I will be updating this (as I am my guild's) as I discover new things, and if Blizzard changes the questline again. I'm still working on verifying certain facts, trying to read between the lines and discover new quests and quest items, but everything below appears to fit and be viewable on the PTR.

You will notice that most of the links say that the quest or item data has yet to be found. This is because it has not been added to the WoWHead database yet, not because they don't exist. I've gone through them on the PTR, and everything existed in some way shape or form. No there are no stats on the daggers yet, but they do have an item icon on them.

The stage one daggers have a name currently, as they were dug out of the quest text: Ominous Razor and Ominous Shanker. My guess is the Shanker is the MH, since Shankers have predominantly been slower daggers so far in this game. I will add a caveat, that these could be placeholders, since they do feel slightly generic for being the beginning of a legendary item.

If this gives the Wowhead News team something to go on, then by all means take it and run with it. It would be cool to see you guys (and gals) be able to publish a definitive guide before anyone else. In any case, I will continue to work on adding to this over time.

The Charging Decoder Ring lasts 12 hour of /played time for A Hidden Message. You just need 12 hours /played in order for it to fully charge up. Seems like a weird hurdle to have, especially when it can be accomplished by sitting /afk in, say, Silithus, and after you just forked over 10k gold.

- Proving your worth (Proving Your Worth)
Need to pickpocket "Hagara the Stormbinder", 4th boss. The pocket refills in 15 minutes, or a reset.

Starts and ends at Lord Afrasastrasz (Lord Devrestrasz) at Wyrmrest Temple inside the Dragon's Soul raid.

- A Hidden Message (A Hidden Message)
Go to the Ethereals in SW/Org, charge your decoder ring at Thaumaturge Rafir (http://i.imgur.com/rUlWf.jpg). Then get the Singed Cipher from Corastrasza (Corastrasza) at Vermillion Redoubt. Charging the ring costs 10k gold. You must wait 12 hours /played after paying Rafir for the ring to turn into a Charged Decoder Ring. I would recommend leaving Warcraft open while you do other things, and have your character be /busy in an obscure location.

People have used auto keypress programs on the PTR to progress through those 12 hours while they sleep, you are responsible for any risks involved. Just a word of warning.

End at Corastrasza, at Vermillion Redoubt in the Twilight Highlands.

Lastly, you can move after right clicking the Charged Decoder Ring, it will not cancel the cast.

- To Ravenholdt (To Ravenholdt)
Speak with Mostrasz (Mostrasz) at the Vermillion Redoubt at the entrance under the tree, and fly to Ravenholdt. Talk with Mostrasz once you land.

- To Catch A Thief (To Catch a Thief)
Stealth through Ravenholdt for the egg, it's located in the basement. Talk to Wrathion at Ravenholdt to end it.

You will gain a somewhat large red circle around you character. It looks similar to: http://i.imgur.com/zxKpL.jpg. This is your safe stealth range, as enemies approach the edge of it, they will become suspicious and look in your direction. They must be either sapped or distracted so you can move past them. Do note that there is a limit to how close you can get to distracted targets. If you can't see the back edge of your "safety zone", then make sure your camera is zoomed out since you can still get attacked from behind.

You will need to get behind Ravenholdt Manor (http://i.imgur.com/VI4L8.jpg), climb up onto the roof and then enter at the top of the spire (http://i.imgur.com/W1gS1.jpg). Once inside you will walk down to the second floor, look for a specific mob that pats underneath you, make sure they are at either end of their pat so you don't land near them, distract them if necessary. Quickly fall to the main floor and run under the stairs so you fall into the basement.

The easiest way I found was to go counter clockwise around the premises, either along the side of the hills or by going straight up to the building and taking a right.

Once you get into the basement, there is a brief cut scene. As of Oct 18th all you see is a placeholder. Wrathion will appear and walk upstairs while talking to you, all the Ravenholdt NPCs are now friendly and you embark on Wrathion's quest by talking to him.

You can find him on the north side of the northeast bridge.

- Assassinate Creed (Assassinate Creed)
Find Creed (Lord Hiram Creed - 58.6, 67.6 @Gilneas City) in the middle of the military district and kill him, enter in through Merchant's square and stealth to him, make heavy use of Sap and Distract. Zazzo will pull you out if you're bad at being a ninja. You can avoid the last few mobs by jumping into the stream under the bridge leading into the Military District.

Creed has 1,859,760 health, and is a two phase fight. He is susceptible to all forms of CC, incapacitates, snares, stuns, etc.

Phase 1 lasts until 75% health, he casts two spells:
- Consuming Darkness - 1 second cast that spawns an AOE underneath the player that does roughly 9k per tick.
- Blackhowl's Will - 1.5 second cast that hits the target for roughly 20k shadow damage.
In phase 2 he adds another spell to his arsenal:
- Shadow Breath - 1 second cast warm up, 3 second channeled duration that deals shadow damage in front of him. The channeled part of the cast is not affected by Mind Numbing Poison.

Strategy(ies) soon.

- The Deed is Done (The Deed is Done)
Return to Wrathion after killing Creed.

Wrathion will reward you with the stage 1 daggers.

- Cluster Clutch (Cluster Clutch)
Collect 50 Shadowy Gems from creatures in Dragon Soul. Quest text seems to indicate they will drop from Elementium Gem Clusters, but this seems somewhat odd. It could be a way to reduce the number of people working on the legendary at the same time if the Rogue is required to go back and loot the same item, albeit tedious.

Turn in to Wrathion, in Ravenholdt.

- Our Man in Karazhan (Our Man in Karazhan)
Go to Zazzo, SE of Karazhan.

- Blood of the Betrayer (Blood of the Betrayer)
Sneak into the Master's Cellar at Karazhan (Yay!), and defeat Nalice. It appears that effective use of Stealth and Distract is of the essence for this part. Pick Lock might be used, but who cares.

Might need Arcane Storage Devices to beat Nalice, they should be scattered throughout the cellar.

Grab a vial for Wrathion off the dead body of Nalice, most likely turned into Zazzo, however.

This is the first tier MH dagger of the new legendary set for rogues.

-It will work as a MH weapon for combat rogues somehow.
-Currently on the PTR it has no stats aside from dps/socket/ilevel.
-You will need to pickpocket the 4th boss in Dragons Soul raid to beging the quest. Read long quote post for details.

Edit: I somehow managed to type OH instead of MH while still explaining that it works as MH for combat. Woop.

For combat rogues, this weapon is equal to one with 2.61 weapon speed, due to 45% extra damage for Sinister Strike and Revealing Strike.

so... u start the quest chain by just going to ravenholdt right? Than first quest is to pickpocket a boss in Dragon Soul raid... the shaman one. Which boss is that? hope one of the first and bout no mobs with stealth detection xD... but knowing blizz they probs will input those mobs cuz else first quest would be too easy -_- still, getting Fear and Vengeance seems easier than getting Shadow's Edge to me, since it doesn't require u to raidfarm.

Can anyone confirm or deny that the daggers cannot be reforged? Was there a blue post or is it a bug or what? Seems kind of silly to stack them with every stat a Rogue would need and then because of that not allow reforging, but I can see why if it isn't a bug.

So basically any rogue with access to a 3/8 raid instance can get the daggers for mere 10k gold. Neat.

Daggers are normalized at 1.7 speed, other 1H weapons are normalized at 2.4 speed. 145% of 1.7 will giver you 2.45 speed. it means SS with this dagger hit for about 2% harder then SS with the same dps mace/axe/sword.

Add to that the set bonus and the huge amount of stats and gem slot you get on this one, and this will top every other combat weapon in game at the same item level or even slightly higher.

To start the quest for this just pick up Proving Your Worth, a quest from Lord Afrasastrasz inside the Dragon Soul raid. This is presumably only possible on Normal difficulty – we don’t have hard facts on that, but since the quest can’t be completed in LFR, it seems unlikely to start in LFR either.

I have just got these and done a heroic with both of them correctly reforged, and enchanted and there is a significant drop in my dps, especially on aoe trash cleaving. When normally i would be on 50-70k i'm stuck on 36 at the very most. On bosses i have gone down from around 27-28k too about 23k at the most. Some people have been complaining on the forums about it and some have been saying there is a bug with the 45% increase in damage.

I currently have ticket open to talk to a GM about the subject and will keep you updated.

Okay so, so far my 365 tankard o' terror and Vengeance combination puts out 16.3k dps on a target dummy unbuffed and everything. (combat spec) where as the fear and vengeance combination puts out 16.1k. When aoe'ing 2 target dummies at once i averaged out at 32k dps cleaving with mace and vengeance. With fear and vengeance both equipt the aoe steady cleave damage is 30.2k dps.

Make with this what you want, still waiting for a reply from a GM.

I had just gotten Stage 1 of the legendary daggers for my rogue and wanted to see how long it would take to suffering to stack up to 50 to get 100 bonus agil. So I did a race to 50 with assassin spec vs combat, combat clocked in at 5 minutes, assassin clocked in at 1 min 40 seconds. Made me wonder what the hell is going on.

So I went to your local lvl 60 combat dummy equipped some bg gear so that the only things procing would be my daggers's suffering buff, main gauche and landslide. Was 0-2% off of hit cap and no parry or dodge to worry about, found the updated version of recount and let my toon white hit the dummies.

Assassin came in around 20 percent chance of gaining a stack of suffering buff per hit (if spamming only Mutilate, still 20%), when using dots such as Deadly Poison, Rupture and 2 piece t12 setbonus, proc chance per melee or Mutilate hit dropped a little to 17-19%. Haste is at 7.4% and mastery doesn't matter here.

Switched spec to combat with the SAME EXACT GEAR and the proc chance dropped to 10%, which happened to be around same proc rate over time of my main gauche. Mastery's at 13.46 and about 14% haste, which looks like main gauche works as intended. Switched around my gear so that I would have 18% haste, 18.69 mastery, and mastery proc rate was nearly double suffering's which stayed at 10% of melee white hits. No mastery/haste trinkets or tier set bonuses.

Interestingly, when I started spamming sinister strike, the proc chance stayed the same IF I ignored the number of SS hits, which is the exact opposite of assassin's mutilate which seems to be included. However, finishing moves doesn't seem to proc this as well, I'd need longer testing to verify.

So is this the dev's subtle way to prod us rogues to go back to being in assassin spec? Or is it a way to balance out the handicap that it seems that assassin rogues have. Or is something like combat tree's Combat Potency eating up all the offhand suffering procs and is SS/finishers/main gauche generally flawed in not procing suffering?

Single target raiders training dummy test -

Combat:
Tankard o' terror mace + Vengeance dagger = 16.3k dps
Fear dagger + Vengeance dagger = 16.1k dps

Assasination:
Mace + dagger = Not viable
Dagger + dagger = 17.1k

AOE 2 targets

Combat:
Mace + dagger = 32k dps
dagger + dagger = 30.2k dps

Assasination:
Mace + dagger = Not worth doing with fok
Dagger + dagger = Not worth doing with fok

The set bonus takes a while to ramp up... so for 5mans you will not see the full benefit of this buff. It took me about 1 min 30 secs for it to fully stack to 50 on a boss fight. But who is going to complain about 100 extra agility?

It never ceases to amaze me that people downrate stuff just because it doesn't benefit them, irregardless of how relevant it actually is to the page.

For instance why would anybody down-rate gwellin01 link to a VERY useful guide? So even if a comment does not help YOU personally, think about its value to perhaps, I don't know, maybe some other WOW players? Cheers!

Clattering claw + mandible of the old ones on warlord zonz gave about 20-25k on avg

Fear + vengeance gave 27k+ so... Combat rogues should aim to get these asap.

Just as a handy tip if you are struggling with any of the "bosses" (certainly works on the first phase). You don't need to be in a group with a rogue to get credit for a kill. So long as you did some damage to the boss you will still get credit. Feel free to sit stealthed until someone else comes, do be ready to take over "tanking" him as diminising returns on stuns will kick in pretty fast with 2 or more rogues going at it.

I play as a worgen rogue and got credit helping a troll take the first boss down. My grouped partner who was still half the city away also got credit for my share of the kill.

Fear and Vengeance are very powerful, these weapons are great for both PvE and PvP, I highley recommend them, spending the 10k is worth it! If you have not got them; GO FARM! :)

Ok Fear is the main-hand part of stage 1 legendary daggers set.
Along with Vengeance it will grant you Suffering, great bonus stacking up while fighting.
These daggers are very powerful at both PvE and PvP.
(PvP / PvE) Assasination spec uses daggers.
(PvP) Backstab subtlety spec uses daggers.
(PvE ) Combat spec usually do not use daggers but according to the 45% bonus to sinister and revealing strike it's also the best choice of ilvl 397 weapons available for rogue.

Only spec which won't use probably any stage of these daggers is hemorrhage subtlety spec which is used at PvP.
