Our "combo point" heal, for paladins. Looks nice, and will serve to fortify the holy paladins existance as a heavy, burst single target healer, as well as providing Ret and Prot with a nice instant baseline heal that won't eat up their minimal mana supplies. To solidify the fact that this is intended to be used by all three trees at least occasionally, we have the following talents:

Holy - Last Word

Protection - Guarded by the Light.

Retribution - Selfless Healer, amongst others.

I got to love it. With these kind of spells with talents such as the selfless healer in the retribution tree and other interesting class changes like resto shamans casting shocks and lightning bolts, it looks like they're bringing back hybrid classes with full force. This is certainly shaping up to become the greatest expansion ever.

For protection paladins, it could be a strategy cast World of Glory on yourself (modifed by Guarded by the Light) to comsume holy power instead of Shield of the Righteous. It depends on the threat generated from healing yourself vs. damaging the target. Perhaps maybe alternating between the two.

I can see prot sub-speccing into holy for Divinity, Last Word, and Healing Light all increasing the healing power of the instant cast World of Glory.

In my own opinion, this seems to be a pretty close replacement to Holy Light, and a total replacement for Flash of Light - this seems like a pretty versatile heal for pallys.

definitely great for all specs, it is affected mainly by spell power but the talents are setup to work word of glory in somehow

as holy, its definitely the main finisher heal... between holy shock, beacon, and blessed life, holy definitely gets enough holy power to use it often, i guess they want to maintain paladin's being hard to kill in pvp

as prot, its probably the least used, however, it can be used on yourself to create a shield if it overheals, guessing switch to that when incoming damage is extreme (all 3 finishers prot uses also trigger holy shield anyways)... plus the healing itself would cause a decent amount of threat with fury on

as ret, this is where it gets interesting, now I though it was a replacement for art of war heals, but it heals for almost as much as holy's on yourself, you also generate power when kited so its easy to stay alive due to the free power gained off the new pursuit of justice... ret also has an interesting talent, selfless healer, which not only increases the healing done by 50% if used on someone else, but also increases your damage by 4% x HP, so 12% for 10 sec... other specs have talent like that in some way, aka a bonus for being helpful, but its crazy to get more damage out of simply healing someone... and on top of that, ret's mastery can give a free 3 HP finisher which includes this... i heard they say ret's ability as an offhealer was gone but honestly this spell just makes things WAY better

bottom line, train it, hotkey it, love it

For threat yes maybe.

Mitigation? even at 7k shield it's pretty crappy considering your actual health. You would be better served keeping your other abilities up. It's nothing like Sacred Shield. That was awesome, in pvp at least.

Testing on a target dummy with a prot talent spec and without the glyph, at level 80, a 3-stack of Holy Power heals the prot paladin for roughly 7500, and scales roughly via the formula:

Increase in WoG Heal = 0.71 * (Increase in Attack Power) + 0.85 * (Increase in Spell Power)

A Bloody 20 second CD? Does blizzard want me to die or somethin! That became my main emergency heal! If they're gonna take away my only instant-heal, at least make Art of War effect Flash of Light again! THis is bull!

The twenty second CD is likely implemented to prevent ret having way too much heals in PvP; which was definitaly the case. I'm afraid though, 20 second CD on Word of Glory is over the top, it would have been enough if they lowered the healing it does for rets.

As for prots, I didn't see any problems whether in PvP nor in PvE.

People saying that Rets are OP never consider real facts. They just repeat what others are saying.

Take PVE, are we generally doing 30K DPS and other classes 5-10K less? In PVE we compete against other DPS classes but no way we are OP.

Take PVP, are we over represented in the top teams? It is the opposite, true. How were are OP then? Are we OP because you can’t kill us in 5 secs or because we can sometimes do burst damage?

Instant WOG makes Ret playable in PVP, that’s it. Ok, make WOG heals 50% less when applied on others, but don’t make CD on it, it will be ridiculous!

This whole lets make healers do everything trend is really getting old. Let tanks and dps share some responsibilities. The fact that next patch only healers can even dispell magic is bogus too. This change should NEVER be implemented and hopefully Blizzard can figure that out at least. Maybe they should read the tallents Selfless Healer in retribution and Gaurded By the Light, before this gos live.

If you need WoG in order to survive a fight then you should look at your set up for raids.
I admit to popping WoG too, don't get me wrong it is a great backup heal, but if you are going to quit playing until they fix it means there is some sort of a problem with your healers or your avoidance/EHP.
There are a few ways to gain holy power, CS/HoTR, Talent: PoJ through stuns etc, and now as of Patch 4.1 when we use our Grand Crusader Proc within 6 secs we gain a holy power. Based off the cooldowns of the Abilities without the GC Proc you will have to wait for 3xCS (+GCD for each) which will put you at roughly 12 seconds after WoG healing yourself so if you cant survive for roughly 8 secs without dying because you no longer have double WoG heals then like I already stated there is a problem somewhere else this talent change shouldn't make or Break your raid.

I'm sorry but all of these complaints about Protection Paladins suffering because of a 20 second cool down on Word of glory are ridiculous. We have seal of insight, and lay on hands. Word of glory was convenient but it was hardly the be-all and end-all of the prot pally experience. Protection paladins had been successfully steamrolling elites, killing 10 same level mobs at once, and carrying poorly geared dps for years, far before any programmer conceived of WOG. A 20 second cool down won't hurt anybody who knows enough to keep their shield in front of them and their backs to a wall.

From a PvE prot standpoint...

I haven't used WoG at all since Guarded by the Light was nerfed. I didn't even know people did. I've healed for paladins who don't use it, and I've tanked without using it, and I never even notice the difference. The heal is so small, and healing is so easy in the first place, let your healers do it instead. No nerf, just use Shield of Righteousness. Also I'm normally Holy... so I know what's going on with heals.

I'm sorry, but the 20-second cooldown added to this spell is a significant nerf to ret paladins, particularly for PvP. There's been a lot of comments above that claim PvP isn't as important as PvE, but they are both equally important in this game.

Perhaps some players have short memories or don't recall how ret paladins worked before Cataclysm? Before Word of Glory, ret paladins functioned off Art of War -- which frankly was superior to the Holy Power-charged Word of Glory ability for us. It was balanced and fun. It procced either an instant Flash of Light or Exorcism, player's choice. (In the old days, it was all about Seal of Command+Hammer of Justice+critsmackdown, but at least after they changed the seals they kept Art of War.) With that talent set-up gone, and a 20-second cooldown on the new set-up, the instant heal ret paladins had in their pockets are now gone.

Combined with a reduced Divine Shield duration (giving us enough time to get off one or two piddly Divine Lights, or use up all our mana for two or three Flashes, and either way healing no more than 50% of our health, and that's assuming we're not facing one of four or five classes that can dispel our bubble), we now have almost NO heals we can rely on in the midst of PvP combat. After the battle is done, and all the interrupters are dead, we can Holy Light and Divine Light ourselves to the sun comes up. Or bandage ourselves. Or just sit down and eat food.

We're now a hybrid class that can't effectively hybrid. Might as well roll a warrior, 'cause at least they get nifty tricks, and their self-heal seems to proc and stay up all the time. All we bring to the party anymore is a lot of holy damage. Ret paladins were always one-trick ponies (and that was part of the allure), but now that trick is nothing more than flinging ourselves suicidally at the enemy and hope we're ignored as harmless long enough to prove otherwise.

I would like to point out, that Word of Glory does not generate any threat in protection spec, with Righteous Fury or without it. In holy spec Word of Glory does threat normally. Not a huge thing, but makes using WoG less popular for tanks.

Word of Glory's getting buffed hard for Holy in 4.2. +30% healing through base holy talents (those you get when speccing into Holy tree). Along with the buff to critical healing spells (which will crit for 200% instead of 150%), I've heard WoG will crit for 46k, and for 23k uncrit.

PS : For those who don't know, in BiS PvP gear, WoG actually heals for 16k (3 charges of Holy Power) and crits for 23-4k, this spell really feels weak atm. With those buffs, it may be worth to spec into "Rule of Law" 3/3 (arena spec at least), instead of 3/3 "Divinity".

I don't think that the WoG CD introduced with 4.1 is such a "biggie" for protection paladins.
At least not at high level where you have multiple abilities to dump Holy Power.
Though Blizzard seems to have neglected "leveling as protection paladin".
Until level 39 (Shield of the Righteous) a lot of Holy Power is just wasted.

With the recent changes to Word Of Glory, its use has dropped tremendously in PvE. For Retribution, Word Of Glory is rarely used except for a few rare situations, but overall, it's uses are limited. For Protection, Word Of Glory and all talents associated with it are worthless, not to mention Word Of Glory's reduced healing and a 20 second cooldown killed it's use and has made Paladin tanking sometimes unbearable. Blizzard must change Word Of Glory to benefit PvE more, screw PVP, let Paladin's have some kind of super heal in PvP, I don't care as long as Word Of Glory is restored to it's original setting.

or let blizz do some kind of undispellable eternal debuff that appears whenever you do arena/bg that does things like nerf wog and whatnot, call it "battle panic" or whatever suits and use it to balance pvp after balancing pve
