Free mana potions?

Why was this not used before, could've served as a nice boost to PvE engineering, where it seriously lacks behind.

Note: you do need Mythical Mana Potions in your Bags. I for one was super disappointed in this tinker, thinking it'd be magical and produce its own mana somehow. Testing mana return values as we speak

This can be discovered randomly while crafting other engineering items. You can not learn this ability at a trainer.

Recipe is discovery type - not sure, if you need luck or you learn it just automaticly when reach certain skill level.
ITS NOT FREE MANA POTION - to use it, it require Mythcal Mana Potion in your inventory
It does stack with Lifebound Alchemist Stone, giving you total : 17.3k mana

About Discovery :
- You "randomly" get enchants to your gloves and belt when crafting engeneering recipes.
- Recipe is always gray so cant train on it
- Belt accesories require skill 500 to use, but you can apply them to item earlier.
- You can learn them before skill 500

Current known facts from testing these at this time:

- Stacks with Enchanting enchants.

- The Engineering enchanted glove's tooltip reads

Use: Injects a Mythical Mana Potion directly into your bloodstream, increasing potency and restoring 10730 to 12470 mana. (1 Min Cooldown)

or

Use: Injects a Mythical Mana Potion directly into your bloodstream, increasing potency and restoring 11600 mana. (1 Min Cooldown)

- Consumes and requires a Mythical Mana Potion to be in your bags.

- Will not work with any other potion.

- The cooldown is shared with regular potions.

- The cooldown does not start ticking down until you exit combat.

- These produce a 16% Mana increase over just using Mythical Mana Potion.

-You must use the cooldown on the gloves to receive this benefit. Drinking the Mythical Mana Potion normally will not result in a 16% mana gain even while wearing Engineering enchanted gloves.

I trained engineering to 525. This remains the only tinker I did not discover yet. So, it is not guaranteed.

for those who have not yet discovered this or are about to start doing engineering.. I don't know if this will help or not, but just a tip: I did all of my engineering leveling from 450-525 using the multi-point creations and ended up discovering this. In other words, some items have a number out to the right of them (a 3 or 4 or 5) which indicate that you don't just get one skillup, you get that number amount. Perhaps by only leveling with multi-point items it increases the likelihood of getting it?

Just a quick note regarding the tinkers overall,

I believe there may have been an issue regarding a maximum number of tinkers being allowed in your recipe book as I read a few places that talked about a 15 tinker limit. I have as of this post learned all 16 of the tinkers in the game however the last tinker was recently when I leveled from 525 to 540 (Yay for Gnomish ingenuity.)

There is no higher chance with orange/yellow/green skill ups, I learned may be two tinkers this way the rest were doing the more exciting parts creations to make guns, scopes and storage boxes. I scored several tinkers right away doing the first lot of bolts (3 tinkers off of grey combines and none off of the subsequent yellow and oranges I made.)

I had not managed to max my engineering skill prior to Cataclysm so it was at 463 when I started.

Curious if anyone at level 74 and below has been able to "discover" this? On my 70 character I enabled the Cata trial and only did cata recipies from 425 to 450 but didn't find any... I am stuck at max engineering a 450 and while I can keep making cata stuff at 450 and below I can't get any more skill ups in engineering so not sure if I will ever be able to get any of these...

Engineering Tinkers -- bug and subsequent fix

There were 8 engineering tinkers introduced in Cata. Unlike most recipies they are not trained but a random chance to discover while you make any cata engineering item. However there was an issue where if you only knew 7 of the 8 when you hit max skill, you could not learn the 8th tinker.

Last night Blizz hotfixed in a solution:
Engineering
* All eight of the Engineering discoveries are now able to be learned through crafting the Overpowered Chicken Splitter at max-level Engineering.

If you are max engineering and only know 7 of the tinkers, craft this and you should learn the final one. Be wary as it won't teach you anything else if you already know all 8.
If you happen to hit max engineering and don't even know 7 of the 8 (and thereby need more than 1 to learn), crafting this item at max skill teaches you only one of the tinkers, not all of them remaining.

The 8 tinkers are:
Cardboard Assassin
Grounded Plasma Shield
Invisibility Field
Quickflip Deflection Plates
Spinal Healing Injectorp
Synapse Springs
Tazik Shocker
Z50 Mana Gulper

This is confirmed to be working and seems to have a 100% chance to teach you a tinker.
