I once asked: so you skill BM, tame an exotic pet, and then unlearn your talents... what happens?

Well, it turned out to be like this: Unlearning your specialization, or changing your spec with dual-spec, dismisses your current pet. You can have exotic pets in your active pet list while not in a BM spec, but you obviously can't summon them. You can move them from the active list to the stable, but not the other way around.
Not being able to summon them also means you can't abandon them, though, so you'd have to spec BM to "clean up" your stable if it holds exotic pets.

It will allow the hunter to tame rare white Siberian tigers, and make them perform tricks for everyone's amusement. The talent will also convert the hunter's armor into a sequined jumpsuit, and make their hair into long, flowing blonde locks.

Well, this is speculation as I dont have a beta key, but I would imagine the main purpose of this ability would to allow you to attain the new super pet abilities that will be unique to these "exotic" pets. For example the ones with the 5-6 minute CD's that return 40% mana or the one that adds 10% dodge + 10% health (TANKARIFIC) for 45 seconds. Just my 2 cents.

My guess is this applies to creatures labeled as Beasts but not tamable. IE basilisks and chimeras and gryffins. Whelps and dragons are classified as dragonkin so we probably lose out on that. As for changing your spec and still using your exotic pet i'm sure Blizzard will nerf that if they haven't already.
The big thing though is it gives you 5 extra talent points for your pet. Those points can come in really handy.

I don't know why, but I have an ambivalent feeling about this talent. We BM hunters will either still be one of the best DPS classes for Raids and instances, or we're going to be ganked. If this talent is worth the 51 points, might there be a chance we can tame any of the dinosaur from Un'Goro, like the Devilsaur,https://www.wowhead.com/cata/npc=6498 or a Hydra https://www.wowhead.com/cata/npc=18213#. That would be awesome.

If you check the pet calculators, youll see that there are per talents that can only be obtained once you take this hunter talent.
The result is that your pet is able to specialize into a new attack of your choice, which are very nice, from party buffs, to extra intimidates and BW

It would be nice to tame a Mana Wyrm. Cool guys. It'd even be better if they had a not-so-overpowered mana burn effect.
I doubt that big birds like wyverns, hippogryphs, chimeras and other big guys like kodos, thunder lizards, elekks will be tameable. Devilsaurs, worms, diemetradons and basilisks are more plausible.
It would also be nice to run around with your zhevra or stag. Wait, what about taming a zhevra and mounting it? Woah, nevermind.

I manidged to get all 3 t5 specs I don't know if you can do it with the other 2(3 exotic) too but you probably can.

I think people are over-looking perhaps the most important part of this talent. Sure, having a Devilsaur pet is awesome, but the extra 5 talent points for your pet is what really catches my eye.

That's the difference between having something like: https://www.wowhead.com/cata/petcalc=cMdczbh0MM for a pet talent build and something like: https://www.wowhead.com/cata/petcalc=ccdczbhbMr0o. In PvP, that will make quite a difference, I think.

As a previous posted pointed out, your pet gets 1 talent point every 4 levels. So, in one sense, it's like increasing your pet's level by 20. Not shabby at all when the bulk of your damage is coming from you pet already.

The big draw will be an extra 5 pet talent points, which if you play with the wowhead pet talent tool and activate the bonus points pretty much means you can get everything you could possibly want out of the talents at level 80.

The real question thats coming to my mind is how many Exotic pets will be in game before WotLK goes live. In my mind all being fair there should be an equal number of pets from each tree. So when they added Core Hound and there were 2 ferocity, 2 tenacity, and 2 cunning Exotics I thought Blizz might be done, now with Spirit Beasts added I wonder if we'll also get 1 more Tenacity and 1 more cunning Exotic pets. If so my vote is for somehow getting a Barrens Zhevra or Giraffe in there somehow. Ever since I ran through Barrens I've wanted to be able to tame one of those, or a Kodo of course, but those are to similar to Rhino's so i doubt we'll see tameable Kodo. Either way If my logic holds I think we can look foward to at least 2 more Exotic pets.

having taken some prolonged and thoughtful views on the new talent trees as they are displayed on current (3/10) wowhead talent calculator, i personally wont be taking this talent at level 80. the strength of this talent relies on the now 4 extra pet talent points the hunter receives, but at level 80, in a pure dps build (ferocity pet), there are no dps relevant talents opened up by these 4 extra ones, so i would rather ignore this and take readiness as the 21 pointer in the MM tree where it has been moved to.

with beast mastery you gain a few extra survivability options for your pet, and a small bonus to the dps your now exotic pet does, but with readiness, you can go, in a 10 min fight, from just 5 Bestial Wraths, and 3 rapid fires, to a whopping 9 Bestial Wraths and 6 rapid fires. if anyone can come up with numbers to demonstrate the bonus gained from these extra cooldowns pls reply to this. obviously with readiness where are other smaller scale percs. for example Feign Death, Misdirection and traps, and to a much lesser extent Kill Shot.

if i am way off the mark pls tell me, but as it stands right now, i do not see this talent as worth the point right now :(

/Beg for that i can tame a kodo whit this one :D, cuz taming a kodo was like the only thing that had me to lvl up a hunter and then i tried to tame one at lvl 10... and well i couldnt so i had to stick around whit a wolf -.-

One reason to never spec in this: All exotic beasts tend to stand over your loot, and yes (for the most part), they are rather huge.

A new Spirit Beast has been found on the 3.1 Public Test Realms.

His name is Gondria: he is a Spirit Beast in family, he is Exotic and uses the Ferocity tree, he is a rare elite, he knows Spirit Strike, he looks a bit like a cat — and he doesn’t look anything like Loque’nahak.

And no, I didn’t find him. :> BRK posted about Gondria early this morning (and gave me a head’s up around the same time), but I was deep asleep.

It looks like Gondria was found by Wowhead user flatty and first reported there. You can check out all the info yourself on the Wowhead forum thread — including a map of the only spawn point we know so far.
(My thanks also to all the readers who e-mailed me to make certain I’d heard about this new find!)

I feel dumb as a level 40 hunter asking this but how do you get these up? Do you just tame a beast close to your level, keep it for a few minutes then abandon it and tame another or is there something to it?

Actually you can get beast mastery at lvl 55 if you get the skill list configured right.my hunters 45 so i'm close.

At level 80, the four extra points that are added by Bestial Wrath allow someone to get both ranks of Wild Hunt and Shark Attack, both of which are great boosts in any ferocity pet's damage. Without this talent, you would be able to get one point in one of these. That's a pretty big difference in dps, and you get it for one talent point. Then, you also get to choose from any pet, but who knows how much of an added bonus that really is. However, because both Readiness and The Beast Within don't work with each other anymore, skipping this and getting Readiness is rather pointless, unless you want to be able to use Rapid Fire, (among other abilities) whenever you wish.

This talent, (in my opinion,) is most certainly worth the talent point, more so than Readiness. But I'm not sure what the deifference in dps is between the two, so I might be wrong- who knows?

so one thing no one has ever asked, oddly. What happens if you (in the new system) have an exotic pet in pet slot 3, and then dual spec into marksman. Does the pet go right to the stable or is it just unable to be summoned until you dual spec back to beast mastery?

Hive Controller is easily one of the coolest pet skins, to top it off, Aqiris (Cunning) have great tamed abilites. ( & )

Jadefang is a rare of the Shale Beast (Tenacity) animal family, which also have great tamed abilities. ( & ) Though Jadefang is often farmed for Tiny Shale Spider.

Ghostcrawler ia a popular rare of the Spirit Beast (Ferocity) animal family, which also have great abilities. (Spirit Mend, & Spirit Walk) There are also other, some may say, cooler models too like Loque'nahak.
