealing Shadow damage over 15 sec.

All damage done by you to the target, so this debuff does not increase ALL damage taken, just ALL damage for you.

If this would be a raid wide debuff it would be in the paladin's spellbook *wink wink*

this is quite an awesome ability for pvp since 3.2, as you have snake trap, frost/freezing trap and black arrow (on same CD as the other 2 fire based traps) on separate CDs. Meaning you can have this up on your target most of the time in while using cc of the other 2 traps simultaneously. I really like this change...

Wrong. There are 3 categories of traps. Look at this:

1st category (fire)

Immolation trap
Explosive trap
Black Arrow

2nd category (frost)

Frost trap
Freezing trap
Freezing arrow

3rd category (nature)

Snake trap

You can use a trap from each category at the same time.

The idea behind this spell is the same as freezing arrow, allowing you to launch a trap from afar. It's great when you use survival in dungeons, because it can get annoying having to run everywhere to place traps, which cuts down on autoshots.

When I see a target hit by black arrow, the debuff reads as "damage taken increased by 6%," does this include damage from all sources or just from the hunter who fired it?

Does anyone know if this spell is at all affected by haste? Or for that matter is serpent sting as well? I've noticed DoTs and HoTs that ARE affected by haste and was curious if this fell under the same category as a result of haste.
