The way this ability is worded atm: "Your pet attempts to remove all stun and movement impairing effects on the target, and cause them to be immune to all effects for 4 sec." makes it seem that it can be used on both friendly units and enemies.
Though I believe that this is a friendly ability only.

In case anyone is wondering stands for "not yet implemented" so it's a placeholder for now, 1 minute cooldown for a 4 second buff allows for panic defenses and new tactics and offenses. As stated above, it will most likely be able to be used on attackers, so think of it as a hunter "cyclone".

It would be awkward to target a friendly person being stunlocked and use this ability the retarget your enemy. You'd probably be dead by then.

Seems that this will work a bit like a self-devour, taking the mentioned negative effects off you if you use your pet on yourself (or another friendly).

Seems like it will be a little cackhanded to pull your pet back from whatever it is mauling to take some effects off you/your team, or maybe this will work from range?

With the recent release of Intervene on pets ( https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=53476 )

This ability is now more feasible and you will most likely be able to create a macro to target your healer and break whatever effect is on them. Assuming that your pet is of the tenacity tree and that Master's Call doesn't have an intervene function built in when it's released.

The macro will be something to the effect of:

/target <healer name>
/cast intervene
/cast master's call

As of now in beta, you can no longer use this ability while stunned...

...Which makes no sense whatsoever. It was included in the patch notes, and the board patroling devs Koraa and Ghostcrawler seemingly refuse to comment on it, so I'm assuming it's intended.

you can just set your focus on a target, and maybe add that to the macro?

i believe that "Focus Target" will be implemented in WOTLK.. :)

Use this macro if your hunters name is Slashignoreu like mine is, to target yourself. It's simpler and more elegant than using assists or targetlasttarget.

Aparently this has been changed to be unuseble when stunned (not defeating the perpose, just to stop people from useing it on themselfs

I will probably only use this on myself in PvP. Save the cooldown for me! So the macro I use is just a really simple one.

Works. So, if it was bugged at all, it's fixed now.

Edit: Tested this macro again, as long as no friendly thats in your party or raid is targeted, it will selfcast. Otherwise, you can cast it on a friendly target by selecting them.

Probably because it's not hard to find that information yourself. Search in your web browser for "master's call" on a list of recent Patch Notes to find it. It's possible that you didn't notice that is actually underneath the Bug Fixes section .

Reading all the Patch Notes would work, too.

why all those complicated macro's? if you're gonna use this only on yourself just toggle Autoselfcast. when you'll use Master's Call your pet will automatically breaks YOURS snare 'n roots.

I thought this ability was sort of seperated from "The Beast Within" so you could'nt be cc'd for 4 seconds (6 with the glyph) but all it does for me presently is work like a trinket getting me out of one hold but nothing after the first CC as it says in the tool tip. So I presume this is either broken or it has a nerf that is not yet reflected in the description.

Does not seem to work on stuns at all, not even if you use it just before the stun. If memory serves me correctly that wasn't the case prior to this 4.0.1

Well, the tooltip doesn't say anything about removing stuns. Only root and movement impairing effects.
I can see how it would be good in some situations if the pet could remove those effects from itself but why it's target? Is there any way to let the pet target yourself through macros or something?
Because if the pet would be removing those effects from an enemy target then this spell is rather stupid.

Yeah, the description had me confused at first as well. I was like 'well, guess I gotta make another stupid macro for another stupid hunter ability' but it's actually quite useful.

This can completely protect you from some harmful ground targeted AoEs with a snaring component (Like the ice patches utilized by both the conclave of wind and Al'akir, or the poison pools left by heroic Bethtilac's engorged broodlings), so using this ability when one is dropped on you or when you need to cross over one will get you out of it faster, and unharmed to boot.

The cooldown has been increased to 45 sec and is now dispellable despite being physical ability (this is done via hotfix)... this really hurts hunters, now they can be keeped slowed really easy.
If they are trying to keep it in line with hand of freedom, why up the CD to 45 sec. The hand of freedom is only 25 sec.

EDIT: This ability is also spell steal-able by a mage. Really the worst way to handle hunter mobility.

I had this spell for about 4 months, trained and forgotten in my spellbook. One day I respecced, and re-arranged my abilities, and was like "wait a minute, what's this?"

My PvP life changed forever.

Facts:
-requires line of sight (hunter - pet)
-the spell can't be used if either the Hunter or his/her pet is under an effect that makes either one or both of them unable to do anything
-after using this the Hunter gains a 4s lasting (glyphed: 8s lasting) magic* buff that makes him immune to snare and root effects

*stealable, dispellable

Personal experience:
The 40y max range on this spell makes it so that the Hunter often gets his ass kicked when any PVP guy adds to a battle -> Rogues, Ferals, Deathknights and Warriors require kiting. So you (as a Hunter) stay at max range and kite but send your pet out to dps the enemy. If anything jumps you now your pet is most likely too far away to use this skill. Same if anyone fears your pet etc. Happens a lot to me and always annoys the hell out of me because I really could use that skill then and there - but no. Can't.

My macro for this spell:
/cast Master's Call

-This will try to buff targets with root- and movement-immunity in that priority: mouseover friendly target, selected friendly target, yourself (if an enemy or no one that can gain the buff is selected)

"Your pet attempts to remove all root and movement impairing effects from itself and its target, and causes your pet and its target to be immune to all such effects for 4 sec." - unless you are dazed by ... let's say Avenger's Shield (Alliance Paladin Infantry @Tol Barad)

Daze doesn't count as 'movement impairing effect'. Thx 4 saving me, helping tooltip. Oh wait...
