These appear during Noblegarden, the ingame holiday which takes place for about 24 hours usually on Easter Sunday.

They are usually scattered around the ground in low level starter zones like Elwynn Forest. They usually contain candy and a few copper coin. Vary rarely the egg might contain a dress that is not BoP and usually fetches a fair price if someone is willing to buy it, due to its rarity.

The candy from the brightly colored eggs (chocolate squares, lollipops, and candy bars) are different from other event foods/candies. Others recover a percentage of health and give buffs such as a percent of your stamina.

In contrast, these candies only recover a flat amount of 61 health over 18 seconds and give a flat buff of 2 stamina/spirit for 15 minutes.

These foods aren't bad for very low level characters, but they're pretty pitiful for high-levels. However they aren't soulbound, so if you decide to start a new character you can send these to them to give a small boost.

For Horde, I second the recommendation of searching for eggs in Mulgore. The landscape is easier to navigate than either Tirisfal Glades or Durotar and the blue eggs found in Mulgore stand out better against the green grass in that zone. You can find a reasonable number of eggs by running around the bases of the various plateaus of Thunder Bluff.

Eggs can't be found using the Dwarven racial Find Treasure.

They also don't have the golden sparkle to them, so they can be quite tricky to spot.

Approx 3 min timer respawn, with usually about 4 possible 'close' spawn locations per egg. Find four reasonably close eggs and you can pretty much continuously harvest them.

Have found spawn distance for one egg to be up to 8 sec epic riding speed away.

I have been looking for eggs in Elwynn. So far I can say that they are found by the trees, not in the open. Dont know for other zones. Keep your eyes open, sometimes the eggs are hidden in the bushes!

So, I did some hardcore egg hunting yesterday. I tried Mulgore, Teldrassil and Elwynn Forest, and I found the best place to look for them by far was in Teldrassil, around Lake Al'Ameth. Run around the lake, and the first time you do this you will find about 6-7 eggs (if no-one else is there). Next rounds will yield about 2-4 eggs, depending on your speed (I did it on a regular lvl 40 mount).
You can take up the Pools of Arlithrien in your round too, there are two eggs respawning there, and a little detour around Ban'ethil Hollow and Ban'ethil Barrow Den is a good idea too (about 5 eggs on that route).

The eggs are quite easy to find, they spawn mostly at the base of trees, and each egg has a few fixed respawn places. After a while you'll know exactly where to look and searching will go faster.

In eight hours of searching I found 222 eggs, containing:

2 x black tuxedo pants
3 x white tuxedo shirt
62 x lollipop
75 x chocolate square
80 x candy bar
(NO dress, aaargh!)

hmmm is the above map bugged? It only shows those in Icecrown, yet WotLK was released just a few months ago and Noblegarden event has not happened with WotLK expansion yet.

Also Icecrown isn't a low level zone either, level 10 would pull aggro from half of the zone (and half of the players of opposing faction on PVP server) plus it's almost impossible to get around Icecrown without flying mount, something that requires minimum of level 77.

Interesting. It would appear that the quest item eggs from Storm Peaks share the Easter Egg item data.

You can tell the difference; look at the loot table. The Storm Peaks ones drop the eagle eggs, probably at 100%. The rest of the loot table is easter eggs.

Noblegarden 2009
You only find these in the starting towns like goldshire. (4 per faction, also the TBC towns)
the quest givers are there and one gives you a basket. offhand item with a use: 60% speed increase.
You can only use this basket in the area where you can find the eggs.
If your are going for the title "The Noble" you are gonna need atleast 130 chocolates from the eggs.
25 eating, + 100 for the follow up eating. 5 for the egg to place in Stormwind.
If you are realy lucky you will have found al the other items needed for a achievement in the eggs.
unless you are like me. 200+ eggs and counting.
havent tried to see if buying the items works to. Anyone?

tryed some things:

- mailing the items to an alt and sending them back doesn't count for the achievement
- auction house doesn't count
- buying from vendor doesn't count
- relogging after buying one doesn't count

=> only method to get the achievements is by really lucking them out of an egg.

Pretty sure they took out the ones in Terokkar, I scoured the whole area surrounding Shattrath and didn't see so much as a little hopping rabbit.

This is not true, the achievement for the 100 eggs counts the 25 eggs eaten for the first achievement. Only 105 eggs are needed to get all the achievements (if you are really lucky with all the other items)

Is also not somewhat true because it requires about 102
100 eggs for eating
1 for stormwind/silvermoon
it only took me 1 for silvermoon

I wouldn't recommend going to Falconwing square for these, although there isn't many people there usually, there's very few eggs compared to the other horde places.

In reply to Manato : I guess it's just personal preference then lol :) I just find at razor hill you can do a kind of 'curcuit' to find eggs, and there's many spawn points where two spawn close together :)

The buff you get from this item called: Noblegarden Bunny (a random buff you can get from looting this egg)
Almost the same type of buff you get from using item on a party member from Blossoming Branch called Rabbit Costume

Below is some info I got for being bored.

Outside of what was said above:
Mage portal / stealth / Shadowmeld / switch specs / Feign Death / Bestial Wrath / Iceblock: Below were my findings:

Making Dancing with flames / Summoning items such as Balebrew Charms (both types/versions), Commander's Badge, Argent War Horn, etc... not sure if there are any that don't work, Setup Romantic Picnic Basket (u cannot sit and get buff), Brewfest Pony Keg, Argent Dawn Banner, All Companions, Archmage Vargot's Staff (using), Fishing, and go into Wintergrasp while in battle and recieve Honorable Kills. Im about to see if i can go into pvp bg with it on and edit my post.

REMOVES:

Falling w/Damage / Shapeshifting / Dancing with flames (actually dancing with it not summoning/making it), Flight Paths Taken, taking dmg in Wintergrasp battle.

For Alliance, as of Easter 2010, Kharanos and Elwynn Forest are the most crowded places. In Kharanos the eggs are widespread and quite easy to spot, so getting them turns in a crazy race where you'll need to have always up the buff provided by the basket; Elwynn Forest has more hidden places, like between bushes on into buckets, so there's chances for not so fast people but with a more catching eye.
Dolanaar is probably the less populated place, but amount and location of the spawn points is just horrible.
Azuremyst though worked really fine for me: not too much concurrence, a wide variety of easy and not-so-easy to spot spawn points which allow a fast gathering of eggs.

I made just a fast check of all those points tryng to gather 25 eggs on each, and ended getting more than 40 in Azuremyst, in less time than the other locations. This is just as it is in my realm, Kor'Gall, assume though can be extrapolable to other realms.

I made this macro for all the noblegarden stuff.
It throws bunny ears on target, opens eggs that you've picked up, uses your basket every time it's up, and shows the number of chocolates you have.

I found that the best place to farm eggs for Horde was in Falconwing Square. make rounds around the outer fences, and close to the buildings. You'll pick up quite a few. Check every bush when circling the fences. As I was farming, people were missing a ton in the bushes, leaving more for me. They re-spawn almost every run, so you can easily farm eggs.

Check under the benches often. Eggs also spawn in the little wagon. In the stand where the weapon vendor is, a few spawn right behind it near the wheel. Another spawns in one of the boxes, and another between boxes.

When I farmed, I always stayed mounted. If you get turn into a rabbit, take the morph off and mount again.

You should be able to farm eggs extremely quickly. You will miss some, and people will beat you to some. But so far it's the best place because you can make an easy circle, and not have to run around.

I'm certain the best places to loot depend on time of day you log on to you particular server.For me the best (HORDE) place has been Brill, followed closely by Razor Hill.

In both I've noticed some sneaky hard to see/reach spawn places, in Brill look on the top of the lamp posts at each end of town. Everybody on my server seemed to not notice these eggs spawning on top.In Razor Hill under the broken down wagon, the one on blocks, near the cook/butcher just to the south of The Inn. The wagon ones are especially hard to see and loot, as they are blocked from view by the wagon wheels. Actually that entire cooks camp area is an eggselent spawning spot for all your egg hunting needs.

Your luck in finding eggs will vary with time, it will be different for each realm but there will be a lag in activity.

I had an alt stand watch to see how many eggs he can get due to how busy the hunt was at the time.

I find that kharanos is the best place to get eggs, at least with dentarg. in elwynn forest you have 50+ people just standing there waiting for eggs to spawn, managed to get 20 in an hour, whereas in kharanos it takes less than an hour to rack up a hundred, once you figure out a good path

I found the best way to spot eggs was by turning all your video settings down to the lowest available, and (optionally) zooming your camera out to max distance. You'll see more eggs (even far off in the distance) and less environmental clutter. Good luck!

I must be really lucky !

Farmed eggs in Bloodhoof Village for like hour and half. Have got like 230 eggs so far.

Had bags almost full of eggs and started to use them and this is what I got from about 30 eggs:

1x Spring Circlet
1x Spring Flowers
1x Spring Rabbits Foot
1x Elegant Dress
AND THE MOUNT ! I was like wtf cause even wowhead doesnt say its able to came from eggs but I still got it :oo
So theres also chance to get mount from eggs :p

Also have got Spring robes and Black Tuxedo Pants before during first 100 eggs

I will never understand Nobelgarden.

The only way to get anything is to gather eggs, which spawn once, are very small, and spawn in small numbers.

When you get a busy server, you have 0.0001% chance of getting one.

Good place to stand is at 47.10 x 47.77 in Falconwing Square.

You are in looting distance of 8 spawn points with little to no movement on 3 more.
Stand at the corner of the wagon wheel for no movement at all on 6 spawns.
Dont forget to look under the wagon.

For those trying to be ~~annoyinggoddamncampers~~ "cute" when spawn camping these things, they cannot be looted while under the effects of Lifegiving Seeds, i.e. Herbouflage'd.

I farmed in Azuremyst Isle, because it's alot of people in Goldshire and it's so annoying. I were standing right next to the Inn at the left side, there were three eggs spawning there, and if I stood next to the egg in the middle, I were capable of looting all three of them without moving at all. There were two eggs spawning between the Inn and another "house" and another one under a thorch.

Haven't tried on the Horde side yet, but for Alliance the best place by far to farm eggs is still Azure Watch. I counted 60 unique spawn points around the town - in bushes, under lamps, logs and the forge table, behind trees, buildings, benches and hippogryph roosts, in and behind boxes and behind rocks, crystals and the edges of the bits surrounding the inn. Therefore, even when busy, there are enough eggs spawning to pick up at least 1 per circuit, usually 5-7, up to about 12 if it's quiet. Using the "Egg Rush" sprint from the basket makes a circuit take a minute or two so you can get all the eggs you need very quickly. Anticlockwise seems a slightly better route as more of the spawn points are visible before you reach them so you can skip past if there's not one at that point.

The eggs have a chance to drop everything - Tuxedo shirt and pants, Spring Robes, Elegant Dress, Spring Flowers, Spring Circlet, Blossoming Branch, Spring Rabbit's Foot (pet) and Swift Springstrider (mount). The mount DOES drop, it dropped for a guildie after 252 eggs (counting only chocolate contents, no robes etc...) and for me on my third character after 438 eggs (the first two characters I ended up buying the mount with chocolate). Have uploaded my Wowhead Client data, so hopefully the page for the contents of the Brightly Colored Egg will update to prove this shortly.

As of 2012 Noblegarden enables players to buy a mount for 500 noblegarden chocolates.
The mount is a gray "plainstrider" model, it can also be lootable from these eggs (if you're lucky).
Another addition to this years even are "Black Rabbit Circlet" and "Pink Rabbit Circlet" Both for 50 noblegarden chocolates.
For alliance people i suggest you hunt these eggs in either dolanaar (Teldrassil) or Azure Watch (Azuremyst Isle).

I've farmed eggs in Kharanos and Azuremyst for a few years now. For those non-campers (/shoo) like myself - you may well be missing a lot of spawns. Each year I see the majority of people making "circuits" to collect eggs - but in many cases, running right past eggs that are slightly obscured by an environmental object such as a box, barrel, fence or foliage.

A couple of quick changes to your in-games graphics settings might help, results may vary depending on your own graphics hardware.

Options > Graphics >
Environmental Detail (Low)
Ground Clutter (Low)

If you then zoom all the way back to maximum distance, as you run... you'll see the egg spawns... before you see whatever's obscuring it.

Personally I point the camera almost directly downward too... run around to the obscured spawns and click the eggs. I can't even see what's obscuring the egg... but the eggs are always clickable. :)

If you open an egg that happens to be sitting next to a PvP NPC (ie, a city guard), you WILL be flagged. I asked Blizzard about it (ticket) and they said it's a bug that will be fixed in time for next Easter :)

It is my experience that eggs often re-spawn quickly near (though sometimes not exactly AT) locations where they were found before; thus, by running madly between several locations in Kharanos, I was able to find a lot. One of these locations, I don't mind telling you, was the corner of the Inn porch; another was behind the iron cooking-pot in the gnome encampment just to the South of there. And then, some eggs just randomly appeared in other places. By watching while I ran, I was able to capture more than a few of these, as well.

I didn't find anything incredibly interesting inside; however, to Dayetriper, who complains of finding "NOTHING but stupid candy," I say: Don't knock the candy: it will restore half of your health, no matter how much you have.

It sucks looking for those eggs. I didn't get anything but candy. I only looked in Elwynn Forest and everytime I found and egg I got the Location coordiante.

We have five separate objects with the same name and I think I know why. If you notice as you are farming these, you will see more than one painting pattern on the eggs. Thus the need for different "objects" in the game. Five in each area? No! In Brill for example I encountered only three and that was after farming almost two hundred. Which egg decoration belongs to which "object"? I have no idea. So I will upload about three photos per object here.

Note also that in Retail the egg pattern has been radically altered. The eggs are no longer gayly painted but now they have pastel tones and of course a higher pixel quality too. We're on a legacy database here, dealing with legacy game assets.

The locations above are very very wrong. This AddOn has almost all of the locations in the Classic zones (Retail too!).

Where to farm? That is the question! Zones are mostly empty on the (Wrath) Classic servers and quite busy at Razor Hill and Goldshire on Retail. Each zone has its advantages and disadvantages for egg farming:

Horde:

Brill: Retail: Great variety of locations, most easy to find. A great place to farm. Wrath: Compact but the shrubbery is very heavily textured, making the eggs rather difficult to see as almost all the eggs are concealed in the bushes.
Razor Hill: Eggs are easy to see but you have a lot of running to do.
Bloodhoof Village: Some very devious / clever hiding of the eggs and a huge area to run around.
Falconwing Square: Compact and although attempts were made to hide the eggs, pnce you get a roll on you will zip through easily. Best for Horde!

Alliance:

Goldshire: Retail: Everyone comes here so respawns happen fast! No optimal route though. Classic: Eggs seem few and far between here.
Kharanos: Easy to see the eggs and your route will be a simple oval. A great location for Alliance, especially Classic!
Dolanaar: Eggs are mostly hidden in dense shrubs and there is a huge running area. Avoid!
Azure Watch: Compact, eggs are well hidden and there is no real optimal route.

Ideally you want a few other players with you as the respawns will come thick and fast and this situation is where Falconwing Square really shines. To see accurate maps (there aren't any here on Wowhead and indeed it is just not possible due to the imprecision of coordinates) I strongly suggest this AddOn by yours truly. It has almost every spawn point in every Classic and Retail zone too! Alliance? Toss-up between Goldshire and Kharanos with Goldshire shading it as its more social/fun.

(The egg counts for the maps above are way off. Wowhead is not designed for recording this kind of data. Additionally don't go to Stormwind etc as per the maps)
