It is actually an upgrade over Mandible of Beth'tilac if you want secondary stats and not a proc only weapon, threat wise and stamina.

Seems that Wariors and Paladins didn't get choice between 1h tanking weapon with secondary stats and one with proc.

Adarunn is correct. Using the current stat weight profiles provided, Wowhead's protection warrior profile shows the Mandible of Beth'tilac at 114ish points, while Hand of Morchok is worth "only" a meager 112.

Now, quite aside from the fact that this difference is (in my opinion) statistically insignificant, I would actually go a step further and say that, while the prefabricated protection profile is very well done for a tank who is gearing through the 378/384 level of gear (what could now be considered the 'entrance' level), once one gets up into the 397/410 range in which this becomes readily available to a tank, those weights change slightly. I would value stamina significantly higher in my own personal stat weightings *ONLY* because I am comfortably reaching the CTC cap of 102.4% and have the luxury of being able to invest in the stat as a result.

As a confluence of the fact that tanks at a level of gear to obtain this weapon, as well as the increased value of stamina in tanks of that gear level, I belive that at the very least this item draws even with the heroic mandible. The 57 stamina gain (before gemming), coupled with the noticeably higher threat profile on this weapon makes it an obvious choice for me (in the debate between the two, at least). If we put a +75 stam gem in the socket, the gain jumps to 132 stam, which is very sizable.

tl;dr- if you raid either does not have a DPS who is interested in this weapon, or has no more DPS left who want this item, and you have anything less than the 403 version of the Souldrinker, you should take this and use it without any shame.

Guildie of mine asked the other day "Who drops this axe?" I was like "Dude, seriously?" :) Some people are just to lazy to use minimum of their brains.
