The first time I've ever seen two achievements with the same name: Death from Above (yeah, I've seen the From/from difference but still). After all they are added in the same patch. Odd.

Six Firelords that appear during this bombing daily quest Fire in the Skies.
When you bomb all 6, you will get the achievement Death From Above.

To bomb these guys, you'll be on a fire hawk (provided seige type vehicle next to the quest giver) with 3 options: Flame Seed, Flame Burst, and Return to the Furnace.

They regen HP quickly, so to defeat them you'll need a group effort (though they may just get to 1 hp and not die =-/ )
You do not need to kill them, some people just get trigger happy, and it does count if you bomb them when they're "tagged" or gray/grey nameplate.

The Six Firelords:

Ragepyre
Ragepyre is off to the right as you leave the cinderweb area. He's atop a small barren hill. (In Firelands there's surgers here.)
Flashfire
"Flashfire is semi-hidden in the hills on the right as you leave Beth'Tilac's area via the ramp." (Thanks Toroq!)
Heatflayer
Heatflayer is in the cinderweb area (Beth'tilac's lair) on the western most part. He's slightly smaller than the other Firelords. (Thanks battierpeeler!)
Blazefury
Blazefury is located on the left hand side after you bomb the open area with corehounds, and are headed back up to the cinderweb (Beth'tilac's Lair) area. You may have tried to knock the flamewakers off the ledge here with Flame Burst, just look to the left.
Hatespark
As you're leaving the cinderweb area (or if you just arrived) and are flying down the ramp, look to the left atop a pillar.
Singeslayer
"Singeslayer is off to the left as you leave Beth'tilac's area." (Thanks kaytie!)

The daily by daily terms can queue twice, though unlikely as these appear to be cycling as intended, ~~meaning you may get a different Firelord every 3-4 days (or depending on how often you do your dailies).~~
Update: It appears the daily is one of four possible dailies. One day you'll steal an egg doing Peaked Interest, the next day you may bomb away. As far as which Firelord will be there, there may be a cycle for them, ~~but it appears that every other day it will change~~.

The prerequisites to this daily is to obtain 150 Mark of the World Tree, and turn in the quest Druids of the Talon at the Shrine of Aviana.

Upon turning in the quest, you will get some short LolRP, then the NPCs will head off to the Molten Front. As you're leaving there is a quest available from the innkeeper Isara Riverstride called Flight of the Storm Crows which just tells you (if you ignore LolRP) to go to the Molten Front and do dailies.

From here you'll finish your dailies, get your marks, and then a new daily will appear to escort a druid through the flames to the north west. As you escort her, fire nagas will spawn to attack and disrupt her concentration to make you burn. About 5 of these spawn, just kill them off. They have roughly 60-70k hp. When you reach the end, a molten elemental will be standing there and the attack is called. DPS the elemental, and stay out of fire that is put under your feet that explodes shortly afterwards. When the elemental is defeated you'll be sucked in as it explodes and dropped down a shaft. Down here is your first set of new dailies. Finish up down here, and don't forget (if it's your first time) to get the escort quest in the far back of the cave (watch your minimap). When you head back up, simply go to your left around the side of the mountain, and here's where the Druids of the Talon daily hub is located.

Meh, if more time available will edit this for clarification as far as the prerequisites section goes.

To clarify, the quest Fire In the Skies required to do the achievement becomes available from the Druids of the Talon, specifically Morthus Whisperwing after you do the escort quest Into the Fire. THEN it is a 1/4 chance to be the daily from the quest giver.

Just to note since it confused and frustrated me for quite some time before I figured it out: you just have to bomb the named Firelord, you do not have to kill him. In fact, without extreme coordination between multiple people doing the achieve together killing him would be very much impossible as you can only do ~20-25% of his hp in damage in the time you are in range of him and he evade regens almost instantly.

Hope this saves some people some frustration as it's not exceedingly obvious, esp. if the Firelord for your first bombing run is one of the ones after the "..." when tracking the achievement (update just removes the ellipses marks, very subtle).

Can anybody confirm that the mobs change at 1AM Pacific Time? Because dailies reset at 4AM pacific time on my realm, means I have a chance at doing 2 NPCs per daily?

EDIT: According to my observations from the previous week or so, the theory that the NPCs change at 1AM Pacific Time would be false.

I just checked this 1am pst spawn time and the same elemental was up. Blazefury has been up 3 consecutive bombing runs. This is either bugged or having some really bad RNG. This achievement is bull*!@#.

So just did this on one of the elites and as previous mentioned post the elite do not have to be killed just bombed. So you can do it alone and there is no need for a full party or anything like it :) And still counts even if the elite is tagged and grey.

Does anyone know if this can be finished later on? I currently have enough marks to progress to Shadow Wardens, but I am not sure if this will be available. I don't think Blizzard would make this a one time only thing, but they have pulled stuff in the past that makes me wary to continue.

I'm testing tonight if you can skip the "gathering a young fire hawk" dailies and still get the bombing daily tonight, for those who want the achievement but want to do the Shadow Wardens for whatever reason. Will post my result soon.

Alright, I'm guessing you need to do the gather an egg/hatchlings daily for the Bombing Daily to show up. My Shaman, who switched to unlock the Wardens, didn't do any gathering and got the gathering daily today. While my Death Knight, who switched to unlock the Druids, has the bombing run, having gathered an egg yesterday.

For now it's probably best, for those going for achievements, to unlock the second faction so you get the extra daily for them that crosses over (Gathering the Acorn for the Wardens for the Crimson Thrasher dailies and Saving Anren Shadowseeker for the Anren/Tholo dailies). And then spam the Druid of the Talon for the bombing runs, since you can't do the Wardens achievement Ready for Raiding II without unlocking the Ancients.

You can recruit the shadow wardens and go back and do this. Each day you can do a escort quest to unlock more quests ...you can choose to unlock the wardens or the talons. So you can unlock the shadow wardens and go farther down the chain .. then go back and always do the talon dailies to finish achivment

Works like a charm for me. When inserting the IDs, leave the world option blank.
Since you are never in the bombing area except when you actually do , _npcscan only pops up when there is an elemental lord you have not seen/bombed before. You don't have to be afraid of missing one.

I've been farming this quest for a while now. Got Blazefury, Flashfire, Ragepyre and Singeslayer first. Came back today, same time as usual, and Blazefury is up again. So there is definitly no "chain spawn" as I've been doing Talon dailies every day around the same time.

So what do we know about this quest and achievement:

This quest is pretty rare.
Fire bosses can repeat as many times as the rng will allow.
And u need to always pick the druids of the talon quests.

I can also confirm that if u will keep the quest for next day, u have an opportuniy to get new boss next day (i had 2 different bosses in 2 consecutive days while keeping 1 quest).

So my opinion: If u feel unlucky and dont wanna spend 1++ months to get htis achiev, just sacrifice (2x"amount of resets that will take u to get all bosses") marks and keep the quest. This is what i will do.

Hm... This is strange, i went there today to fly again for another boss. And there was just no bird to fly on there! So probably last 2 days i really had this quest and there was no need to extend it... and i wasted 4 marks..

Since everyone has already reminded eachother of the fact that you only need to bomb (hit) the elementals with one of your two abilites and not kill them, I won't point it out again.

Although, I did today try to KILL them, and it's not possible, flew around for 10 minutes while trying to bomb him down without letting him get full health again. They're left with 1 HP, quite sad:/

Thought it would be epic if you could kill it and another one spawns, but it's appearantly not possible.

So far every day that i got the quest to bomb, which is every other day, it just seems to be blazefury. I dont know if my servers glitched out but I just find it odd no one else has spawned. Is blazefury more commen or would that matter?

If the elementals change at 01:00, couldn't you keep the quest, and just keep going back to bomb after the reset? That way it ensures that you can have the quest every day, it just means not getting the marks.

Well guys as i told before. I saved the quest. And when i came there for the next day to fly again, there was just no bird to fly on.

Here is the sick idea: Take quest, go fly on bird and stay online flying on bird for 6 days!

This looks to be totally RNG. I've gotten the quest 3 times so far, and it's been a different boss each time. At this point, since I'm still working on finishing all the achievements for Hyjal, I'll just keep on turning in the quest once completed. After I've completed the 2 remaining 125 mark quests, if I haven't completed this achievement I'll not turn in the daily until after the reset.

If you unlocked dailies for both the druids of the talon and the shadow wardens, and don't want to farm talon dailies every day waiting on firelords for the achievement, you can check which firelord spawned prior to starting dailies.

As a hunter or shaman, chain-cast Eagle Eye/Far Sight to scan the Firelands area; you can also use a targeting macro to ease the process. If you don't have a hunter or shaman alt capable of accessing the Molten Front, find a friend or player nearby who can.

My realm has had Blazefury up for over a week now.. I already sent in a GM ticket and got a response, apparently it's a bug if you're seeing the same elemental every day. It's not RNG if the same elemental is there laughing at you every day of the week.

If you've already turned in marks for druids and shadow wardens it's possible to do your bombing run and still do the shadow wardens quest in the same day.

Once you have the "fire in the skies" quest, don't abandon it. Come back the next day and do the regular dailies, then accept the "into the fire" quest that begins the druids dailies. After you kill the pyrelord and it drops you in the hole, don't do any quests down there - just come right back up and go to the fire in the skies quest and hop on the bird.

Once you're on the bird, you can see if one of your desired elementals is up - if so - bombs away. If not, just come back. Either way, once you're done - run back to malfurion's breach and abandon the (completed) "into the fire" quest, then take the shadow wardens quest (Forlorn spire.)

From there, just do your normal shadow wardens quests.

Edit - I've also found out that if you're working on the ancients AND the bombing achievement - you'll want to do what I suggested above. Here's why: You have to complete the entire set of dailies with shadow wardens or druids in order to unlock the harbringer quest. If you do druids, but don't complete the bombing run quest, then you won't be able to unlock the harbringer quest (3 marks!) However, if you do your bombing run, then abandon druid segment and switch to shadow wardens, you can complete all quests they give you (except it would be 1 less quest since you kept the bombing quest from druids.)

The only problem with this is that once I kept the bombing run quest for about a week, I went back and the bird was gone. I had to abandon and do druids 2 days in a row before getting bombing quest back. Now I'm back on track with only 1 named elemental left to bomb and one ancient to kill. Should be finished with both achvs in just another day or two if i'm lucky.

Likewise, the old tabletop Battletech miniatures game had an attack for any mech (that had jumps jets) called Death From Above - that is jumping onto another mech from above.

101st Airborne Division in Vietnam used it as a slogan, but the actual “Death From Above” saying was a WWII phrase.

I can confirm that the “Death From Above” card was designed by Captain William B Mozey in either late 1965 or early 1966. When Bill took over the company the nickname was changed to “Death From Above” and the unit members got a full deck of the playing cards along with a Black Silk scarf with the “Death From Above” and airborne Skull on it. The phrase was banned in the Battalion Area, so the guys said “DFA” until the brass figured that out. It was an Article 15 offense to say either. The company was broken up at least 2 times because of “DFA” and the cards and scarves disappeared, but returned in 1968 when I was with the company. Only Charlie 1/8th Cavalry was known as “Death From Above” at this time. The other companies had their own nicknames as did all the companies in the 1st Air Cavalry Division.

More than likely, all references to Death From Above directly or indirectly share roots in the WWII origins - including WoW.

Just completed this now after opening the druids of the talon 1st, then when I got 150 more marks turned in for the shadow wardens and did their quests for 1 day only to open up the lasher. I then ignored shadow warden dailies completely, only doing the druids of the talon dailies every day.

Either I'm lucky or this was just the best way to guarantee getting this, in my opinion, the most random of the achievements for the meta done.

I've been doing my fair share of bombing as I posted earlier, however today I went to go do it again, and the firehawk was gone...tried zoning, relogging, nothing. Dropped the quest and ofc it was the egg daily today...rare bug or what?

You can actually have this quest to check an elemental every day, apart from the very first, if you are able to be online around the daily reset time.

Day One: Do or
Once having done this quest, do not return to molten flow until dailies have reset.

Day Two: Fire in the skies, do not complete this quest, simply get on the bird and bomb the quest mob.

Come back before the reset on the next day, around 03:45 is good enough. If the bird is still there, you can get on it and do the next day while on the bird, the NPC will simply change as quests reset at 04:00. Repeat this step each time the bird is still there.

If the bird is not there, abandon fire in the skies, the NPC will offer you the prequest, do the prequest and then leave molten flow until dailies reset, do your dailies as normal and you will get fire in the skies again.

It may that you can enter and leave molten flow as much as you want but I didn't always get fire in the skies when doing that, as other posters have commented.

Blazefury seems to spawn a lot more often than the others. And you do get this quest every other day. I've done the Talons every day since the faction was available, and got it every other day every time.

I'm only missing Heatflayer atm. Hope to get him tomorrow !

I kept this quest in my log after completing all the other Molten Front dailies, and came back at 1 AM server time (notably, 3 hours before dailies reset) to try to get a different mob because I read in a comment here that's when they reset.

Not only did the fire hawk not spawn for me to ride, but when I dropped the quest I was offered a completely different daily from the questgiver, so apparently the daily which is offered does not reset when the dailies themselves do.

One of the most RNG based achievements in the game.

Not only because it only 1 spawn per day, and aparently Blazefury spawns a lot.
Also because you cant do it every day, so you might lose that Flashfire spawn while you get the egg from Fireplume peak, just because you are unlucky.

Does logging out next to the bird allow you to skip Into the Fire the next day or does it port you back down the hill? Or perhaps do you log in to a hillside of fire?

Update: Answering my own question, when I logged back in today I was in the same spot, but none of the NPCs were there, all were phased out. The fire is back up and you have to cross through it to get back to sentinel tree area. (Or you can just jump down the hill).

I've been having the "Egg" quest for 5 consecutive days in a row. And after that i finally got the Fire hawk flying quest and ofc saved the quest for the next day. After i came next day i still had the bird to fly on.
But i had the problem with despawning bird before.
So my idea is (ONLY PROBABLY) that the bird will despawn if u will bomb atleast 1 creature for a quest. So after u get q, go bomb ur fire boss and then abandon and retake the quest. Maybe it will help.

Thought I'd mention it for the record but not only do the firelords alternate at 4 with the dailies but also with server restarts. Yesterday we had 2 post-4 restarts in 1 day and upon checked after each, the firelord HAD changed.

Sadly though even seeing 3 in 1 day, I've been stuck at 4/6 for a while and all 3 were mobs I'd already bombed =S

missing 2 marks doesnt matter for me, i already recruit all 3 vendors.
Trying this now, gonna give the result tommoz.
If you didnt complete this daily means you didnt get another 3 marks from strike to the heart ( if you already recruit the ancients ) that's total 5.

You can keep this daily on your log completed or not and can be reacquired if you're abandon it, but you need to do 'into the fire' again everyday to get to the quest giver.

When the Achievement says "bomb", it just means "bomb". You don't have to kill them, just hit it once. It's much easier that way.

Some info on this, hope it's helpful.

The quest alternates with and for each character. (So if you get on Monday, you will either get or ).

The elementals also changes on a daily basis at the same time your daily quests ticks over.

If you already unlocked all 3 vendors and don't mind missing out on the marks, just keep the , BUT DO NOT COMPLETE IT, because you will not be able to mount the bird if you do.

This will allow you to do the quest everyday and check if the elementals you need are up, as long as you keep the quest and not complete it.

Also, it helps to always ask in General Chat, which Elementals are up on the day, as it will help you determine if you wanna bother doing the dailies up to that point (assuming you have no use for the marks) or if you want to do the Shadow Wardens instead.

Since nobody seems to have mentioned it yet, I find it worth noting that all 6 of these names (Ragepyre, Blazefury, Flashfire, Hatespark, Heatflayer, Singeslayer) were all possible random names for the Warcraft III Hero Unit Firelord.

Two more Firelord hero names, Kar the Everburning and Volcanus, also both appear in the Firelands.

No word on the whereabouts of Smolderas, however.

For those that are all done collecting Marks (all 3 vendors open and you don't need the Scorched Stone from Zen'Vorka's Cache) :

Acquire and keep it in your log uncompleted (in fact, avoid bombing -any- quest targets) so that you can fly over the bombing area every day.
On the following days, complete and turn in just the four main Molten Front dailies given by General Taldris Moonfall, Captain Irontree, and Rayne Feathersong. You can skip the Mount Hyjal, Ricket's and Avrilla's quests (although is easily done as you do ).
Go and complete it by killing the Pyrelord, turn it in to Thisalee, then go back up the hole and around to use the bomber.

So did anyone fix the problem with dissapearing bird? This is pretty annoying.. i am keeping the quest. And just dont see the vehicle. I tried doing All quests - didnt help also. And i dont have any credit in a quest progression.

I had been keeping the quest in my log in order to work on this achievement, and sure enough, on the day when the last one I needed had spawned, I was not able to use the Fire Hawk.

At first I had thought it had to do with server restarts, but one of my fellow guildmates had completed the dailies at the same time I had the previous day and was still able to see the Fire Hawk. So the restart wasn't the issue.

There are two things I did different from normal which may have caused the Fire Hawk to despawn

- I did the quest (first time I had gotten this quest)
- I cheated with Into the Fire ... someone had already started up and I ran through the fire to catch up with them. I also engaged the Pyrelord at the top by cutting through the fire before the druid got completely up there (although he did arrive before the end and I got quest credit).

To be honest, I have no clue which of these may have been the trigger for the despawn (if indeed it was either of them). But I will not be doing either of these actions until I get the achievement.

EDIT: For those who have had the Fire Hawk despawn: I think you have to abandon the quest and pick up a different daily so you can (hopefully) get him back the next day. Once despawned, probably forever despawned.

Ok, so we know at time they reset on US servers...anyone got any info on when they reset on EU servers? I will try to go at 1 AM server time and every hour after that (and sacrifice some Marks). If anyone knows or finds this out before, please post, otherwise I will update my post with correct time.

So about the despawning bird problem. I've made a ticked to a GM. And what he told me is to live with it, abandon teh quest and hope for it again. Also he told that the bird might not appear if the Fire in the skies quest is not supposed to be on this day. So i guess there is no solution for it. Just abandon and hope for it next day.

Can anybody tell me if I the fact that the bombing quest is available depends on your own previous activity, or it is (or isn't there) for your entire server? I just want to know if I just have to run my dailies when I know the right elemental is up, or I need to do them each day to make sure I got a chance of it being available.

I am going to go ahead and clarify an issue that a lot seem to not understand.

This daily is available for the druid talon side dailies (Into the Fire) daily option. Assuming you turned in the marks and did all the requirements for these dailies.

I have kept this daily on my toon for some time now, and trying to get this achievement "Death From Above". I have been working on this achievement for a month now doing my dailies every day, and still missing "Flashfire" NPC.

While holding onto this daily I have had to drop it twice. This was because the bird was not available to mount and go check for the missing NPCs I needed for the achievement. Both times I dropped the daily to pick up one the daily I received was "Peaked Interest". It appears that you cannot do the daily Fire In The Skies when this daily is available for you to do (even though you have this quest in the log in conflicts with the "true" daily Peaked Interest for the daily you have at hand). Also after you do Peaked Interest the next day you WILL receive Fire In The Skies. IF YOU do NOT drop Fire In The Skies and the dailies reset and it is NOT Peaked Interest again, the mounted fire bird will be available for you to mount. As I have tried this as well. However one should ask themselves why not drop it and get the "Peaked Interest" daily for the 2 marks knowing the Fire In The Skies WILL be available to them when the dailies reset? Unless you do not like to do that particular daily.

The NPCs for the achievement Death From Above are not in a set rotation.

The NPCs no longer change as some have mentioned several times throughout the day either. I have checked several days in a row for this and never seen more than the same NPC I found at daily resets.

I have seen the same NPC 3-4 days in a row before.

In my opinion Blazefury is the MOST common NPC found.

Some may disagree with me however I have been farming this achievement for over a month now. The only other annoying achievement to date in my opinion is "Rock Lover" which I have been doing for over 2 months.

Then again RNG just may hate me.

So I held the Fire in the Skies quest for over a week and never had a problem with the bird despawning...until one of the last two mobs I needed actually needed spawned. Flashfire had been spawning nearly every day so I just kept the quest open, no quest mobs bombed. Finally when one i need spawns the bird despawns on me. So my theory, blizzard likes to f*&ck with us.

Being in a group while someone else bombs the achievement mob will not count towards your individual achievement either.

So it looks like Blizzard fixed the glitch where you could hold the quest in your log and just have to do the 4 dailies every day, and you could do the bombing daily every day. I've been doing it everyday with this glitch, but today no fire hawk to mount on. Anyone else seeing this?

In my time doing this ach i have noticed that they spawn when the daily's reset every morning. They are also on a random spawn meaning one day can be heatflayer and the next day can be the same. I have not seen any evidence that they spawn 2 times a day or at 1 o'clock PST unless i was just unlucky and had heatflayer spawn 4 times in a row.

Well, I was basically wondering if you can "bugg" the achievement.. I havn't tried it so I'm just wondering if someone else here have tried it out..
Afterwards you have done quest, when you see a elemental you already have, you press (5) to fly back, then you abandon the quest, and fly back and see if there is a new one?
It doesn't sound as it should work that way, just wondering if someone have tried.

Tried my targeting macro today and nothing came up. The mob was there, but /target no longer worked. Anyone else experiencing this?

Have not once had any of the elementals "change" at any time during the day. Checked every day for twelve days, and aside from the actual dailies changing day to day, none of them have changed.

(Mainly referencing the 1:00 a.m. and p.m. and 4:00 p.m. claims)

Anyone know? I was checking this at server time and pacific time, which is the same on my server. No change.

For those of you finished with unlocking the NPCs and are just trying to complete the achievement...here is the bare minimum you need to complete daily for your shot at the elemental:

Don't bother with the quests outside of the Molten Front portal (unless you still need those achievements, of course).

Go inside, only pick up the quests from:
Rayne Feathersong: Wisp Away or Aggressive Growth
Captain Irontree: Burn Victims
General Taldris Moonfall: Hostile Elements & another random daily

Complete those 4 quests and turn them in. Accept "Into the Fire" from General Taldris Moonfall and perform the quest objective, but DO NOT TURN IT IN. In fact, after you are tossed down the hole into the furnace, just use the thermal vent to hop back out and head over to your "Trained Firehawk" to try for your missing elite elemental(s).

If you need to try again the next day, you only need to complete the four dailies from Rayne, Captain Irontree, and General Taldris Moonfall again. You will still have "Into the Fire" completed, and you will see that the flame mountain is already cleared for you. Go right to your Firehawk and try again!

I hope this helps and saves you some time. I also hope you're luckier than I am.... been trying to complete this for 2 weeks, now. :(

BTW: I would also like to confirm that you can get credit for the Ready For Raiding II achievement without having the quest. I've gotten most of mine while still hanging onto my "Fire in the Skies" quest.

Actually to clarify, once you keep "Into the fire" in your quest log and completed you don't have to do any dailies at all. As long as this and "Death from above" are in your quest log you can go right up the path and to the hawk daily and try for your missing elementals.

Today 08/08/11 after a server restart, there are 3 firelords accessible at once on the EU-Ysondre server.
Do people from other server have the same thing?
Is it some kind of nerfing hotfix ?

As of this morning 8/8/2011 the hawk isn't present anymore when you save the quest.
I had the q from over a week ago and although the questgiver was present with a questionmark over his head, the mount wasnt shown. I guess they changed that in conjunction with 4 bosses beeing present in a single run!

I've just run the Fire in the Skies quest, and 3 mobs for this achieve were up simultaneously. Ragepyre, Blazefury, and Singeslayer. I will run it again this afternoon and see if they change.

After 1pm ST they were still the same three. I will try again after 4pm.

I have never seen 3 or more than 1 up at a time on Uther- US i have saved this quest for about a month and ragepyre has never spawned on this server to my knowlwdge.

Okay, you CAN hold onto the quest in order to speed up getting the achievement. This is how it works.

(For the purposes of this post an egg quest = either the egg stealing or hatchling stealing ones, I'm pretty sure either can trigger a bombing run)

Yesterday morning I had a bombing run available, I flew around partially completing it and noticing the firelord that was up was one I had already. I flew back and logged off. I logged back on late at night (11PM-ish I think) to check to see if the firelords had changed over. I'd already read on Wowhead that this doesn't work but I wanted to see it myself. Sure enough when I got into the Molten Front I still had the partially complete quest in my log but was phased out of the bird (ie I went back to it and it wasn't there) so I couldn't mount up and continue the quest. I abandoned the quest and reaccepted it but it was now an egg quest, not a bombing run.

BUT, that meant that today I got another bombing run since I had done an egg quest yesterday. Now you aren't guaranteed to get a bombing run after an egg quest but at least you don't waste any days doing spurious bombing runs, you just egg until you get the firelord you want. That is, instead of:

Sun: Egg
Mon: Bomb
Tue: Egg
Wed: Bomb (if I'm lucky)

I got:

Sun: Egg
Mon: (Bomb run abandoned) Egg
Tue: (Bomb run abandoned) Egg
Wed: Bomb (if I'm lucky)

This way you will be on a bombing run every day apart from ones where you're unlucky and get another egg run even though you did one the previous day.

Things I'm still not sure of:

1) When does the firelord "click over" for the day (this may be realm-specific)
2) What causes you to be phased out of the bird so that you can't continue the bombing run for the day
3) Do you need to wait until the "click over" time to abandon the quest and get a new one (ie an egg one) or do you just have to wait until you're phased out

My bird was waiting for me as usual... and there was still only 1 elemental. Wondering if I should just complete it and see what happens the next time it shows up....?

EDIT: dropped my Into the Fire and Fire in the Skies, and did all the dailies that allowed me to take Into the Fire. I completed the objective, but jumped out immediately to see if I could get my quests. The NPCs were there, but no quests available. I completed both quests from in the cave, and only then was I able to pick up the additional quests from the NPCs. I am thinking their phasing is tied to the Fireflowers quest?

However, I was offered Fire in the Skies again, and took it.... and still just one elemental. (And it's Hatespark... sorry everyone!) So apparently this is not a uniform phenomenon for all servers. I will see if I can still hang onto my Into the Fire and Fire in the Skies and use them tomorrow.

Doing this Quest since nearly four weeks now and got 5/6 after five days, and Heatflayer wasn't there A SINGLE TIME ... Blazefury like 80% of all time and sometimes Hatespark. The others only once ... i really don't know how it was possible to take a screenshot of Heatflayer, it's like having a photo of a yeti! :-D

Got this and the Veteran achie today. They applied a fix so that (up to) three elementals appear. Although I like it because the last elemental I still needed (Ragepyre) was among them, I think they nerfed it a little too much. All I wanted was a 16.6% chance on each elemental, which wasn't the case before with Blazefury on more than 50% of the runs. I'll just consider myself among those who got it the hard way. :)

Today I had the bombing quest partially completed in my log from yesterday (I wasn't able to get online late last night to abandon it) and when I went back I WASN'T phased out from the hawk. So I could fly out again without any of the abandoning the previous day stuff. This definitely did not work on Sunday, not sure if this is a fix or if the issue is more complex than I thought.

P.S. As far as I could see only Hatespark was up today on US-Thaurissan.

I didn't look before maintenance today, but after the servers came up just now (US-Shadow Council) there are 3 Firelords up: Blaze, Rage and Singe.

Of course, I only need Hatespark and haven't seen him in 3 weeks!

Does this mean the patch changed it so three are up at a time? Here's hoping.

Did the Fire in the Skies quest today and accidently sent my self back too soon. When I went back out, the Firelord had changed from Singeflayer to Blazefury. I completed the quest and returned.

Dropped the quest to try again for Ragepyre because I could not remount after finishing the quest requirements. When I went back out, I got Singeflayer again. Returned and flew back out and this time it was Ragepyre.

Not sure if all of the firelords cycle if you keep returning and going back out. After completing the achievement, I did see at least three if not more out there at the same time.

Hopefully this will help you all get the achievement sooner.

Based on everyone's comments and my own experience it would appear the Blazefury, Singeslayer, and Ragepyre are the only ones that will be up at the same time, not the other 3.

Just a note in case it was lost in the heap of comments here - it is likely the bug with the fire hawk despawning is based on the server resetting and NOT an intentional change by Blizzard.

Server resets seem to reset the Molten Front entirely for all players and will not save which NPCs were active from before. This means while you don't lose the quest, you lose the NPC you needed (Fire Hawk). 1/3 players will of course be lucky and get the Fire Hawk to be up by sheer luck, but the rest of us will have to abandon and fish for the quest again every maintenance and/or emergency server restart.

(Hopefully we can get some +rating on this so people actually see this)

Just finished this achievement, had been waiting for the last one to spawn.

But when I did it today (10th of August) 3 of the elementals were up at the same time. (Blazefury, Ragepyre and Singeslayer).

My guess is that blizzard "fixed" the RNG that followed this achievement with getting the correct elemental to spawn.

Atleast im only missing 1 more npc for Ready for Raiding and I'm totally done with Firelands dailies :)

You are now forced to do Peaked Interest(egg daily) in order to get Fire in the Skies the next day, otherwise even if you keep your Fire in the Skies, the firehawk won't be visible.

I've had the bombing quest in my log for four days, haven't done the egg quest at all, and the firehawk has been there every time I've looked. Also, the same 3 elites as yesterday are still there today (Blaze, Rage, Singe), at least on US Aggramar, so it appears they won't necessarily alternate in two sets of 3. Finally, people are reporting that the other three are up on some servers today, so that guess apparently proves wrong as well. A classic case of drawing conclusions from too little data. :-)

However, when I dropped the bombing quest to see if re-taking it would reset the elites, I found that I could not pick it up again until I went back down to the cave and completed the fire flower quest. I had already killed my 8 flamewalkers for the day, but that wasn't enough to re-take the bombing quest. It appears you have to do both the flamewalkers and the fire flowers to get the bombing quest. (BTW, it didn't work. The same 3 are still there). :-(

This achievement does not want me to do it. As a shaman, I can use Far Sight to see which elementals are up. I check every day, and whenever the elemental I need is up, I didn't get the bombing run quest. Also, they seemed to have fixed it where now if you keep the quest, the fire hawk doesn't always show. At least that was the case for me.

This is old news, but I saw 3 Firelords up on US-Wildhammer and I thought it was some spawning glitch. I come to find out that 3 now spawn at a time, Heatflayer, Hatespark and Flashfire were up for me. Bombed Hatespark and got my Flamebreaker title :D.

Perhaps I'm the only one, but my achievement tracking definitely changed from last night. I decided to keep the quest in my log uncompleted, and did the dailies up to phasing the druids area back into phase, revealing the fire hawk. Upon seeing the same 3 elementals as the day prior, I checked my achieve again to verify the one I needed (Heatflayer, in Beth'tilac's area) was the one I needed, and it tells me I'm only missing Hatespark (bottom left of the initial down-ramp) which I have definitely hit before.

How very odd I find this to be.

So now that the initial excitement of having 3 mobs up instead of one is over, I've got a theory that the 3 mobs are chosen FOR THE WEEK , meaning that obviously there are fewer chances at the one you want per week, BUT you can spend a couple days getting the bombing run daily back ( if you had to do the egg quest etc for some reason) without missing out on what is up. There just seem to be WAAAAAAAAAY too many servers saying htat the same 3 mobs have been up for multiple days for it to be a coincidence (it's that way on US Blackhand as well).

So Im wondering if these guys are on a by player spawn rate. I picked up my Fire in the skies quest the same day of the new patch, i believe three days ago. Left it uncomplete and all three elementals that were up, Blaze, Rage and Singe I had already gotten for my achievement. So I left and came back on the next day expecting to see three different ones or at least one different one up. Nothing, same three were up, so, ok coincidence maybe. Came back today, and yet again the same three were still up. So I asked the general chat what all everyone else has been seeing. Two other people mentioned that just yesterday they had Hatespark up, the last elemental I need. So something is definitly different as far how they spawn, just not quite sure if its different from one person to the next or different days of picking up the quest. So maybe holding on to the quest may not be a good idea after all. Just my two cents, and I hope to see some replies. --Gnatnup - Aman'thul US Server --

Edit: After turning in the quest and completing the egg quest the next day. Nothing changed and the same three elementals were still up the day after, so I held on to the quest seeing that nothing had changed. Finally today I was able to be on and flying on the bird for the quest during the dailys reset and Hatespark finally spawned. Veteran of the Molten Front Is mine, finally after weeks of works.

I have seen Blaze, Singe and Rage for 4 days in a row on Turalyon-EU. But I also have not completed the mission. Maybe you do need to complete it to get a different three two days later.

We had Heat, Flash, and Hate - finally finished, since I got Flashfire. :D

(8/12). I'm starting to think this is right. Four days in a row, same 3 mobs. I'm going to go back and complete the quest and see what happens. I'll post the result when I take it again in 2 days.

1st update (8/13): Today I used Eagle Eye to get a peek at which firelords were up, and sure enough there were Heatflayer and Flashfire. It's really looking like they've changed things so that keeping the quest in your log prevents you from completing the achievement.

No sign of Hatespark from any angle I was able to get to, so I'll have to wait until I can pick up the quest tomorrow to find out for sure if he's the third one. I hope so, because he's the only one I still need.

2nd update (8/14). I hate Blizzard. Rage, Blaze and Singe are back up today. This achievement now officially blows chunks.

3rd update (8/15). Once again it's my off day and the three I need are up again. I'm getting a really bad feeling about this...

4th update (8/16). Sure enough, the wrong 3 are back up again. 8 days in a row I have had only 1 firelord left and I can't complete this stupid achievement. This time I'm keeping the f'ing quest until those bastards show up.

5th update (8/17). Finally got the last one by keeping the quest an extra day, which proves I was wrong at the top of this post. Keeping the quest doesn't force the same ones to respawn.

Good luck to everyone still trying to complete this one. I hope you get it faster than I did.

Ah, now i see, it looks like it will just change randomly day to day, doesnt matter if you keep the quest or not, BUT what made it look so suspicious was seeing the same 3 in a row for multiple days on these servers. I was thinking that it picked 3 out of the 6 and matched them up together (so there would be alot of possible combinations), and the odds of that same combo on multiple days was slim to none, and the odds of this happening on lots of servers even lower. But it appears that there are ONLY 2 combos (heat,hate,flash & blaze rage singe these mobs will ALWAYS be grouped with each other), and it's just a 50/50 shot which one you get. This explains why its not unreasonable to get the same ones 3-4 days in a row, but they still CAN change on any given day instead of once per week. As far as a couple people saying they had this mob or that, maybe they were mistaken/had actually done the quest a cfew days ago/ something, until more people report that anyway.

Been doing this for 5 out of the last 6 days on EU Aszune, and only gotten Blaze, Rage and Singe. The bird despawned on me thursday, so had to do the hatchling quest. Still, no change when I got back the next day.

Tomorrow I'm bringing a fire extinguisher. Or at least a few Globes of Water.

For 18 consecutive days now I have not gotten the daily needed for Death from Above. I have done all the prereq quests to do so. I have 4 out of the 6 guys bombed so I have been doing it right before. But a few days before the hotfix and ever since I have not gotten the daily.

I have read it was a 1 out of 4 chance to get, I have read it is every other day, I have read its the day after a particular quest. None of these, except for maybe the 1 out of 4 chance, is correct. Has anyone else come across this? Is my luck really this terrible for the daily needed?

This daily has not spawned for me since the last day when blizz only spawned 1 elemental. Ive opened a ticket, the gm never even spoke to me. Ive partied with someone and no quest(not fires in the sky) for me but out of no where they just start flying. Something is wrong.

Was odd yesterday when I finally was able to do this quest again, I had to afk and when I came back the bird was gone. I reloaded my ui without luck then deleted the quest only to pick up Peaked interest instead. After completing Peaked Interest I sat at the quest zone while doing 5v5s but noticed the bird was back then a player jumped on it and took off without another bird in it's place. This leads me to believe this quest can in fact be stolen or its a bad file supporting the quest.

for the last 8 quests in a row now. Thats about 16 to 18 days of daily´s :( Only need Hatespark to complete. This is getting really anoying. Over 400 marks of the world tree in my currency tab now because i have to do quest every day to get birdy quest again just to see its Ragepyre, Blazefury, Singeslayer again.

I know this is probably beating a dead horse, but I have to vent. On multiple occasions I have Far Sighted over to the bombing area to find the last 2 mobs I need are up (Heatflayer and Flashfire). Alas, I happily go about doing my dailies to find I don't have the bombing run that day. No matter, I'll get it the next day. I do! And what happens when I fly over there on the bird? Hello Blazefury, Singeslayer and Ragepyre! Again! For the millionth time in a row! I feel like the game is deliberately trolling me now.

I thought the same set of mobs was up for the whole week. They changed on me on a Friday!

I've seen the same three up for the past week as well; Ragepyre, Blazefury, Singeslayer. I NEED Hatespark and Heatflayer and I've NEVER seen them up since this quest was available to me.

If it's bad luck, it's really bad luck. So frustrating!

I'm not sure about the above comments since none of them actually has been completely confirmed from my perspective.

From what i have seen during approximately one week of this quest:

- This quest is the last quest in a "Two-day intervall"-questchain with the or or as the "starter". (What i mean is that the first day you will get one of the above quests and the second day the firehawk has been "trained" and will make you able to start this quest.)

- I've done the quest approximately 5 times and have seen the same Firelords everytime. :( (Which means i don't know the frequency of them changing)(Which also means that they might (only a theory) change everyday since i get this q every second day, but it may also mean that they do not change everyday (e.g. once a week or something)

- They require ONE or TWO bombs to give credit for this achivement.

- You get cred even if they are tagged(Gray nameplates).

- They are insanely easy to spot, since they are huge flaming voidwalkers with armors. (Like no other mob nearby.)

- They are insanely easy to get cred for since you can fly around the area how many times you wish with your firehawk.

- The Molten Giants are harder to kill. (Just FYI)

This is just from my own experience and may not apply to everyone though.

As of 9/13/2011 you can't NOT complete the daily and come back the next day and fly through again. I picked up the quest "fire in the skies" on 9/12, got 3 of the lords (Blazefury, Singeslayer, and Ragepyre) and decided to come back the next day and see if i could get others. Did the dailies in MF all the way to the the fire birds, got there, noooo trained fire hawk. The NPC was still there, with the gray question mark on his head, but no bird for me to take.

Not sure when this was fixed where you can't continue the quest the next day, but it was, at least on Aggramar-US-Horde.

Here's the thing and i Apologies in advance if this has been asked before. I have completed all the fireland daily quests enough to get the flying mount, unlocking all the quest giver NPC's and trying to do this achievement among others.

But even though I see other players riding off on the quest 'Fire in the Skies' I think that is what it is called I can't get it anymore?

Am I missing something?

I've got two toons with who I try to get the achievement. With the first one, I got 5 out of 6 elementals before the change, and I am stuck there. With the second one, I did the quest for the first time after the change, and I got three elementals since; in seven attempts, every time I get the same elementals.

This leads to my question: Am I unlucky or do I need to take other factors into account, like time of day etc.?

I did this a total of three times. On the third time, I was able to get the achieve.

The first two times, the same three elementals spawned. The third time the other set was present.

I try to do these dailies around the same time of day. Maybe I was lucky the RNG had switched which elementals were up. Maybe Blizz has figured out they need to switch it up every few days.

If the third time didn't work I was going to try the trick of NOT completing the quest. Don't Bomb everything required for the quest. Don't turn it in and do try it again at a different time of day, or a different day.

So I've done this quest 10 times now. Same three elementals every single time. I attempted to do the math on the odds of that happening and got:

( 1/6 ) ^ 10 =1/ 60466176

Yeah 1 in 60 million chance of that happening. Unless my math is wrong, which is a very realistic possibility.

Yesterday, I tried accepting the quest, taking the bird for a spin only to find the 3 mobs I've already gotten so I hit the return button and logged out and waited several hours to log back in. Took another run, still the same guys so I logged back out. Next morning I logged back on and still had the quest but the bird was gone and the fire was back so I had to hearth out. I abandoned the quest and did the dailies for the day and lo and behold, got the quest again... jumped on the bird and .... still the same guys... what is the trick? Is it like the Hyjal elites that spawn after the other one is killed? Maybe these guys spawn after the other three are bombed? Help!

So guys.i been trying to complete this achievement. and i have only needing Flashfire. i desided to keep quest without complete.Everyday hawk spawning np but like 5 days in a row same combos show up. so is it stuck with that or does it change %50-%50 ?

Did this today needing three of them - Hatespark, Heatflayer and Flashfire and got all of them in one go!

I've done this quest every time the Firehawk has spawned since I unlocked it (well over one month ago) and every time I've done it I've seen the same three Firelords spawn.
I know it's RNG-based and some people just have crappy luck, but seeing no change in spawn in over 15 attempts seems a little off to me. Anybody else having the same trouble?

Tried this daily 4 times now, all 4 times the same three elementals were up (Flash/Heat/Hate).

Pretty thrilled.

My question: If say... you pick up this quest on Monday and you get Blazefury - and you don't complete this quest but keep it in your quest log until Tuesday - will you get a different spawn ?

As the location of these NPCs is unknown, they stand out of the crowd. The spawn of these three elementals are random, so, you could end up with three different elementals than a friend may have. The locations are specified in the first comment, so coordinates are unnecessary.

If some of you are trying to figure out which daily quests affect what phase so you can see whether Fire in the Skies is up or not quickly then here are the NPC's you need to do the dailies for...
Rayne Feathersong , General Taldris Moonfall , & Captain Irontree . Once you do their dailies you'll be able to select the next daily phase option: Into the Fire. Once you reach Thisalee Crow do her quest. Flamewakers of the Molten Flow is optional, you don't need to do it if you're just wondering if this daily is even available today. The last step is just to check Morthis Whisperwing, if you see a firehawk mount next to him then you'll have to go back and finish Flamewakers of the Molten Flow , if not, then you saved yourself a bit of time. ^_^

After being frustrated on this achievement myself, I stumbled on what seems to be how Blizzard made the elementals spawn.

They literally change once a day, no randomness.
however spamming the in to the fire line would put you on the bomb run once every other day, essentially giving you the same trio every time until the sun explodes.
I only spotted it when I did molten front dailies on an alt I hadn't used and the character had bombing when my main didn't.

In essence, after you do bombing on one day, do the Forlorn Spire line the following day.
Then go back to In to the Fire for the next two in a row.
you'll get the other set of elementals for your achieve :)

only 3 of the firlelord are available to be bombed each day.. dont waste 30 minutes like i did trying to figure out why the hell i couldnt find the rest even though i was using /target commands

Is this quest bugged or been taken out? I have done MF dailies for the last month trying to finish this for the achieve and every day I do the Into the Fire quest in hopes the bird will be there and nothing. Any ideas?

This is what the GM's said to me:

Thank you for your feedback on the Molten Lords. :) We are aware that the lords don't change that often, however, the system is currently working correctly. Also remember that different lords don't spawn unless the previous Lords have been killed. :)

Didn't see this little bit of trivia posted already, but these six plus Kar the Everburning and Volcanus and the apparently missing-from-the-game Smolderas (unless Smolderos the Carbonizer counts) make up the hero names for the Firelord unit in Warcraft III.
