How effective is this talent for level 70's in the new patch coming out soon?
"Reduces the pushback suffered from damaging attacks while casting any Shaman healing spell by 70%."
This just seems like a waste when I could use the points for more +spell crit. I'd love some feedback. Thanx :)

With the changes to spell pushback in 3.0 these talent seems essentially useless, in PVE anyway.
Testing this out on the PTR I found myself facing as much pushback as I had on Live with this talent.
70% can add up to alot in 2.4 but with only to instances of pushback per cast the 70% avoidance can easily be made up for on key fights by things like ES+Conc aura.

This is excellent in PvP and in certain PvE scenarios where there is a constant AoE dmg. Otherwise this skill is not that great.

Just for clarification, this affects pushback only. It does not include interruption or silencing mechanics, though some players attempt to lump interruption with being the same as pushback.

Pushback is the delay of your spell from finishing it's cast time. The spell eventually finishes its cast, but at a duration longer than the stated cast time on the tooltip.

Interruption is the prevention of a spell finishing it's cast. The spell is completely stopped, and interruption effects usually include a brief period of time when that particular spell school is locked from casting for X seconds. Interruption requires a player to be casting a spell to gain this effect.

Silence not only prevents a spell from finishing it's cast, but also prohibits any spell from being cast during the duration of the silence effect. Silence does not require a player to be casting to gain this effect.

Examples:
Interruption - Earth shock, pummel, kick, counterspell (untalented), mind freeze, and even Thunderstorm are forms of acceptable interruption spells.

Silence - Silence, spell lock, improved counterspell, and strangulate are acceptable forms of silencing effects.

All other damage will deal pushback. Both physical and magic damage.

I don't understand why this is still so far down the resto tree?...

I really think it should switch places with Improved Healing Wave.

How come priests only have two points in their focus healing, ending at 70% while shamans need to put 3 talents points to hit 70%? I'm not complaining over one point, just wondering why that isn't balanced.

Add an Earth Shield and you got a very sexy Resto PvP setup. It won't matter how many times they hit you (and if they're worth their salt in the arena, they *will* hit you) -- you won't lose any casting time throwing off those heals because you have a 100% pushback reduction. Riptide, Lesser Healing Wave, Earthbind, Ghost Wolf, boom. No invaluable casting time lost.

This is PvP only, however. In PvE, your Earth Shield will be on a tank, and there are very few places where a Resto Shammy is being damaged enough that he can't get off a spell. Your talent points are definitely better invested elsewhere.

Posting an update on this, since, due to ICC, I'm rethinking the value of this talent... with my experiences handling Marrowgar, Festergut and the crew, I'm seeing a lot of pushback. I really wish this talent wasn't so bland, but once I spec'd into it, it was actually an increase to my healing due to me absorbing most of the pushback from those damn pulsating AoE effects.

So if you're wondering whether you should take this for raiding, do it. It's definitely helping a lot more than it did when I ran mostly heroics. But if you're handling mostly heroics these days, you can give this up in favor of Elemental Weapons or Enhancing Totems without feeling like you're missing something huge.
