It might not win you a pvp match but with improved life tap(assuming you're not a sacrifice/destro build) it wields about half the shadowbolt in mana making you less reliant on heals thus helping the raid in general...

Enough drifting.Yes it's a lovely armor.100 spell damage is enough to make you use it.

Warlocks using this at endgame pve might get as much as 400-450 spell power from this one spell. the 30% spirit to spell damage i believe might be nerfed or they will be way ahead of mages in terms of spell damage.

HWAT THE F*CK? seriously! 2% of maximum health, equaling, i would guess 340 HP/5 when I suppose they reach around 17k hp with S6 stuff, and 30% of spirit into spell damage? In a BUFF, mages had to pay 5 talents for that.

Don't you think it's kinda stupid to give warlocks bonus from spirit? I mean, spirit as a stat is completely useless for warlocks, because we never needed nor will ever need MP5, thanks to our wonderful lifetap. Basically this is just a bonus that'll come from a stat we usually ignore completely. It's like giving warriors bonus AP scaling with their intellect, there's just no point in it.

What i think is that this spell should increase your spelldamage based on either intellect or stamina (preferably stamina) but with a lower percentage to balance things out.

It seems that blizzard is hell bent on taking our advantage as a stamina based caster away from us with both their expansions, seeing how the gear in TBC gave insane stamina to everyone and the warlock gear in WotLK seems to have to make room for spirit. Again, there's no point in trying to make spirit more important to warlocks, and again it's just like trying to make intellect important for warriors.

Yeah thats what I thought. Just because blizz put a conversion of spirit to spellpower does not mean we need spirit. Its just to make use of the +spirit that most gears give us.

Before this buff, many ppl were QQing how lame it was that almost every piece of armour gives spirit when we dont need them. Now, they still QQ even though now we actually get benefit from those "useless" spirit.

By the way, the change from regen while casting to HP/5 was a nerf. As everyone has pointed out, in WotLK a lot of our gear will contain spirit on it. But now Fel Armor can no longer leverage that spirit to regen some mana and instead we get this stupid 2% HP regen which just causes us to Life Tap more.

It seems like some people haven't figured out that Life Tapping reduces your dps. This is yet another nerf to locks.

At first I was skeptical about the changes to Fel Armor but after using it since patch day, I love the new changes.

Especially being a demonology lock, you can buff this baby up extremely high, giving you 130 spell power straight off the bat, as well as 39% of your spirit which should be pretty high, roughly around 180 (Where mine is) netting an extra 70ish spell power.

And let's not forget the 2 to 3% of your maximum life regend every 5 seconds, which combined with sacrificing your voidwalker can give you quiet a lot of health back.

I think that blizzard really had a thought out for the spirit gears out in WotlK, were as they in general have higher spellpower then good old crit + hit gears, as ive notice this far into WotlK.

In general the old school crit and hit gears will be most prefeered for destruction. When the higher end spelldmg gears with usually spirit is a mean for affliction to scale better then it did in BC.

Thats at least my thought, thou affliction also gets some smal nice benefits from having spellcrit now.

Along with the massive amounts of spirit on caster wotlk gear and such, it really seems like they want us to have great mp/5 and never go oom. >.> (aka avoid lifetaping)

One problem with that idea: Warlocks don't have a single Talent that directly gives them mp/5. It's all either improving Life Tap or giving them another way to trade one thing for mana.

Interesting effect with the fel armor heal atm. I took some fall
damage while mounted and the fel armor heal went off and
proc'd my lightweave embroidery(https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=55642).
This occurred while spec'd 3/3 into demonic aegis. This leads
me to believe that the heal from this effect is considered a spell
cast but needs further testing.

The heal from this spell will generate some very light amount of threat, which can for example make you pick up aggro from a mob which was previously attacking your pet, if your pet has not yet generated any threat on it.

For 50 tics to equal up to 100% would be: 50(5) = 250.

250 seconds is 4 minutes and 10 seconds.

i think this was ment to be used when ur in a group where you dont need much armor cuz thers a tank to take all the damage and when you solo you should use demon armor cuz of the bonus armor for survivability

Finally they removed the spirit from it, since it's no longer usefull in cata. Our gear will no longer have spirit.

4% hp every 5 seconds seems WAAY overpowered to me both pvp and pve wise

pvp: lets say your a dest lock in 20 or so seconds you could of unleashed upon your enemy doing alot of damage and healing all in one given and extra 16% health by the combo of fel armor

pve: oom? life tap away, your fel armor will give you spell power to be wasting mana and will provide the health to back you up for exchanging

Going to be redesigned in 4.0.6 by ~~increasing max mana by 10%~~ causing the warlock to be healed for 3% of any single-target spell damage dealt.. Interesting changes. Its not going to have a duration anymore either. Glad the max mana idea got scrapped, that seems more like a healer passive talent.

Fel Armor has recently changed in the 4.0.6 patch notes. Instead of a 10% mana increase the new Fel Armor goes by:

Fel Armor has been redesigned. It now surrounds the caster with fel energy, increasing spell power and causing the warlock to be healed for 3% of any single-target spell damage he or she deals.

For clarification, this is a slight nerf for PvE and a heavy nerf for PvP as it relies on your damage done.

Here is an example:

The Warlock has 115k health.

Original: Restores 2% health per 5 seconds...

(0.02*115000) = 2300 Health per 5 seconds.

New: Restores 3% health of spell-damage dealt...

If the warlock pulls 15k DPS then - ((0.03*15000)*5) = 2250 Health per 5 seconds (or 450 health per second)

oh my god its terrible for PVP now, at least compared to what it used to be, were, even if you were stunned or just running away you would keep regenerating health, same goes for dailies and stuff. now even if your doing your best at DPS'ing you still wont heal as much

Gotta be bugged. I used my whole mana pool on One target and the ONLY healing I got was Soul Leech and Fel Armor procced a +1 once in that entire rotation. And i fail because i was hitting a 1HP dummy. Im not gunna delete post for the sake of rubbing my face in my shame.

They could reduce the amount of healing (per 5 sec), because with the Cataclysm, maybe it's too much healing with 117k health (that i have), but not complete remove this! Warlocks need it!

How can i use Life Tap? Mages need mana, Warlocks need health, so how can i use Fel Amor, now? Especially for pvp. I don't think Demon Armor is a good idea...

AoE damage and pet damage isn't included in the damage that creates healing. Assuming your pet is 35% of your DPS, when you pull 15k DPS, instead of 450 HP/s, you actually get 292.5 HP/s.

Raid buffed, I have 139k HP currently, so here's the calculation for Fel Armor pre-nerf:

Untalented: 556 HP/s
Talented: 1112 HP/s

Now, in order to reach that figure with the current Fel Armor, assuming 35% of DPS comes from the pet (note that I'm rounding, and the result for talented is the same):

556 * 33.333 / 0.65 = 28,512 + (28,512 * 0.35) = 28,512 + 9,979 = 38,491

So, I would need approximately 28,500 single-target damage (before pet damage), which dictates that my total damage should be around 38,500; assuming I didn't use any AoE's. That is nigh impossible, save gimmick fights.

TL;DR: We got a sizable nerf, but because the mechanics are confusing, it's hard to say anything other than "I die a lot faster."

Fel Armor is worded to increase Spell Power, but only increases your Spell Damage. When you cast it, you will notice in your Character panel that Spell Power separates into Spell Damage and Spell Healing, and you will have 637 (or the amount provided by Fel Armor at lower levels) more Spell Damage than Healing.

I can't wait for this spell. I'm a Destruction Lock thru and thru, and this will help me deal plenty more dmg. And I use the Demon Armor all the time, just in case I start taking dmg. I like getting hit cuz I get to use my BackLash ability. When you have a 25% chance to reduce the cast time of your Shadow Bolt or Incinerate spell by 100% when you get hit, you start looking for a fight ;)

Affects all healing including bandages. Warlocks most of us never used Demon Armor much, but now, make sure you press the button for Fel Armor every 30 minutes..

In brief tests, a druid buddy cast a standard heal on me, for 2400. Then I cast this, and the same spell was 3600! Both were non-crits.

Biggest problem is that the 200 armor you lose from Demon Armor actually seems to have helped...and thats not much of an issue with +120 armor enchant on your cloak...

Whether use fel armor or not mostly depends on your build and the situation you are facing. For an aff or des lock who tanks sometimes he may want the demon armor rather than this; but to a demon lock this is just a no-brainer -- when your felguard tanks 99 times out of 100 there's nothing to hit on you so what's the reason for that extra 800 armor? Every lock with a felguard out should always use fel armor instead of a demon one. If you use drain life quite often always put your fel armor on coz' it affects both the amount healed and the damage dealt.

Just curious, what do people think about this spell vs. Demon Armor for leveling in Outland? I'm leaning towards this, but at the same time the armor, health regen and shadow resist from Demon Armor are nice. In particular, Demon Armor pretty much doubles my current armor (I'm level 62), which I think adds about a 10% damage reduction. What do people think?

FYI, I would definitely go with Fel Armor when running instances.

so yea people keep talking about the armor and yea losing demon armor would take me down from 18.7%dmg reduction to about 11.9% dmg reduction or somthing of that sort. But when i was affiction (and im thinking about switching back later) I was a tank agroing around 3-4 guys at a time with my imp in passive just there to give me fire shield blood pact health and most of all to use dark pact upon because he has the highest mana regen of the demons.

Anyway i would be taking lots of hits constantly but shrug them off because i was running the whole time and because i had siphon life on all of them and would occationally spam drain life.

If i get rid of demon armor and its armor bonus i would be takeing more dmg from lots of guys at once. But fel armor seems to be made for the affliction lock who has the most healing spells and usage ...well just 2... so i would get more for that by 20% on each guy but each guy would swing a bit harder.

and in this case i say to you - Which is better?

alchemists are in luck too. Try having the alchemist's stone trinket on that increases effects of healing and mana potions by 40% with this and see effects combine with this spell when u use a potion

i would go with the fel armor for instances, because the extra armor from demon armor is useless because u will have a tank. The shadow resist is useless because u have a handy spell called "Shadow Ward". Soloing, i would take demon armor. It allows me to have health regen, armor if my pet loses aggro. And shadow resist just in case. In pvp, i would go with the fel armor for the extra damage and healing.

locks rocks, no doubt..this armor is really good 4 dest locks, which need +spell dmg, and we got soul leech, so it gives hp back, really nice indeed...

but all the types of locks need it as well, its just an owesome armor..i mean, who need that extra 660 armor? the health regen and the shadow resist is nice, but useless in high lvls compares 2 +100 spelldmg and +20% health generated..

You forget that both of these spells are instant cast with just a neglectful piece of mana required. You can just cast the other if somethings pounding on you instead of having to rely on one or the other. blizzard made these instant cast for a reason

Just think..

Fel Armor with full points in Demonic Aegis, imp. Drain Life with a fully dotted enemy and Curse of Shadows on them... that'll equate to a lot a dmg but even more healing in the same token.. just be careful of Fel Hunters and Mages for counterspelling effects.

I think affiction locks gain a huge benefit from this spell. The dots would hurt big time, all-the-while you can play with confidence

It's a situation spell, yes, but how many locks or mages like to use their mana to swap armor spells in the middle of combat anyways? I could understand doing that in PvE but PvP, it's a kill or be killed deal reardless. This with imp Heathstone would save your ass at least once before you either kill them or die with them low on HP or dead after your dots ^.^

1. Any heroic boss will kill u in one hit regardless of how much armor u are able to add as a cloth wearier.

2. If you are a warlock, u shouldnt be taking that much damage.

3. Use your pet to hold aggro, and use dots and shadow bolt which will now be stronger due to fel armor.

4. If your are not convinced, read steps 1-3 again.

5. Have fun.

Once you get this spell you will never need to put demon armor on again. This spell rocks. More spell damage and you recive more healing. The extra armor on the demon armor isnt worth !@#$. Warlocks dont need much armor at all.

I see all your points by saying the armor helps when drain tanking cos u take less damage ... but you get healed for more with fel armor ...
eg . +armor = hit by 200, heal for 200
+healing/spelldmg = hit for 300, heal for 300

the armor increase means dmg taken is increased by say 5-10% ish, hp gained with fel armor = 20% extra PLUS the spell dmg increase ... no brainer for drain tanking surely.

(i know the maths sucks, cba doing precise calcs)

I'd say Fel Armor's better to use when you KNOW you're not gonna be getting hit (i.e.-Having your Felguard tank)... Demon Armor's better for when you ARE going to get smacked (i.e.-Using a Succubus). Hope it helps :P

imo, Fel Armor is ALWAYS the better choice when in battle.

Even if you were tanking; the enemy whacks 500 every 2 seconds. With Demon, he wacked 450 instead every 2 seconds, so you're taking 225 damage per second instead of 250 without the armor bonus. with Fel, you're 100 health-per-second drain life ticks are actually coming in at least 120 per second, so over 5 seconds you'll intake 600 (when if w/out the buff you'd get back 500); and demon armor, over 5 seconds 1175 instead of 1250 with the armor bonus; all in all, in 5 seconds with Demon Armor you saved 75 health and in 5 seconds with Fel Armor you got back an extra 100 health.

+spelldamage from fel is also going to make it a lot more powerful. Fel wins.
