Its a damn expensive to make.
Price is at least 12500g (this is vendor mats cost).

You need:
12 x Titansteel Bar (20hours cooldown to make 1) price 100g+ for one
40 x Handful of Cobalt Bolts (easy to make and even 40 dont change price :) )
2 x Arctic Fur (quite expensive at start of WoTLK but lets hope it will be better - lets count 100g for one)
1 x Salvaged Iron Golem Parts (you can buy it from vendor for 3000g)
8 x Goblin-machined Piston (also vendor item 1000g for one)
1 x Elementium-plated Exhaust Pipe (from vendor too for 1500g)

At the moment price should be around 19k + (if friend will make it for you and wont charge you too much).

All vendor items can be bought only by eng with 450 skill and chopper recipe.
Better find someone from good guild to make it for you - you need to give money first and wait for crafter to get parts and make it :)

It's waste of time to farm Horde Expedition rep for it when it gives only this recipe. All your friends will ride red drakes before you ;(

Won't be surprised to see 1st one for 30k +

You can get all parts in one place. From Roxi Ramrocket <Cold Weather Flying Trainer> at K3 in The Storm Peaks (you will only see this items if you are engi and you have recipe).

Well that sucks that it is like 15k to buy because the mammoth is 20k and they are the only multi-person mounts. I can't wait to get noobs and say "Wanna see something cool?" then drive them off a cliff dismount and bubble. :D

The total price for all vendor mats is 12500 Gold.
I make them on the Chromaggus Realm for Titansteel+cobalt+fur and 14k gold for mats and build fee. Most days you can pick up those non-vendor mats for about 1.5k to 2k gold.

Side Note: It's called trolls.jpg because this is where I send Trade Chat trolls when they call me a liar and a crook :-)

no vehicle mounts act like they did before, all of them should be considered "mounts" now.

They all take fall dmg, they all can mount/dismount instantly, and they all work with crusader aura now.

A recent patch did in fact fix several issues with vehicle mounts including changing mounts like flying carpets from vehicles to regular mounts. However, mounts that can carry passengers and have other functions are still considered vehicles. This includes at least these vehicle mounts:

Alliance

Mekgineer's Chopper
Reins of the Grand Ice Mammoth
Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth

Horde

Mechano-hog
Reins of the Grand Ice Mammoth
Reins of the Traveler's Tundra Mammoth

If you are a tauren, you are freakingly huge. That's a REALLY serious problem when trying to go through all the doors of the game, going on a mount. The ones in Dalaran are specially disturbing. I tried myself most of the rest of the mounts in the game, finding always some door too small for me to go through while mounted :(

Well, the Mechano-hog AT LAST finishes all your problems! as it gives you the same height the walking motions have (after all, your character is a bit leaned back when riding the hog), all those nasty moments will be lost in time... this is your mount taurens, to be entirely free... the tiranny of the gnome sized doors in Dalaran and other places, is OVER!

Note that Tauren that are stacking Size Increases can go into the Passenger Seat of, say, a Blood Elf with a Shrink Effect. The result is that you basically see a Tauren sitting down scooting around with a small wheel coming out of his left foot. And he can go through doors that he normally can't go through because of size. It's really, really funny.

I have a alliance character which has enough engineering. I want to give the bike to my horde character. So can i buy the schematics, mail it to my alliance character, have him make the bike and then mail it back to my horde character? I really need to know if this works before actually doing it...

Yes i know that... but i am not going to gain all that engineering again on my horde character just so i can make a bike. What i want to do is buy the "horde" schematic, mail to my alliance character have him make the "horde" mechano hog, and then mail the bike back to my horde character... I know about the race restrictions which why I am having my alliance character make the "horde" mechano hog.

So please can someone tell me if this will work not?

As you are an Alliance player, I wouldn't think you'd even see this Horde bike schematic to buy since you will never get exalted with Horde Expedition...

To make this sexy piece of a ride somewhat cheaper I have a tip for all of you. Do NOT buy the crafted and farmed mats on AH. It's so easy to get them alot cheaper just by writing in trade channel.

For example.
On my server (Outland-EU), Titansteel Bar sells for approximately 140-150g on AH (158g actually the day I built my Hog). But when I wrote in trade channel that I wanted 12 and that could pay 1100 in total for them (796g off AH price) I got whispers immediately. People see a four digit number and goes crazy.

See this as a reminder, because I know what a pain in the 4$$ it can be to get the gold you need for this. Although, as we speak there is no way around the 12,500g vendor mats.

Well ofcourse I forgot. Worth noticing is that you might be lucky to find the Elementium-plated Exhaust Pipe on Auction House really cheap (reeeeally cheap, if someone is stupid enough) since it drops from mobs that can be engineered by engineers.

Thortok's guide to getting a Mechano-Hog!

Chopper. Two passenger mount. People in your group can ride in your side car. Don't have to be an engineer to have and use one. Do have to be an engineer to make one. Don't have to own one to ride in someone else's. Gives an achievement to have it: Get to the Choppa!.

(Engineers Only) Get to 450 Engineering.
(Engineers Only) Buy (and learn) Schematic: Mechano-Hog. This requires Horde Expedition Exalted. Easiest way to get this rep to Exalted is to do heroic dungeons at level 80 without wearing one of the tabards that changes the default rep into a different rep. You can also quest for it.
Gather 12x Titansteel Bar, 40x Handful of Cobalt Bolts, 2x Arctic Fur. Hopefully you can figure out how to do this on your own.
Save up 12500 gold or the following items: Salvaged Iron Golem Parts will cost 3000 gold. 8x Goblin-Machined Piston will cost 1000 gold each for a total of 8000 gold. Elementium-Plated Exhaust Pipe will cost 1500 gold. Finding any of these mats for cheaper than the listed price on the Auction House is unlikely, but possible*, so make sure you check because it could save you money. Obviously, don't buy them for more than the listed price. Duh.
The parts listed in Step 4 can only be bought from Roxi Ramrocket in K3 by an Engineer who has completed Step 2. So if you are not an Engineer, you will have to give your gold to the Engineer making this for you, and they can buy them from the NPC.** (Note that Elementium-Plated Exhaust Pipe, the part that costs 1500 gold, is limited supply so has a chance of not being available. However, because of the rarity of choppers anyway, it is usually available regardless. If the Engineer says it's not available, take their word for it and try again in a couple hours or the next day.)
The mats from Steps 4/5 and Step 3 will be used to make the chopper. If, more than likely, you are at K3 when you have collected your final mats, there is an anvil within K3 the chopper can be made at.

*The mats in Steps 4/5 used to be additionally available from deconstructing (the Engineering version of Skinning) certain bosses in Ulduar, specifically Flame Leviathan as the most common. Not sure which patch changed this, but this is no longer the case. Now that Roxi Ramrocket is the only source of these mats, you will practically never see them on the Auction House anymore. However, since these mats are bought from a vendor, the guild perk Bartering can be used for a discount. No other forms of discounts are currently known. If you do not have this perk, you can check the Auction House to see if someone who does is selling at a discount. Since it could potentially save you money, why not check?

**Make sure you protect yourself! If you get scammed, GM's can and will take action to get your gold and/or mats back, just open a ticket. In order for them to confirm it was a scam, make sure the entire transaction is negotiated using in-game text chat so the GM can read the chat log and confirm that you have been scammed. (Hopefully this won't happen anyway, but 12.5k is a respectable chunk of money, so make sure to cover your bases.) This 'scam protection' is provided for all forms of scams, including the 'give you the mats to make an item and you keep them and give me nothing' scam, as scamming is against the ToS!

I recommend, for Engineers making this for yourself, after you make your first one, check your realm to see if there's anyone willing to buy this for extremely high prices (like, 20k or higher, perhaps even 30k). If you get enough profit, make another one and attempt to sell it. Keep going until you don't get any buyers for awhile, making and selling one by one, and then if you go a long time and can't sell your current one for a profit, THEN learn it yourself.

You can't buy Elementium-Plated Exhaust Pipe, Salvaged Iron Golem Parts, and Goblin-Machined Piston from Roxi Ramrocket without first have learnt Schematic: Mechano-Hog first. The items just won't show up

If you want to make one trip to Northrend and back, this is a list of the farmable incredients: (provided you're a miner : )
I find it best to head to Wintergrasp for the titanium where ore respawns rather quickly. You can also farm the higher elementals when your faction has WG, who always drop at least 1-3 of the crystallized elements. The other elementals drop them but at a lesser rate.
(You can pick up eternal earth and shadow while farming saronite, so it's a good idea to just pick up every node, also to make the others respawn quicker. You can only mine Crystallized fire from Titanium nodes)

Titanium ore x72 = 36 Titanium Bars
- Crystallized Earth x120 = 12 Eternal Earth
- Crystallized Shadow x120 = 12 Eternal Shadow
- Crystallized Fire x120 = 12 Eternal Fire

It costs 3 Titanium bar, 1 each of Eternal Fire, Earth, and Shadow to make one Titansteel bar. The above mats should give you your 12.

Cobalt ore x40 - 60 = 40 - 60 Cobalt bars

When you create cobalt bolts it costs 2 bars. It's anywhere from 1-3 that drop so a good average would probably be about 20 to 40 bars to work with to save the trip of having to go back for more.

It helped me to collect the items better by mapping it out : ) so I hope this helps someone else too!

If you just skilled a new character that dont have Reputation with Horde Expedition then i suggest that you have
your main/make a farming group in any Heroic Dungeons in Duskwood.

What I did:
I have two accounts and my main who is also a level 85 Warrior with good gear (372ilvl) and Victory Rush Glyphs soloed:
Gundrak, Hall of Lightning, Hall of Stone, Utgarde Keep, Utgarde Pinnacle and both Azjol-Nerub Dungeons on 5 man Heroic.

Bosses will give you 375 rep (dont have any Tabard equipped on the character you need Reputation on).
Trash will give you 21 to 64 Rep per run (per day) so there is an average of 3300 reputation each dungeon if you take everything.
Its boring but can be done within 1 day with total of 12 hours farming.

Also since im a Goblin and in a Guild level 25 then you'll have Bartering and the original vendor price is 400 Gold.
When i reached Exalted then the Schematic costs 280 Gold.
But The vendor items thats needed for Schematic: Mechano-Hog dont give much discount.
The price now is Goblin-Machined Piston 900 Gold Salvaged Iron Golem Parts 2700 Gold and Elementium-Plated Exhaust Pipe 1350 Gold.
Which is total price 11 250 Gold in Vendor items. You also need Titansteel Bars, Cobalt Bolts and Artic Fur.
