Realisticly it's 3 points, and currently nightfall has no CD, mine often refreshes it'self, which is iritateing but anyway

As a very pvp orientated affliction lock, i can tell you right now that 20% spell haste is an amazing buff, because often in pvp ( AV is a biggy when it comes to this) you want as many dots, on as many people as posible, often i'm mashing my buttons because i have too many targets and too long a GCD :P

put it this way ( for all those non warlocks) if the GcD was 1.0 seconds instead of 1.5 my warlock would do 1/3 more damage in AV lol, that's' 33.33% because i am almost always sitting on that cliff dotting your brains out, and then UAing your healer.. MUHAHAHA
Just to give you an idea of how strong spell haste is for us dot crazy bastards

Hopefully somebody can answer this for me, judging by the wording on the tooltip "spell casting speed" am I right in assuming this wont affect GCD like spell haste does?

With anyluck it will, but if anyone could clarify that for me that would be great.

This talent will be reworked. Someone proved that 1/3 is actually enough, and 2/3 and 3/3 wasteful.

The 1st point in this talent does not only trigger the proc, it also yields the same benefits as 2/3 and 3/3: 12 seconds of 20% faster casting every 30 seconds.

So if you are smart, you spend only one point in Eradication! The chance is then 4% and not 10%, but as you already have a 30 second cooldown once triggered, the average damage gain is hardly much worse than with 3/3 with all dots up and running. (Someone in the Beta Forum did the math on it)

Death's Embrace is clearly better: Below 35% of the target's life all your Shadow spells do 12% more damage - dots & shadowbolts.

If you have to save points for other talents, Eradication does nicely with 1/3 only.
But this is most likely to change before release.

Does this actually increase spell haste (thereby decreasing global cooldowns and DOT durations), or does it just decrease casting time?

For PvP the 3/3 for this talent is highly recomented. It doent matter if at 3000000 seconds the benefit would be only +4% With 3/3 the talent will proc earlier and you need it for GCD's UA Fear etc at the beggining of a battle.

Heavy DR on this, I wouldn't recommend more than one point for PVE. But for PVP, having all three allows for some imbalanced Fear casts.

I don't get it. Even though each point gives less of a benefit than the previous one, isn't 20% uptime still better than 11% uptime? (for pve)

If you were to have Corruption up at all times, it would tick every 3 seconds. With this talent being on a 30 second cooldown, that means that Corruption would tick 10 times in the 30 second cooldown. With a 10% chance with 3 talent points in this talent, that would mean 100% chance to proc every 30 seconds theoretically, 70% chance at 2 pts, or 40% chance at 1 point. So really the only thing to look at for how it scales is the 4, 7, or 10% chance. First point gives 4, second and third give only 3.

It was nerfed... Instead of:
proc 4/7/10
casting speed 20/20/20
duration 12/12/12

It is:
proc 6/6/6
casting speed 6/12/20
duration 10/10/10

40% less chance of proc
about 17% less duration

lol... As soon as I maxed the talent... I didn't even get to test out the 10% proc rate :(

so with a 20% haste increase, when it procs, and 2 seconds off the cast time of soulfire from the Destro talent Bane, how fast would a soulfire cast would you think? pretty fast?

i think its be pretty good for a PvP situation where you could do that.

soulfire everyone in sight, if the speed is cut dramatically, you could perhaps have a soulfire gatling gun?

With this talent, the more haste you have, the more haste you get!

To see the haste effect on your DoT's (your current Corruption etc) you have to cast the spell again. But don't be so hastey!* The buff lasts 10 seconds so chances are good you'll need to re-cast corruption again before those 10 seconds are up, so gaining just a few extra Corruption ticks won't be worth the extra GCD, just refresh your Corruption as normal and it'll most likely be within the buffs duration.

*Pun unintended, really, i mean it. Okay fine i intended it.
