If you have this buff on you, Hodir will save you on receiving fatal damage by putting you into an ice block for 10 seconds. You will not sustain any further damage while in it, but you will also not be able to do anything or move. Healers can and should heal you, though.

Note that when Hodir has recently saved someone, his protective gaze will be on cooldown for a few seconds and you will not have this buff on you. There thus is no guarantee you will always be saved.

The shortest time interval between 2 applies of this ability I found in my guild logs (10ppl) was 27 seconds.
So I can assume, that cooldown is about 25 seconds.

Also Hodir sometimes freezes 3 targets at a time.

When we hit his enrage timer, which instantly kills everyone in the raid, Hodir was somehow able to freeze all of us at once. The enrage message popped up again a few seconds later, finishing us off. It appears that he can save more than one person if they die at the *exact* same time, as unlikely as that is.
