Phase 1:
The boss is going to put up a shield reducing all damage taken by 90%. He wont move and will cast on random targets. Ignore him completely. He will summon Minions of Siamat. They dont have much health and dont do that much damage burn them down. When the adds die they leave behind a green hurricane cloud, don't stand in it. After awhile his shield explodes off him punting everyone around the room several times, do your best to not get knocked off the ledge here. That is the end of phase 1.

Phase 2:
The boss becomes vulnerable, the tank needs to pick him up fast. It is pretty much a tank and spank at this point. Adds still come out but from what I saw they just stand there and cast lightning bolt on people and dont actually move. Siamat will occasionally absorb the adds around him causing lightning aoe damage to hit everyone in the group, just heal through it. This phase is pretty easy and you just burn him down.

In heroic, his adds have about 400k health.
That's the only difference we have seen so far.

On normal difficulty, warlocks can help mitigate damage by casting Curse of Tongues on Siamat during the first phase.

Not certain if the same holds true to heroic mode.

LOTS of AOE nature damage, so resistance can come in handy!

Phase 1 - adds
When the fight starts, Siamat will be nearly immune to damage, and 3 sets of 2 adds will be spawned. The Servant of Siamat needs to be tanked, and the Minion of Siamat just needs to be burned down. The minion casts a chain lightning. For this reason, those that can spread out should be spread out, at least while this add is alive.

Where the adds die, the boss will place either Deflecting Winds or Wailing Winds. Either way, don't stand in those.

Phase 1 heroic - The adds have slightly more health, and theres more damage going out.

Transition -
After the last of the beginning adds die, phase 2 begins with a bouncy transition where the boss will throw all group members around. If you have a way to cast while moving, now is the time to use it.

Phase 2 - boss
Once the beginning sets of adds die, Siamat is the target. The tank needs to be sure to kite him away from any sort of winds on the ground, so that no one has to stand in them. Minions of Siamat will continue to spawn and chain lightning (but stay in place), so 1-2 ranged dps should take those out whenever they show up.

Phase 2 heroic - there is a lot more damage going around. be ready to help the healer out, (at least until everyone has t12 epics on).

Its worth noting that if your healer is being stressed during this encounter, the tank can kite the boss quite well and avoid a large amount of incoming damage. This gives your healer time to make sure the dps stay alive to get the boss burnt down.

I could foresee people running into threat issues with this strategy, but I do not. I have kited the entire phase 2 after spending 5 or so global cooldowns for threat, then strafing (because he will catch up) and making sure to hit him with something when he catches up.

Phase 2 can be extremely hard on healers, especially if their gear level is low.

We actually 2-healed this tonight on heroic with a shadow priest switching over to help out. Got him down pretty easily on the first try using this strat.

Solo healed as a Druid in Heroic.

Brutal is the only word I have. In order to make the P1 -> P2 transition work I had to use ToL and Tranquility *and* get a Heroism in order to keep up. It was still a massive DPS race that we finally won, but everyone was in their "low HP" warning zones.

And the suck factor clawed its way up to 11 when I got 0 drops from the entire instance run. :(

Since this fight is high on nature damage, if you have a hunter in your group asking them to use on this fight might help you if you have weaker heals, and in any case it can't hurt to reduce damage.

I haven't seen anyone say this, and I feel like it needs to be mentioned. The minion and the servant both can be interrupted if they're going to get a cast off before you burn them down. This seemed to help my healer quite a bit, I just downed him for the first time.

The platform you fight this guy on has some really messed up pathing to it, as any Warrior tank attempting to charge in will find out. This can work out to your advantage, though, as it's possible to kite him over certain little ridges that you can walk over but he can't. By rocking back and forth over them you can force him to constantly repath and very rarely get into melee range, reducing the stress healers feel on this battle when he does his Absorb Storms move.

Obviously only to be attempted once you have a decent threat lead!

Edit: As of 4.0.6, his platform's pathing problems have been smoothed out and I was not able to spend 75% of phase two kiting him around invisible walls.

Spell Reflection is immensely helpful for warrior tanks during this fight, as the Thunder Crash spell cast by the servants can be reflected for a good chunk of damage and it makes you immune to the Absorb Storms AoE Siamat uses in the second phase as long as it's active. Also, it'll reflect any Storm Bolts he decides to send your way in both phases.

Hunters and Shamms remember to have resist abilities. Kept failing on Siamat phase 2 till I swapped out healing stream for nature totem.

Since I'm still running into this problem a bit...if you are a tank, once p2 starts and you've picked up Siamat, check your minimap and try to move toward your healer if they've been knocked far away until you recieve a heal to let you know you are in range! We healers want to bask you in healie goodness but do get tossed off the ledge sometimes and we can only run so fast :)

That's really the only issue I've had during this encounter, fairly fun fight.

I don't know if this has been fixed or not but the knockback at the beginning of Phase 2 can throw you off the platform.

If you land on the ground you can take a cyclone back up but if you land in the water you're stuck there with no discernible way out.

Stage One: Winds of the South, Rise!

Siamat begins the encounter flying above his platform, nigh invulnerable to any damage taken.

Storm Bolt – Siamat throws a charged missile at a random enemy player, inflicting 7068 to 7931 Nature damage.
Cloud Burst – Siamat targets a random player's location and summons a 5 yard radius cloud ring there. After 3 seconds the cloud bursts, inflicting 21645 to 25155 Nature damage and knocking up any player standing in the cloud every second for 3 sec.
Servant of Siamat – Siamat summons three of these large air elementals during Stage 1. A single Servant enters the fight every 45 seconds, or immediately after the previous Servant dies. After all three Servants die, Siamat enters Stage Two.
- Lightning Nova – The Servant of Siamat emits a circular pulse of energy that inflicts 13828 to 16071 Nature damage to all enemies within 10 yards.
- Thunder Crash – The Servant of Siamat builds up a massive charge of electricity then unleashes the energy at his current target inflicting 30062 to 34937 Nature damage.
Minion of Siamat – Siamat summons these air elementals to join the fight approximately every 30 seconds in both Stages.
- Chain Lightning – The Minion of Siamat strikes a random player with a lightning bolt that then arcs up to 10 yards to four additional players. The bolt inflicts 10175 to 11825 Nature damage to the first target, then 70% less each time the bolt arcs to a new target.
- Tempest Storm – When the Minion of Siamat reaches 5% of its remaining health, it unleashes a 6 yard radius storm above him that slowly moves around the platform. Any player standing under the storm takes 10237 to 13162 Nature damage every second.
- Depletion – The Minion of Siamat slowly depletes its power over time and loses 10% of its health every 2 seconds.

Stage Two: Cower Before the Storm!

After the players kill three Servants of Siamat, Stage two begins with Siamat landing on the platform and becoming vulnerable to damage.

Wailing Winds – Siamat begins stage two by inflicting 3607 to 4192 Nature damage to all players every second for 6 sec. Players are also violently knocked around the platform during the spell.
Storm Bolt – In stage two, the Storm Bolt inflicts 14137 to 15862 Nature damage.
Gathered Storms – Siamat absorbs a Tempest Storm formed by a Minion of Siamat. After absorbing the storm, Siamat blasts two players every second for 2405 to 2795 Nature damage for 25 sec.
In Heroic Difficulty Siamat blasts all players instead of two.
