At least it is undispellable now... a minor improvement but still sadly not too useful in pvp vs rogue/mages.

This talent is...rubbish, a load of crap...a waste of 4 levels...and should be remove, its like they haven't even thought of anything better to put down. I'll welcome back the extra range anyday...instead of this rubbish.

So yes, it does NOT stack with Hunter's Mark.

But it might be a bit usefull anyway.

You can't put Hunter's Mark on multiple targets.
But you can however, put Hunter's Mark on your target B while target A is affected to your Marked of Death.

Well, keeping this mind and you think it's usefull for yourself, just put 1 point in it.

And use it this way:

Main target: Marked of Death. (since it will be refreshed each time you use Arcane Shot and Chimera Shot, depending on how many points you've put in this spec)
Secondary target: Hunter's Mark.

hunter's mark lasts for 5 minutes...really shouldn't take that long to kill something...so mark of death would only be good for multiple targets because it doesn't cost you gcd and since it claims to be non-dispellable does that mean it can't be dispelled by a rogue's vanish? that would be great for pvp because vanish dispell's hunter's mark. has anyone tested?

I have this talent. But it doesn't seem to be applying. Maybe I am missing the buff/debuff on the mob. Will it apply a hunters mark or just an icon similar to a bleed effect?

Any reason people are being downrated for saying this talent is useless?

Worst case scenario: You forgot to put Hunter's Mark up before a fight, and you think that this talent could be handy in not wasting a GCD. Even then, you would still be better off putting the two talent points into something else, and wasting that GCD.

This talent is rubbish, you simply can not argue otherwise. It puts up a debuff, which may not be up 100% of the time, and only lasts 15 seconds, as opposed to an ability you already have, that is up 100% of the time, and lasts 5 minutes. If you are going to spend talent points on it, it needs to be better than the ability it's replacing.

Since hunters will enter 99% of all fights camouflaged, thus being able to place a real hunters mark essentially for free, this talent is moderately useless.

I genuinly can't see the point of this... It basically applies a version of hunter's mark that has a shorter duration, and doesn't let you see through stealth. The only (negligible) upside is that it's undispellable, and that's... well... near useless.

Pros:

If you are lazy to press 1 key before you start attacking a new target, then this talent is great for you.
Cannot be dispelled.
No need to recast Hunter's Mark during long battles (bosses) or when your mark gets dispelled.

Cons:

A talent that does something I can already do.
Less range. You can cast Hunter's Mark on your target before even getting in attack range, so you could easily mark them before entering combat.
Lasts less than Hunter's Mark. Hunter's Mark lasts longer.
Doesn't grant sight of the target. Hunter's Mark grants sight of the target (minimap too). Lets you see through stealth.
If you think you could make use of that second you spend casting Hunter's Mark to start dealing more damage, then why not get a better talent with an effect that lets me compensate that damage, a talent that lets you do something you can't do.

Just my 2 cents.

this talent may work in pvp, when you don't have time to put a mark on the target.
you have 8% chance use "kill command" with no cost, if you have the "resistance is futile" talent

I like this talent when fighting rogues because it's imperative to get a bleed on them asap. Having to apply Hunter's Mark takes time away from spamming Chimera Shot and Steady Shot on them.

Marked for Death (MfD): Allows your CS and AS to automatically apply a Hunter’s Mark (HM) equivalent effect on the target. The MfD has the same AP benefits as HM and can be applied to multiple targets. The benefit of this talent is that you do not have to spend a GCD to mark a target with HM when you change targets in combat. It removes the decision on how long the target is going to live to know whether it is worth casting HM. Previously, we either used a GCD to apply HM or went without the additional and significant AP benefits of HM. With MfD, the decision is removed, and we get the DPS benefit of HM while spending the GCD to take high damage attacks. The reason that this talent is listed as optional is because it only provides a benefit on fights where you switch targets or where it lasts over 5 mins. On single target fights of less than 5 mins in duration, the talent is useless since you would apply HM before combat. However, on non-single target fights, which most trash fights and plenty of boss fights are, or on fights lasting more than 5-mins that would require a HM refresh, this talent has DPS benefits for you and other hunters in the raid on your target.

This talent is going away and becoming a Major Glyph that will cause Arcane Shot, Explosive Shot, Chimera Shot and Kill Command to automatically place Hunter's Mark on the target. There are no drawbacks on the Hunter's Mark applied this method.
