One of the worst spells in the game. Only really usable on Hunter Pets to reduce the damage they do to you, which lowers their annoyance level.

This curse is extremely effective against druids in cat form and hunter pets, or any other enemy with a fast attack speed.

One should not underestimate this. -10% physical dmg is more than some people might think at first. If you're losing a fight and the enemy has no decurser, or in any kind of PvE, the effect is quite noticable.

This is best used in PvE instances against melee bosses. It takes less of a toll on the MT and healer. Very effective considering it can be amplified 50% (Afflic spec) and last's 2 min. Decreasing any bosses melee by 625 is usually the difference between victory and defeat.

It's only really useful for when you duel a Hunter/another Warlock, and drop this on their pet. Although, another use I've found for it is helping Hunters tame pets by using this on the beast they are trying to tame, reducing the damage it does to the Hunter.

This final rank will prove very useful because it increases time between melee and ranged attacks by 20%. It would synergise well with Shadow Embrace. Tanks and healers will appreciate it very much.

Of course, other spells like Curse of Doom may be more useful in different situations, but in a straight tank and spank fight, this spell deserves consideration.

20% will also prove usefull in pvp, to slow down fast attacking melee that are chewing through your vast resevoirs of stamina,CoE might be preferable to get them off you though.

It also will provide a huge boost to situations where you have either non-spec OT's or classes not normally used for tanking.

I only have PTR access, but the earlier ranks do not have the 20% attack speed reduction. And Wowhead does not yet list a 20% reduction for the max rank either! :(

for those that dont have your DEF skill at max you can always goto the tram and AOE curse every rat forcing them to attack you.

30 + rats biting at your ankles will raise your DEF up while you go do something valuable with your life. Like showering.

Apart from dubious raid usefulness, I found this spell very useful when soloing hard-hitting elites. Although the AP reduction seems minimal, my Voidwalker was much easier to keep up when this curse was used instead of a damage curse.

I bet this would be useful in PVP when your target is a warrior and you see them cast spell reflect. Obviously you don't care about AP reduction as a lock, and we're already in a dress, is 2% armor reduction anything worth worrying about? Seems to me you could cast this to instantly remove SR and keep killing the warrior. It has a low mana cost and is instant.

so they took curse of weakness, which i can only recall using once while leveling and quickly discovered it was a waste, and cure of recklessness, which was useful because it kept humanoids from running and aggroing more #$%^, and turned them into curse of uselessness. if you use this during a raid or even comtimplate using it during a raid, you are a dumb warlock. just bad... just, ehh, down to your core and not in a good way. in pvp such a spell would be trivial any way because you are still gonna get nom nomed by that rogue/dk/warrior/droog/smashadin.

Seems like it reduces the number of hit points damaged per hit. What I'd like to know is if it affects ranged damage.

The way it reads leads me to assume ALL damage is deduced by the number in the spell description, depending on the rank of the spell. What I would like to share with my fellow Locks is that this curse is USELESS, as 100% of the time it is better to cast Curse of Agony then this curse. Save your money and don't even train for this spell.

Does anybody ever really not buy a spell, especially at the advice of a post? C'mon, man, yeah most of the time your using curse of agony but against quick attackers this adds up.
Take Rank 2, -10 dmg. Assume they are attacking at a rate of 1.5, over 30 seconds, thats 200 dmg. once a second, 300 damage. 60 seconds 600 dmg. full duration of 2 minutes 1200 damage. Lotta ifs, but still.
People don't appreciate damage mitigation its all KILL KILL KILL or HEAL! HEAL! theyd rather get healed for 100 damage then spared 500.

Although, they COULD give it a little more bang, considering its limited uses.

buying rank 1 of this curse is really useful, as you dont't get an alternate curse before level 8. But I agree that the higher (especially the highest rank) of this ain't worth it at all.

If many warlocks cast this spell on the same target does it stack? Going a raid with one warlock in each group and everybody cast the last rank of this spell on a enemy, well thats 32*8=256 dmg per hit. Thats a big ammount of dmg. Using it on a really fast hitter you can get him down to nearly no dmg at all. But that suppose it stacks of course

I like to use Curse of Weakness on low levels who are trying to kill some NPCs. It's also quite useful against Rogues and a Hunter's pet. Otherwise it's pretty much crap.

Curses don't stack, so that wouldn't work at all. And who's gonna get 40 level 60 Warlocks to be raiding in the same instance at the same time?

i think its ok i use it alot wen there is like 3 guys attacking my voidy. so i cna focus on one target and fear it without the argo cause it dose no damage .

I like to use it like a suport course, in the main target i use CoA but i use this one in the rest that are ataking the tank so he can live a little longer. But i would apreciate your advice to know if this tactic is useful or not.

if your taking the damage--curse of weakness
i'd recomend--curse of agony all around

but say your being attacked by a hunter+pet

I personally never use this. CoA is much better for any mob or player. The dmg migation just isn't enough to be worth using over CoA. If there are 2 mobs attacking my pet, I would use CoA and Corr on both targets, because when im finished with the 1rst mob, the 2nd one is already at 3/7 health.

Before the patch I loved using this on hunter pets.

True story: I was fighting a hunter in Azshara, we were both around whatever level range is appropriate there. He sent his pet after me, I put an Amp'd Curse of Weakness on his pet, his pet was hitting me for 1 DAMAGE. 1 white damage, that's it. I leisurely enjoyed killing the hunter while the pet nibbled at me.

I actually found a use for this now. I gank a lot, so what i do sometimes, is cast this on a player, then cast curse of recklessness on teh mob, and watch the player die and have to pay the bill. hehe.

as an affliction guy in the early lvls of the game before the evil beastmastery huge red frenzy beasts,
all i would do is target the beast cast this curse of weakness then cast siphon life on them this would nullify their attack so much that ud only be taking 20dmg at higher (mid) lvls like 30s and 40s bgs

then i would attack the hunter and he would be at a loss

Wait until 70, go find some level 20 warrior trying to grind, do curse of weakness on him and curse of recklessness on the mob he's fighting...watch him get eaten.

I finally recognized what this spell is for. DRAIN TANKING. It is similar to the Shadow Embrace talent/debuff. If you're tanking, you're generally not the DPS, so this is a good spell to use instead of CoA.

combine this with tainted blood and makes felhunter a decent tank for migrating spell damage with its resists and physical with all the ap debuffs
