This Curse is great but it gets even better if you use Amplify Curse with it, which increases the curse's effect by 10%.

I play a lock for my main. I personally love CoE. I use it for pvp and pve. Raiding is important so i have to choose a spec that fits me with both. I personally suggest to anyone who is not sure if this is good to at least give it a try. In pve, its awesome for soloing as well as grouping.
If you use CoE on a target, especially one that is slow to begin with, and use some tactics like Dot up after CoE, Fear, Shadowbolt so forth, it works wonders. Pvp as said by others is great for this. CoE a big ravid warrior running at you and boom easy target.
All i can say is give it a try if you want. It can be very handy and save ur life at times. Those extra seconds it takes the target to run can be extra seconds your dots are ticking away doing damage or extra seconds for you to cast a shadowbolt (or whatever you prefer)

Yes it can be casts on multiple targets. This spell ok,but a little underpowered. Rogues can just CLoS every single min then just cirpple you(which is 3x better),druids and mages have more ways than just removing the curse,warriors can intercept me then just hamstring which is 3x better than your non-amped curse.Even if you amp its only 50% and rogues/warriors is 70%.So its like what the hell???,whats the point! It should be 50% normal,80% amped.Atleast to match mages slow(50% everything).Also rogues blow every single cooldown in arena then target the two choices,warlocks or healer.Most of the time its the warlock.

Back to 30yd, and with nerf to down-ranking/loss of cheap CoR, I agree -
Make it a regular spell now. Or give us back a real cheap PvE snare.

LOL nevermind, with this ones cost set as a % too, its the same cost...
Still, it should be a baseline spell IMO, great for PvP, has some kite ability PvE.

Mana management is certainly going to be more interesting in WotLK...

Ive tried this spell and its pretty useless. I only pve so the uses for this spell is very limited. For non affliction warlocks, they would prefer the extra damage of CoA. For affliction warlocks (depending on spec) CoEl provides far more benefit, buffing the damage of ALL your other dots.

CoEx just has too limited uses in pve to even bother speccing for it. For every use, that CoEx can fulfil, another curse can do so much better. Most mobs that are 'slowable' are also fearable. The times when you really want to kite a mob is just too rare to spend that valuable talent point into something your almost never going to use.

On the other hand, if your into pvp, this talent would be great.

Buffed to 50% as of 4.0.1, Affliction warlocks now have a decent slow.

Edit: As of 5.4 it is back to 30% but with a glyph you can increase it to 70%, so if you really need a slow grab the glyph.

For one, why are you trying to claim that Demonology/Destruction Warlocks have better crowd control than Affliction when the spell you're attributing to them - Fear - is itself an Affliction spell?

Second, and the biggest one, you're trying compare CC spells and slowing spells based solely on the movement speed reduction they deliver. Not only are there the issues that baller mentioned, the cooldowns, the cast times, the inability to hit more than one target at a time with them, there's also the fact that most CCs break the second someone so much as breathes on them wrong.

Having someone attacking right up in your face is what Death Coil is for. This is meant to give you a chance to kill off or otherwise cripple opponents before they get that far.

The curse by itself saved my skin in plenty of situations, both in pvp and pve.

When it is improved it is a very good spell for kiting.

i hear people complementing this spell, but it seems useless. -10% speed? yea, maybe if we were a close up class and needed to run up to them fast, but no if they are right next to us and try to run, while we can still get them for up to about 30 yards. well i do demonology anyway, and think this is useless.

In pvp it can be godly against a rogue or a warrior with amplify curse and it upgraded can reduce their speed to 50%

this skill is amazing, i stoped using CoA and started using this and CoT. with amplify curse and imp. CoX this can act as an imp wing clip and hamstring. with this on the warrior, rogue ext.. you can just run around and spam DOT's and maybe a nightfall or 2

If you read spell carefully it says reduces to 90% of normal speed. Speed increasing spells will have no effect over it, so its a very good spell to slow people down, low mana too.

half of the comments posted here are utter bullcrap. this spell can rock when used properly.

a) very low mana cost (%8 of base = lol)
b) no cooldown
c) NO DIMINISHING RETURNS! you can cast it as many times as you like. unlike for example frostshock, the slowing effect of which diminishes with each cast, and then is resisted altogether

a proper SM/ruin build will have 3 points in the improved talent resulting in %25 speed reduction. IMO that can allow some seriously good kiting esp. in group PvP.

You can always try a "death coil" https://www.wowhead.com/cata/sp=6789. Then a fear right after that. Then just pop DOTs on your target and watch them die. ( i recommend a macro for that combo since death coil is insta cast )

Thanks to all that explained the slowed to 90% so they move at 90% not 10%. I think the explanation can be somewhat confusing since people dont really read into it. At any rate you really do need the improved spell and then you can appreciate how awesome it is.

CoX, is Curse of Exhaustion(sp?). DC is Death Coil. Basically Fear them away slowly. Use normal fear if you have health, if you need life Death Coil them then follow with a normal fear to send them farther.

No reason not to get this now that the full 30% is available with one talent point. Dot something up, throw Curse of Exhaustion on it, run away and wait for it to die, then Dark Pact back to full mana off your Imp. Repeat. FOREVER.

This talent works well in wsg to slow flag runner, and in general pvp to slow an attacker to help you get away, or to slow a victim to keep them from getting away

This spell is a waste of talent points. Only useful in 1v1 pvp. Even then, it requires 6 talent points and a timer to make it viable. I'd much prefer to put those 6 points into something more universally useful.

If you're casting this in battlegrounds, you're not doing dmg (which is what warlocks ought to be doing). No sense in using it in instances once you hit 60 either.

It's only 1 talent point (assuming you already have amplify curse). I can see some uses for this.... And I don't really like some other talents in the corruption build.
