It's excellent for levelling, as you'll have far less downtime. Load up on +attack power gear and let rip.

Hint: Frostwolf necklace and cloak are very easy to get, and give a nice AP bonus. Of course, if you get your hands on Black Grasp of the Destroyer, you can very likely have far far better...

Agree, the proc is about 40 % I believe on a succesful melee attack.

I've tested this and with good AP (let's say about 1k) + duelwield u'll be getting mana like crazy.

I've got around 1.5k-2k mana from this and it's very usefull and I think it stacks aswell with the +10% ap bonus when u crit.

Yep, that's why 90% of the shamans will be going dual wield today (in Europe). I think I'll go that way too when I have to start levelling again.

True, every shaman wants to try the wicked dual-wield, but the resto talents aren't even bad.

Just need to get my hands on better weapons, as a shaman class leader I can decide how many and which shamans in our guild can go dual-wield :)

After using this both on in the PTR and now in Live, I must say I am deeply impressed. I use a Dagger in my off hand while using a Slower Weapon in the main hand and I must say I can easily keep up the Mana with the off hand and the DPS with the Main hand. This is probably the best thing we have recieved as an Enhancment Shaman, and too get it with Duel Wielding too is just insane.

Totally worth the 41 points. Works well on longer boss fights to get some mana back. The proc rate seems to be pretty high and procing the 10% ap buff makes it even better

I agree this talent is definatly worth getting. What I do when I'm low on mana is through down a Strength of Earth totem, Mana Spring totem, Water Shield, and then I'll toss up Shamanistic Rage. As an Orc I will also use my racial skill Blood Fury. The mana regen you will get from this will regenerate your entire mana pool. (easily)
Also, according to Mootow (above) the proc from Unleashed Rage also stacks the AP that this talent goes off of.
I do have a question, does the AP bonus from the windfury proc aid in this?
If so, then be sure to have windfury on both of your weapons.

From my experience the answer is yes, but I'm not sure. Can anyone confirm?

blizzard was werry cind to us when they granted us this, but they designe it wrong, its unfaur that its a set chanse to regen a % of your AP, it should be like: all you crittical strikes will grant you mana equal to 11/13% of your attac power. that would give the well geared shaman a bigger advantage than the porly geared, and if anny shaman is as good as another, then wats the point?

I've been wondering lately, but does Shamanistic Rage have an increased chance to proc on 2h weapons? I'm a bigger fan of 2h weapons (Especially one just over 3 seconds, as it works great with Windfury proccing (Can manage to keep that 20% chance true)).

Generally, if something isn't a PPM, it says its chance to proc (Like Windfury which says 20% chance). However, a PPM will say "each hit has a chance" or, in this case "gives your successful melee attacks a chance".

Can anyone confirm this for me?

very good for grinding i've seen and when your in a tight spot and you lose mana, you can use this to get enough to heal up or something. or just increase your DPS in groups. not so good for PVP though...

Does "any melee attack" include windfury procs? It gives me enough mana by far so I'm not too worried one way or the other, just curious if it does. It would be pretty easy to see if you got multiple procs off of one actual swing.

I have had this proc in the main and off hand simultaneously. It's my experience that the mana regeneration is much slower using a two hander. It may indeed be a PPM, but I get much more mana back when I dual wield. I've nearly filled my whole bar with this active while dual wielding, but the best I've gotten with a two-hander is around 1/3 or so. Of course, your results may vary!

with the lack of CC, this talent is the worst thing for shamans players' mind:
1) You activate it
2) you cry for joy
3) The priest you're fighting dispell it
4) you cry for despair.

In the latest PTR build for 2.4, Shamanistic Rage is no longer considered a spell and thus, no longer dispellable.

Latest PTR 2.4 version lowers duration from 30 to 15 seconds and increases AP-to-mana from 15% to 30%. Still undispellable.

I think that it is buff. My shammy is orc, when procs my AP-on-hit trink i use AP-on-use trink + Blood Fury + Haste Potion(all of them have 2 min CD as Shamanistic Rage), which duration 15s(expect trink, it has 20s buff). So after 2.4 i got more mana from Shamanistic Rage.

If you have unleashed rage up, and pop trinkets, it will return the most mana cause your AP is the highest with these buffs. The mana return is dependent of what your ap is, not the damage or speed of your weapon. And since it's PPM, doesn't matter what the speeds of your weapons are.

There are rumors that you can cast this while stunned now, can anyone verify this? There is also another crazy rumor that says this also breaks us out of stun.

Not trying to be smart or something, just wondering... Hunter's tranquilizing shot removes one enrage effect. My question would be, does this count as an enrage? I only tend to believe because of its name.

Make sure "Strength of Earth Totem" is down when you pop this when levelling : the boost to your AP really helps.

in patch 3.2 the cooldown will be reduced to 1 minute, but mana gain will be lowered to 15% of ap. This can be a nice buff to enh shaman survivability in PvP, and won't change anything in PvE.

Yes, you are right about pvp. As for pve - I think it will change, cause with about 4K+ ap (raiding gear) you got full mana stack in 4-5 seconds (you really need 1 stormstrike +1 WF proc to get almost 100% mana) and "wasting" about 10 sec (not really wasting, you got all casts for free actually, but no regen). Just imagine situation when you die after using this cast and reincarnate - you got nice chances to not stay oom (potion+ Improved Strormsrike will not let you do this till SR cd).

And dont forget about damage reduction, you got -30% damage for 30 sec every 2 min instead of 15 sec. Healers wont thank you cause its not that much, but you'll save them a bit of mana.

I mean, there's nothing to wrong with it and enhancement shamans (in one blow) get pvp capabilities back!

I would like to note that with the new enhance shammy t10 set bonus (Frost Witch's Chestguard) this is more godly than ever before with a 12% damage increase to ALL damage, Spell, melee, Fishing pole, whatever,

I never see this off cooldown in ICC boss fights, and so I never see a drop in mana and its easier to heal me through AoE's like Festergut, this is by far my favorite self buff in the game

If you're a keyboard basher like me and are constantly looking for ways to reduce the number of keys you have abilities bound to, then you can macro Shamanistic Rage to an ability in your rotation, such as Stormstrike or Lava Lash. This is useful in any situation, but PvP users will probably want to keep the ability isolated for situational damage reduction. Another good reason to macro this is it's one less thing you have to worry about. How many times have you run out of mana and realised you'd forgotten all about Sham. Rage. Take the following macro as an example:

/startattack
/script UIErrorsFrame:Clear()

What castsequence will do is activate the abilities you have listed in sequential order. The 'reset=3' part will reset the order after 3 seconds has lapsed (goes back to Stormstrike in other words) if you don't have any need to use Sham Rage. Otherwise it's just a matter of smashing that keybind hard out.

The /startattack forces your shammy to start melee attacking because Stormstrike doesn't activate auto-attack and the /script part gets rid of those stoopid error msgs that clog up the centre of your screen. All-in-all, a nice easy way to keep your Shamanistic Rage ticking over.

When Shamanistic Rage is activated on Netherwing Ledge, it automatically applies the Dragonmaw Illusion and you appear mounted and can fly around. However when I flew off the ledge and the lllusion was auto-debuffed, I plummeted to my death. Something to think about if you're questing in the area.

Shamanistic Rage will now be less usefull since shamans no longer have mana problems after patch 4.0 and the t10 set bonus will be gone when we upgrade our gear in Cata.
I'd say the only times I'll be using this ability in Cata is after just being resurrected (and having no mana) or when I need the damage reduction.
Still good for PvP, but not too necessary for PvE instances anymore (still worth the 1 talent point methinks).

I'm currently wondering how necessary this talent will end up being for PvE and am torn between this and another point in Improved Fire Nova. From my experience, I would guess that pre-heroics it is not as necessary because it feels hyper-situational, and the ideal situation means that you died. Shamanistic Rage will allow you to immediately set up your dps rotation after being resurrected. As an added bonus, if you play an Orc Shaman then you get to pop Blood Fury (and make the most of it) right after activating Shamanistic Rage! Drop the totems (especially Fire Elemental), release the hounds and Blood Lust! RawararrARarar! This is indeed a good thing and can prevent you from being kicked from an instance for not knowing a boss fight but in general as dps you should not be dying.

The bottom line is that it only costs 1 talent point and 2 points in Improved Fire Nova is probably just overkill since it doesn't take priority over your other abilities in the rotation. So far, an 8 sec CD seems to fit just right, but I'm greedy and would like to think that the extra damage from another point in IFN will make a noticeable impact on dps numbers in raids. I don't have the data on hand but will experiment with it.

Shamanistic Rage is still very much required for Enhance Shamans in Cataclysm. We really don't have mana issues any more, but in times where healers have to conserve their mana, they're gonna love you for not having to heal you as much.
Use Shamanistic Rage whenever you know you're about to take a huge amount of damage. This is often easily predictable:

Magmaw: Lots of raid-wide damage throughout the fight. Use it as often as possible.
Omnotron Defense System: Both of Magmatron's abilites.
Maloriak: Scorching Blast (red vial) and during the final phase.
Atramedes: Modulation. This is a bit hard to time.
Chimaeron: Feud.
Nefarian: Crackle.

Conclave: During Nezir's ultimate.
Al'Akir: Constantly throughout phase 2. Use it immediately when the phase starts, that way you should be able to use it at least twice during this phase.

Halfus: Before Furious Roar.
Valiona & Theralion: Blackout.
Council: Ignacious' Aegis of Flame, Aerion's Lightning Rod and Phase 3.
Cho'gall: Phase 2.

I personally love this move i duel wield blue axes and when i use this i get about 300 mana every other hit. That give me a use for healing and lets me never have to stop farming. This seems like it is worth the point if u pve alot

This ability is worth it because, after dropping STR totem--popping your AP trinkets--Orcish Blood Fury--etc, you get 50-75% of your mana back off a mob. Just drop STR totem, pop trinkets/racials, and WF the crap out of a mob or two. Usually lasts two. Best in dungeons.

I hate how the last two talents of the enhancement tree greatly favor dual wielders because of the higher chance to proc. Unleashed rage is only useful in bigger groups and if you have a high crit chance, and Shamanistic Rage is pretty useless for someone wielding a big 2H. But hey, not getting these leaves me enough points to get healing focus.

Ok, this comment is just in case you got really bored with everything above and just want to now if this skill worth your 1 freaking talent point or not.. so if you are one of them, please read this:

this talent skill the last skill in the Enhancement talent tree for a freaking damn good reason, so try to figure that out instead of flaming and babbling all this page.

What other posts think:

This talent brings back a hardly-noticable amount of mana, if it was even noticeable in the first place.. right? Beeeeeep~, you're wrong.. You see, the talent gives 15% of your AP back to your MP, so the stronger you hit, the better the skill.. and by the time you have 2k AP or so, every proccing swing will give you 300 mana back... Amazing, I call it.

This talent would be alot better if it was garanteed on every hit, BEEEEEP~! That would have made this skill over-powered, thus removed or nerfed on coming patches. Thank God it wasn't garanteed...

This talent skill doesn't worth your 41st point in Enhancement tree, EXCUSE ME? As I said, it's there for a reason. As we thought about earlier, 2k AP will give you 300mana back with each proccing swing, let's say you are dualwield, that means over 20 swings in those 30sec, let's just say 8 procced... 8x300 = 2400! I have a lvl70 mage, but I'm making an enhancement shaman and reached lvl50 so far.. And I can tell you, you would kill to get a skill that can give you a minimum of 2400mana points back every 2min!

Oh yea, didn't anyone notice the small cooldown? You'll be spamming this every 2min, I'm doing that and I hardly run out of mana! I just wish mages had something like that which has low cooldown, it would be deadly...

Well then, there you have it... so take it or leave it.

This spell is uslfull in PvE
WHY you ask: When fighting Long raid bosses as enhancement you would run out of mana eventually so this is a great spell beacause you wont be able to get any mana back during the whole fight excluding pots and shadow priests. And the cooldown isnt so bad either.
This spell is horrible for Pvp
reason: most 1v1 battles wont even last 30 sec and ive gotten better procs from this spell when fighting regular mobs. I have no specific reason but i think it was due to the mass kiting, the stun locks, dispelling, or movement especailly from casters. also this 41 point talent prevents you from getting one of the best enhancement shaman pvp spec 0/40/21( nature swiftness for the extra instant burst damage or heal).

2.3 patches are gonna be AWESOME for enhance shamans, especially in arena,
pretty much it"ll give us:
1. 30% less dmg for 30 secs
2. our spell dmg is increased by 30% of ur Ap
3. Free shocks with less mana after every crit
4. Two handers w/out talent points, aint much but still good=D
