I'd like to point out that today, I was questing with a hunter guildie. I fould that putting blessing of salvation on the hunter and not the pet allowed his pet to tank better while he quested, making things a bit easier for him.

This skill does require a group, so you won't be able to toss it on any hunter you pass by, but I recommend that if you pass a hunter pal, invite him to group and drop this buff on him and might on this pet. Will make things a little easier for the hunter for the next 5 minutes.

"Blessing of Salvation renamed Hand of Salvation, now reduces total threat on the target by 2% per second for 10 seconds while also reducing all damage and healing done by 10%. Only one Hand spell can be on the target per paladin at any one time. Now costs 6% of base mana."

I know I speak for most pallies out there when I say, replacing BoS with HoS was a big mistake for blizzard. When clearing trash we like to go fast, not wait for the tank to build threat, with a 2 minute cooldown this completely kills it. It was so bad in ramparts our tank specced druid couldn't keep aggro over the party, including the healer. I had to pop a Righteous Fury and tank it as ret in order to keep our party from dying. This spell has many uses in PvE but it's just not the same...

I understand that players may only have one Hand on them per Paladin at a time, as stated in the tooltip. However, if multiple Paladins place Hand of Salvation on a single target, will the Hands stack for greater threat reduction?

Can anyone post a macro that would cast this on your current target's target? I know its a rather simple macro but I don't know how to make them and it would be rather useful for this ability.

But as stated already, once aggro has been pulled the damage is mostly already done, although this can help prevent it from getting pulled by the same person again immediately after the taunt wears off (I don't remember name of pally taunt).

One very good use for this spell I can think of is to put it on the top Melee DPSer right before a Blood-specced Death Knight puts Hysteria on them.

As of the 3.1 PTR, it reduces damage by 20%, which is similar to Icebound Fortitude.

I feel that this will be changed before 3.1 goes live because of mass QQ, even tho us ret pallys are taking damage nerfs =/

Regarding glyph-ing this with Glyph of Salvation:

As a main tank, you can pop this at a massive aoe cast or in certain circumstances (like after bladestrom at fist boss in icc) for like 1-3 sec then take it off with a macro, free 20% damage reduction cooldown. If you pop it and you still wanna keep aggro, pop wings, taunt like hell and have rouges and hunters miss-direct and tips and tricks on you

As a offtank at festergut it's ideal, just pop it when your off the boss and nuke like hell (you can pull close to 3.5 - 4 k dps) and you don't have to take off righteous fury and you get 20% less damage at purgeont blight

As a soaking offtank just go crazy with it.

If you're full on expertise (dodge capped i mean) this is a useful alternative to Glyph of Seal of Vengeance, could really make a difference in some fights

Although it is a threat reducing spell, it don't work like Fade or Wind shear, it only remove a relatively small amount of threat and require time to effect.

Fade remove over 90000000 threat from all mob (temporary, almost 100%)
Wind Shear instant remove some threat on TARGET.

HoS's reduction is comparatively slow, however this spell can be casted on other raid member, so all spec of Paladin can use this spell on healer or some overgear DPSer.

The best use of this spell is get a threat meter, where you can see who are going to OT the tank and cast on them.
Although you can precast it before the threat when wrong, this way can sure the greatest effectiveness of the spell (greater current threat=greater threat removed)

For those who REALLY obsessive with Fade can pick up the Major glyph to make HOS do the same thing and still castable on RAID member!
And like Fade it's also temporarily instead of permanent like unglyph version, be careful

Cool down is way too long, and the effectiveness is not nearly enough. The only advantage this spell has is that it can be used on anyone in raid, rather then only being used to reduce self threat like other class abilities.

It should be noted that its dispellable, meaning it can be used to protect other buffs. Sadly, won't work with freedom since its also a hand. But you can protect wings, blessings, etc.

As an ally member, i always have to deal with nub mages who dont let the tank get the aggro before shooting. This helps reduce their threat and keep the mobs on the punching bag instead of on the squishies

Level 50 prot paladin here, I throw salv on everyone except the healer, who gets wisdom. People like to complain and ask for a different buff but unless their DPS is horrid they get salv. I can hold aggro without it alright but with this on everyone I don't have to spend all my mana fighting for aggro and after the initial avenger's shield/judgement of righteousness/consecration/holy shield I can pretty much use judgement and seal of wisdom at my leisure to keep my mana bar up and the consecrations flowing.

agreed. No tank can hold aggro in long fights if the dps'ers are going all out and pure dps specced, even with the tank build up period. Salv or Tranquil Air for all the dpsers (except hunters) if you want your dpsers to do their max damage - especially single target fights like gruul and voidreaver. And how have people forgotten about the biggest aggro class in the game SHADOWPRIESTS.
