The ONLY thing that sucks about the new Darkmoon Faire is that it's still only once a month.

They're doing all this work... why not leave it open all the time? Seriously. Ugh.

And when 4.3 releases, we'll probably have to wait for 3 weeks before we can see this.

The island is Contested territory, though the immediate Faire grounds is a Sanctuary. The sanctuary area includes the Darkmoon Path leading from the north end of the island where you zone in from Elwynn Forest or Mulgore. (The point where you port in is marked as a vortex on the map.) Return portals to Elwynn Forest and Mulgore are located at the south end of the walk, at the end of the boardwalk; look for the Alliance and Horde banners. The arena near the south end of the island is a free-for-all PvP area.

Darkoom Fair began, as horde in order to go to Darkmoon island you need to go to Mulgore.

You can also speak with NPC Darkmoon Fairy Mystic Mage to teleport you to Mulgore he is located near fly master in Orgrimmar.

For the Alliance, the faire entrance is in Goldshire, Elwynn Forest - 41.82, 68.43 - just behind the NPC Remy "Two Times".

The exit portal from Darkmoon Island is on the docks. There are two portals on the docks, similar to the pair found in Shattrath. (50.54, 90,46) Just follow the main path through the faire heading toward the docks . "You can't miss it." You are ported back to Goldshire - not the to the mage tower, Wizard's Sanctum, in Stormwind.

btw - The portal to Darkmoon Island is free. A previous comment makes it sound like you're charged 10g for the port.

Curious fact: The faire portals in Elwynn Forest and Mulgore are both useable by either faction. The return portals at the faire, though, are faction specific.

If your times in the... living world of Darkmoon Island grow boring, perhaps you should take a trip around the isle looking for the six ghosts, each with their own little tale... But you yourself must be dead to see them...

There is a Vash'jir-style underwater cave under a shipreck on the Eastern side of the island. So far, it's empty, but it's neat to see the little details they put into the island.

Darkmoon Island is a new place to catch a rare fish for One That Didn't Get Away. i caught Steelscale Crushfish after 20 cast.

this is a very detailed area, very good job blizz, well designed quests etc. but i dont like the idea of a week per month. :/. plus, anyone else wondering whats gonna happen with the pavillions or the two caves on the eastern side (one isnt marked on the map, further inland)?

In the northern part of the islands, below the cliffs, there's one tree with five cages hanging from its branches and one leaning against its trunk. Each cage has a skeleton in it, and there's a spike protruding from the trunk with various bones tied to it. Creepy.

I couldn't help but notice the cave in the southeastern part of the island. I did a little exploring earlier today but the cave was empty. Ideal place for a rare spawn on a timer, perhaps?

Some friends and I were running around here and noticed how creepy this place actually is.

There's a vendor in the woods that offers up meat dishes from each major city.

Ships wrecked all over the shores and in the water.

The large eye at the entrance is very LoTR/Sauran/All Seeing Eye. There are also faces on each of the tree trunks at the entrance which just happen to be shaped very tentacle like with teeth on them.

A tree with captives hung in cages, long dead of course. A knife sticking out of the tree.

The banner near Gargantua features a gorilla maiming a unicorn.

In the mountain area the ground is very eerie and red as if covered in blood. There are what look to be remains of buildings as well.

Along the path down there are flashing eyes looking out at you among the tree roots.

If you die you can talk to 7 ghosts that have pats around the island, they will tell you various creepy stories about their lives and the faire. When you're alive these pats look like sparkling wispy trails along the ground.

Look up into the trees and occasionally great flocks of what look to be undead bats will fly around and go straight through the trees.

If you fish off the darkmoon boardwalk you can fish up a new and ever so cute SEA PONY! :D Just got mine. It floats around you in it's own personal bubble and makes assorted noises when you click it. Something for you achievement folks. Drop rate looks to be about 1 in 100.

So get out there and start fishing! :D *added in a screenshot of it* ^-^

Sometimes fishing is sort of influences by mobs. The mobs range from 40ish to 85 wolves but when fishing I roamed and found nodes and got stuff like the savage leathers and so on. Very lucrative

Goodness, the Island become like Elwynn. At least that horror only lasts a week though. It's a great redo of the Faire imo. They made it an event I'd actually *want* to do.

How to break into construction sites:
Step One: Equip you wooly mamoth.
Step Two: Ram into the left edge while spamming your 'jump' key.
Step Three: Dismount and enjoy!

If you're online, it's possible to remain on the Faire grounds even after the Faire "closes" at 11:59 PM (server time) on Saturday night. ~~All of the NPCs remain, and the daily quests for the games will also reset as normal.~~ The Darkmoon Deathmatch prize chest will not spawn if the Faire is not active, however. When you log out, you'll be forcibly ejected to Mulgore/Elwynn Forest the next time you log in.

EDIT: All NPCs on the island now despawn when the Faire closes. With the exception of fishing, there is no longer any reason to remain on the island after midnight.

The Darkmoon Faire no longer stays open after 11:59pm on Saturdays, even if you were already inside before the portal closed.

While the NPCs used to remain active and would even give fresh dailies when reset came (if you stuck around that long), they now despawn shortly after the faire is scheduled to close.

The Deathmatch chest will not spawn.
Vendors disappear.
Even the fishing pools stop spawning.

You can remain on the island if you want, but you're going to be all alone.

To make matters worse, you can still hear the sounds of the faire after everything despawns. You can hear the carnies laughing, children playing, whistles blowing, and crowds rustling, but no one is there.

And you thought this Island was creepy when it was occupied...

There is a way to look inside the tents that are labeled as off limits. There's a guide on YouTube if you search "Darkmoon secret".

i could easily see bliz having the darkmoon island being taken over or cursed in one of the last expantions and having it become a heroic or maby even make it a lot larger and turn it into a kick ass raid. could be cool but id hate to see the darkmoon faire go :(

After playing from some time in the evening to 4 AM doing all things Darkmoon, (mostly fishing Shipwreck Debris) I grudgingly went to bed. I woke the next morn at the crack of noon to fish some more nodes, got bored and bobber hopped some Ally :P, then I decided to lose at the Darkmoon Deathmatch since it was coming up. After another fulfilling loss under my belt it was back to fishing. Then... there it was. We both saw it, a lone floating clump of shipwreck debris. Both of us darted as fast as the flying restriction would allow us to go, but I had the head start. >:D It was with a confident first go that I cast into the node, whilst my foe miscast - befuddled. Though he tried to take what is mine, I triumph this day! HUUUUUZAAAAAH! :D

The preceding is based on the true story of how I finally caught a Sea Pony from Sealed Crate, fished from a Shipwreck Debris node on the West coast of Darkmoon Island as an Ally tried to steal it. :)

Checked today: If you swim/walk on the water south from the cave on the right of the faire on the map, and you die of fatigue, when you release your spirit you end up in Sentinel Hill, Westfall dead. I was taking a guildie on my Grand Ice Mammoth to see how far we could go. We never made it to the end of the ocean, but when we died and ended up in Westfall next to the spirit guide, we were shocked. So, try as you might, you can never get to the end of the ocean as of now.

We know of 7 ghosts. While in the forest you see a tree with 6 cages hanging from a tree. All with skeletons in them. Also there is a skeleton hanging off the tree. And not that far away is an strange undead women selling questionable foods. Perhaps she is their murder?

Everytime I enter Darkmoon Island I cant help but recall 2 quotes from the Puzzlebox of Yogg-Saron

Could Silus himself be the lost lamb, and could something be using the 7 ghosts as 'eyes' to watch whats going on.....
