Yet another off-tanking utility talent as is Divine Guardian Edit - Old Divine Guardian directed damage towards the caster when the caster used Divine Shield.

This may prove to be useful for Holy or retribution paladins in PvP for getting out of a polymorph or sap when the trinkets and Divine Shields are down (much like Hand of Sacrifice), but this is a real disappointment for a protection paladin as it does not do much for them.

The only times I can see this being useful for a main tank is for random aggro, when you're not taking enough damage for mana (which is no longer an issue with Blessing of Sanctuary and Divine Plea) or if the raid is taking too much damage when you're not.

Not worth taking or placing on your action bar unless you heavily off-tank.

This would be great for fighting Priestess Delrissa if they decide to focus fire on you healer who is a clothie.

This would also be great talent for PVP as holy as a count to Preventing some polymorphs and saps.
If this works, its like a second hand of sacrifice.

It's hard to think of occasions where this'd be useful...

I think it might be handy against Thane Korth'azz, due to Meteor or Kel'thuzad, to make Frost Blast less nasty.

Those of you who think this might be a bit too much, remember that the highest amount of damage this redirects is 150% of the Paladin's max health, so if you simply use Divine Protection, there is no risk of you dying directly due to using this spell.

It should also be noted that much like its talented version, you can still redirect the damage at yourself, even if you're immune to it, so if you're not tanking, this would work well with Divine Shield.

I don't understand this spell. Druids, Death Knights (Blood) and Warriors all have fairly equivalent emergency buttons. Paladins, however, lack an appropriate Last Stand. Sure, we get a raid-wide shield wall, but that's not what the other classes have.
This talent will probably be removed soon. It'll be for one of two reasons:
1. QQ on the Paladin forums will get something useful in its place.
2. QQ on the opposing tank forums will get the talent removed because only Paladins have it.

I tried to macro this to divine shield today but it didn't work. My guess is that it is not off the GCD. Can anyone confirm this? If its on the GCD i'm not taking this talent-

...that takes 120% of everyones damage, 120-40=80% so everyone will come out alive with atleast 20% hp left.

120-40% = 72%. People are left with 28% max HP

Shouldn't the tooltip be read as :

".... damage taken by party or raid members, up to a maximum of 150% of the Paladin's health, is redirected to the Paladin"

Meaning ALL damage is redirected to the paladin as long as that damage(single hit) doesn't exceed 150% of the paladin's health.

Ran some tests the other night on Heroic25 Twin Valks, and it would appear that the damage reduction is once again capped as a function of the Paladin's total HP.

Here is a ret build that incorparates full DPS talents with divine sacrifice.

NOTE: that the requirements of talents in seals of the pure to maintain maximum DPS mean that the retadin is limited to the 30% raid reduction, rather than the talented 40%

The 5 talents in divinity could alternatively be placed in the 2nd tier of the prot tree, however as a PVE spec i think the boost to healing by divinity is more beneficial to the raid as it makes things easier on your healers.

obviousley a tank cannot use divine shield in conjuction because, as many of u have stated, they will lose aggro. Holy cannot take this talent as it means sacrificing important talents in the retribution tree.
