He cast a shield that absorbs 1000000 damage (10man) at the same time he casts a hammer that sinks from the sky at a random target. The hammer 1 shoots even tanks. You can bubble / iceblock out of it. Priest pull thingy doesn't work.

I assume you've to nuke the shield quickly and interupt the hammer.

This miniboss has the special ability that involves him shielding himself for 1m damage absorb and channeling a 20sec cast at a random player that stuns them for the duration and will instantly kill any target if the cast is completed; combat log reads "instantly kills" instead of "hit for x", suggesting that no abilities will work against it. In order to interrupt the ability, the shield has to be taken down and the spell interrupted.

Problem with this is, on 10man with 2tanks 3healers 5dps the group needs to output 50k dps over 20 seconds to break the shield, which results in 10k dps per dps; now this is doable, however the cast is instant, and before even a ranged dps can react and switch, a second at least will pass; in order to reliably interrupt, at least one second of a window needs to be there; also, there is a 50% chance that a dps gets targeted, upping dps requirements to around 14k, which, considering ramp up times, is quite alot to be asking from a 346 geared player. Killing him will only complicate things, because the other 3 minibosses will start doing the same, killing off the raid pretty quickly. The cooldown is probably about 60seconds, give or take, making heroism zerg pretty ineffective.

Through trial and error my guild has been able to find a workaround, which involves tanking Ironstar out of LOS to the raid; one tank takes all 3 other spirits while the Ironstar tank takes him out of LOS and shows himself for healing from time to time. Players out of LOS to Ironstar are still valid targets for Execution Sentence, and he will cast it, but the targeted player will not get stunned and will thus be able to move away and not die.

There is a slight problem with this method where, if you kill the whirlwind spirit first, Ironstar will start WWing towards random targets, coming into LOS; he can then start channeling Execution Sentence, complicating things. We have actually been able to defeat the spirits despite him doing that, but only had 1 dps alive at that point. Killing the avatar guy first my be the way to go if one chooses to LOS Ironstar.

Dps requirements seem to be slightly overtuned for him, at least on 10man; while we havent yet killed Atramedes, it looks like we will be able to, and trash being a tougher gear check than the boss it protects is hopefully not going to be encountered often.

This guy got nerfed so it's easier to break the shield, but note that all these dwarves are slow and can be easily kited as a method of CC. Did it as a mage but I don't see why it should be impossible for any other ranged.

My preferred kiting path is out of the room and towards the elevator, then run down the nearby stairs and up again on the other side, around and around until your group wants the mob back. With this one I always kept a safe 40+ yard distance (the range of his Execution Sentence) which meant I could only build aggro at the pull, but it seems he won't use it on his "tank" and either way, by the time I lost aggro to healers, the other three were dead... not to mention the distance he had to wobble back.

Our group came up with a fairly successful way to approach this add. If you have a Priest or two in your raid you should be able to use this strategy as well.

We had one tank pull Ironstar out of LoS as Acolight suggested. However, Ironstar will still pop out of LoS and cast Execution Sentence on a random raid member.

To combat this, we had all ranged stay at max distance from Ironstar. When one person was stunned by Execution Sentence, one of the Priests cast Leap of Faith on them to pull them farther than 40 yards away from Ironstar. If a tank gets targeted, have the Priests cast Leap of Faith one after another to ensure the tank is pulled more than 40 yards away from Ironstar.

These groups may seem counter-intuitive; you usually want to eliminate either the weakest links or the biggest threats first, but doing the latter in this fight will simply multiply your troubles.

Just to iterate here - you want to kill the dwarves first whose abilities help their allies the least. For instance, if you choose to kill Spirit of Ironstar first, you'll have 3 dwarves remaining that can cast Execution Sentence - that's no good! I'd recommend not killing either Spirit of Ironstar or Spirit of Shadowforge 1st or 2nd (two or three dwarves getting Chain Lightning will rough you up in a hurry too!) Killing them 3rd or 4th though makes no difference; your final dwarf will always have all four buffs on him at once.

Also, your DPS should all be focused on a single target at a time. As previously mentioned, they will heal their buddies when they die, so after each mob death they'll all be at full again. There's no advantage to your cast or incidental AoE's here other than to possibly pad your meters.

Depending on your kill order/tactics, you will probably want to tank the PBAoE guys (Spirit of Burningeye/Whirlwind, Spirit of Moltenfist/Thunderclap) away from your kill target. We generally have the kill target and Spirit of Ironstar tanked by the same tank and next to each other, to allow the DPS to switch to him faster (when they need to burn through his shield - 10-man: Shield of Light/25-man: ) in order to interrupt his Execution Sentence.

Here's a list with ability links and tooltips (thanks metallikop). I have suggested the order as well (assuming you are smart and off-tank your PBAoE's away from your Melee DPS, with a focus on reducing the damage taken by the raid. Note also that Whirlwind (originally from Spirit of Burningeye) reduces movement speed, meaning that even the tank (and other DPS) can get out of his range and reduce damage taken. It is also on a 13 second cooldown and should be generally avoidable if you're on your toes.

As the Stormbolt damage and stun effect can be wicked and the RNG could mean your healers get all stunned at once or gibbed (but don't forget spreading-out is helpful!), Thunderclap is picked as the first to "share." After this, though, you have three mobs using it, so you should have the kill target handled away from the others, while only a single tank is in range of the other two (this way your melee DPS are only ever exposed to one mob at a time with Thunderclap.)

Obviously different raid compositions may have benefits from different kill orders (if they are melee-heavy, spreading Stormbolt first might be preferable.)

For those of you with experience in the Ahn'Qiraj, you'll recognize these mobs as using a similar tactic (healing and sharing abilities on death) as the Anubisath Sentinels there. A similar design was used for the Assembly of Iron (Steelbreaker) in Ulduar through the Supercharge mechanic.
