Although Overpower itself causes the most damage when using a 2-handed weapon, a fury-specialized warrior dual-wielding will benefit too; the critical strike from the overpower will activate flurry, increasing attack speed and therefore damage. Do not overlook Overpower in a Fury build, or a Fury build altogether :)

Additionally, being as that Overpower is only useable after dodge, and cannot be dodged (blocked or parried), it is an excellent "rogue-slayer" ability.

In the new patch 2.0 you shouldn't go for imp Overpower if you want a full fury build. At lvl 70 you can get Imp Overpower together with rampage, but at lvl 60 you will have to choose betwen rampage or imp overpower.

This, like most dps warrior moves, is best used with slow 2handers. It does instant weapon damage, so if your using a 2.2 speed weapon its not going to do alot of damage. Plus, the slow 2 handers also give you more damage on mortal strike and rend.

Step 1: charge and autocrit healer, applying MS. With the amazing damage you do they're already in the highest pressure situation there is.

Step 2: rend target and wait for them to cast heal.

Step 3: When target has to eventually cast more than instants because you do absurd damage and have MS up, you overpower them. You now have 6 seconds of double ms.

Step 4: bladestorm. Dead. If it doesn't finish them off pop a charge autocrit again and execute.

But I really just like the part where I get double MS'd.

Still seems worth it popping evasions versus Warriors. Rather get overpowered every 5 seconds than get hit by MS, HS, execute procs, everything else they can throw at you.

At late gear when 80 with the right talents this is the hardest hitting ability a warrior has not counting a execute finish. If you stack enough strenght/ap and have a 3.6 high damage weapon this will outburst slam, ms, and even execute procs, with less global cd, rage and spamable, yes op shall be found op in the comming patches when gear is getting even better. (want to see OP crits from frostmourne :o)

One of the most useful abilities for leveling an arms warrior. With Improved Overpower, Taste For Blood, and finally, the glyph you tear through mobs extremely quickly.

This move is very effective against rogues who use evasion. So if rogue use evasion keep an eye on overpower cause that goin to be your big move against the rogue.

Here's a handy tip to use vs classes OTHER then rogues.. (since that's just retaliation+overpower spam)

Try to pool around 80 rage and have Taste for Blood and Sudden death procced at the same time.

Make sure rend still has around ~8 seconds left to allow another Taste for Blood soon after this combo.

Then run away, charge (this tops off your rage) back in, and hit it with Overpower, Execute, Heroic Throw and a Mortal Strike and top it off with a Bladestorm (IF it still lives!)

Almost nothing can survive that. Especially if that Overpower got him while casting with https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=46860

Some warrior used that on me a while ago (I had 800 resilience) and it toke away around 70-80% of my total health and reduced my healing by 75% for 6 seconds.

Enough time to finish me off.

Has anyone noticed whether Overpower is still normalized, given the removal of the bonus damage?

The reason I ask is that my understanding of the normalization patch many moons ago excluded Hemorrhage based on the absence of any bonus damage attending the attack. Whirlwind was not exempt for fairly obvious reasons. In the final accounting, a case could be made in either direction but my gut-level response was, "It should technically be made exempt but in practice, not so much, given its overall power when combined with talents."

I recall Overpower being a proc on parrys , and it actually is that way.Think about it.
Warrior (best swordsman in WoW) crosses blades with another melle fighter (parry) so the warrior uses his outstanding physical stenghth to "Overpower" his opponent . I cant imagine how he can Overpower something that dodged his attack .

In pvp if you save the buff from Taste for Blood for the last 3 seconds (6-9) you can get a "double-proc" which makes it easier to get Unrelenting Assault debuff on your target (caster).

Well ofc is Rogue slaying spell,but it is also a good damage dealing ability.After chargin to a target warrior should always use Rend,and then you have the Taste for Blood and pew,u have Overpower waiting for ya.One of the best warrior's abilities in my opinion.

The most effective way to use Overpower in PvP is to time it with your Taste for Blood buff. Here is a timeline based around Taste for Blood that will show you when you should use Overpower to get the most "burst damage".

The following timeline shows a full duration of Rend and how it effects Taste for Blood showing the best windows of opportunity to use Overpower.

The times you want to use Overpower have around them. You can use your first Overpower at 4s left on Taste for Blood and rend will tick the next second refreshing Taste for Blood allowing you to use a second Overpower immediately after. You can do this twice in a single application of Rend however Mortal Strike refreshes Rend with the Lambs to the Slaughter talent. This means the most effective way to track your double Overpower usage is by watching the remaining time left on the Taste for Blood buff.

This ability makes no sense to me, what-so-ever. The warrior is supposed to OVERPOWER their enemy, they can't do that if the enemy doesn't attack. I don't care if I get downrated for anything anymore, so w/e. This is what I think it SHOULD do...

You have an xx% chance, when struck in melee combat, to Overpower the enemy's attack, negating all damage, disarming them briefly, and causing xx% of the damage they would've caused you.

Just my opinion. Downrate at will.

MoP will bring the following changes to Overpower:

Weapon damage 125% -> 100%

60% Crit chance talent removed, but baked into the ability itself

Mortal strike replaces Rend ticks as the trigger for Overpower, and Overpower has a 30% chance to re-trigger itself on use

Overpower is now Arms only

I am 16 level human warior, armed with 2handed axe. I can't use Overpower. I have it in my spell book, but can't make it. My enemy dodged, i have enough rage but can't do it. I have put it in my action bar, but it never goes brighter like all other spells i have put there. Should I replace the axe with a sword or ....
