Tactics:

Start with your tank ready to taunt Hummel (purple). As soon as he's been taunted, activate your purple potion and kite him over to Baxter, the second mob who you will need to taunt immediately.

When both Baxter and Hummel are taunted, the DPS need to get each of them down as soon as possible. The potions given wont hold out with both mobs proccing debuffs roughly every 5-8 seconds. When you've killed Hummel, it's plain sailing. Just make sure you keep consistent with the use of the yellow potion, but dont count your blessings. By hummel's 50% mark Frye, the final mob of the encounter comes out. When Baxter has been downed, the healer needs to be on tip-toes to avoid AoE debuffs, which can also be cured through the potions. You'll see the green/purple puddles on the ground. Frye is very much an "ants in your pants" mob, so aggro is vital.

If the tank dies during the encounter, you can certainly count on a melee dps surviving, dependant on the healer. The bosses, side the debuffs have quite a shallow damage pool, so be sure to continue the encounter if this happens - Dont give up just yet!

Notes: Make sure that if you die, and the encounter is still in the bag, DO NOT RUN IN! The mobs will despawn, and the summoner's turn will be lost until the next daily is acquired.

Forever-Lovely Rose - Misc. headpiece for roleplaying and style.
Big Love Rocket - Extremely rare flying/ground mount (310%)

Also drops another RP hat: Vile Fumigator's Mask (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=50741).

Tip: rather than not standing in stuff at all, stand in the color that you match. The green and purple pools never overlap, and last a while...so move to one that matches you and you don't have to worry about the floor for a while.

The Big Love Rocket isn't exactly 310%. It scales with the highest mount speed you have, so if you have a 310% flyer, it will fly at 310%.

a note to the amazing players... this boss is nothing like the Headless Horseman or Coren Direbrew. It is NOT easily soloed, with the massive amount of AoE going around. Self healing yourself will not be able to cover it. Save your attempt and don't waste it trying to solo this encounter!

I've tanked and dps this and you can tank it standing where Hummel is the whole time unless you need to move from a damage pool under you.

Apothecary Hummel and Baxter do their spray which can easily kill someone if they are not healed or if they do not have immunity from the cologne or perfume immunity pot the goblin gives you. Just have the tank face them away from the group and you wont have to worry. If you are all green or all purple immune you could very well just ignore that color guy because he wont be hurting anyone.

Apothecary Frye just runs around and throws cologne and perfume clouds all around. It can be hard to get aggro on him as a tank because he does not hit people and just runs around throwing clouds out. These can be difficult to heal through and it is recommended that your group not be stupid and get out of the ones that can damage them. Apothecary Frye should be burned either second or last depending on how together your group is.

I've actually come up with my own tactic that has seen the best results so far of any that I've tried.

The fight starts just as it does normally: everyone puts on the purple neutralizer and the tank picks up Hummel. However, when Baxter comes alive, a DPS (I suggest plate DPS, meaning DK, paladin, or a warrior, but a rogue, or even a Hunter works) switches to the green neutralizer and picks him up. This OT of sorts should keep Baxter over by the table where he activates until Hummel is down. After Hummel is dead, the rest of the group can switch to green and kill Baxter. Finish up by taking down Frye, and you have a nice, clean kill and some new loot.

The advantage to this tactic is that it keeps the majority of the group out of Baxter's spray while they are still vulnerable to it (greatly easing up on the healer and putting melee DPS at less risk), and it is easier for a less geared, new, or low DPSing group to accomplish.

What is the minimum level to be able to summon? I've successfully summoned with 76 but a 72 is too low for the daily quest. Perhaps they can do the chain but the bald-assed daily is out.

Just because it needs saying: Why the hell would you need a tank? He hits for at least no more than 300-400, ALL damage in this encounter is from their abilities, clouds, sprays, whatever. I've healed it two days in a row now, and I just leave the dps to dps as they wish, I never bring a tank. There's no problem at all healing this unless people start standing in the wrong colour clouds.

I don't know what all the fuss is about with OT and "bad" groups. Hunters can trap Baxter. He can also be feared, hexed, and I assume sheeped(havn't had many mages) you just have to watch out for the stupid clouds on the ground. No OT needed...use CC if you remember what it is.

I don't think this has been said, but it is interesting to note that this boss is the first <anything> in the game that can KILL companion pets! (Aside from Zergling-Grunty fights). Standing in the slime puddles with a non-flying pet will result in its death. I baaawed when my Spectral Tiger Cub got killed before I knew it would happen, but I have to admit it was kind of funny when I pulled out Lil' K.T. It also kills the Toxic Wasteling: he must've been standing in the wrong color!

Edit: Well they sure hotfixed that quick! As of today (I think) the puddles no longer kill pets.

Wrong! If you click on the mount within the loot table here and read the comments you will clearly see that it was confirmed that the mount is 310% speed even WITHOUT previously having a 310% flyer

Some interesting things my group found on our attempts tonight:
Baxter is able to be sheeped. Unknown if the other two are.
Frye cannot be mind controlled by a priest, he is immune. Unknown if the other two are.
Hummel can be mind controlled with an Engineer's Mind Amplification Dish, but after fighting with Baxter for about 10 seconds all three of them despawned and we lost that summon. Unknown if the other two are affected by the cap, and I'm not eager to lose more summons trying it again.

I'm not sure about most of you, but I know when a seasonal boss comes out I find it much more interesting/enjoyable to try and make a challenge out of it. In this case, it meant trying to solo as an enhancement shaman.

After 6 days of failed attempts I finally got him down this morning, so suffice to say if anyone with some heals or CDs is bored enough, they could probably do it. In my case I tanked Hummel half way up the ramp leading the to next area, and as soon as Baxter came out I sent my wolves on him and had them taunt. That kept him busy for quite a long time, and when I got frighteningly low due to the apothecaries exploding, I popped my earth elemental. After you down Hummel it's not nearly as hard to kill the other two, just make sure you switch to cologne, kill off Baxter as fast as you can and take your time with Frye.

This post wasn't meant to brag, and I know a lot of you probably think it a stupid waste of time to try and solo something like this. But honestly it was quite a lot of fun :)

MoP update: This isn't "easy" anymore. It's actually closer to near-impossible, because even the meaty voidwalker will get gibbed pretty quickly. Oh well, kudos to anyone who can actually pull it off still. ;)

Warlocks! Your day has come at last, for you are the only class that can easily solo this set of bosses. Things to make this as smooth as possible, have ready the following:

- Voidwalker (dur)
- Fel Concentration (this encounter is going to be easiest as Affliction)
- PvP gear (for the extra health, although you should be fine in decent pve gear too)

Send the void on Hummel (so he sprays away from the central area is a good idea) then ignore him for now. Instead, use your cologne neutralizer and wait for Baxter to attack; wear him down using drain life as your filler spell, (drain life will help trivialize damage from the only real threats--exploding apothecaries and surprise pink clouds) and make sure to move away when he starts casting chain reaction. All you really have to do is play it smart--keep the big blue's hp above 1/2, tap/drain as necessary, keep dots/haunt up, and Baxter will drop no problem. Next, kill Frye and the fight is basically over. Hummel will be a joke, as the void will have so much threat by now, it'll feel like a real tank is on him.

You shouldn't even need to use a healthstone or potion, but it never hurts to have them handy.

I'm thinking the trio must me soloable by Retri Paladins using Repentance on Baxter while burning Hummel. and making sure to step away from cologne puddles on the ground.

lol I did this on my BM hunter.

Pet used: Worm (will need the Glyph of Mending, too)
Have him tank Hummel while you DPS him.
Tank Baxx with hunter until Hum is dead
After Hum is dead, have pet tank Bax and Frye
Kill them

Tadaa.

Not exactly for the MEH geared, but it is really easy. Pet gets over 2k health per 3 seconds with glyph, and pets don't need the neutralizers to not take heavy damage. And Improved Mend Pet cures all the poisons from your pet. Tanking w/ under is pretty easy with Scorpid Sting + Aspect of the Dragon Hawk, just because he does not do much damage in the first place and those two alone give you a 21% chance to not be hit (i think, either way i did not notice it).

Soloed as 80 level solo-BM hunter. Pet: turtle, used tier5(2). At first I tried a tact similar to what Surloin sayed here, but very soon I found out that the pet can easily tank both Hummel and Baxter without dying. Actually it would be very easy if not the adds that blow up. It is possible to kill them ofc (they have just around 500 hp), but there can be a lot of them at a time and 1 little mistake might cost you BIG. So through entire fight i was up the stairs, by the door from wich you enter that area (don't ever go back through the door during the fight, they'll despawn). It is possible to jump from that spot to the scourge wagon that is nearby. When you are on the wagon, the mobs can still attack you from the ground beneath it, but if you jump between the stairs and the wagon, they ll have to run a long way around to get melee range with you again. With this tactic it was also necessary to switch perfume and cologne pretty often, as the poison puddle would appear pretty much at the wagon or stairs (since i stood there most of the time). I also tried to keep the frost trap downstairs most of the time, using snakes and explosive trap on occasion, to get rid of some extra mobs.
FD+bandages when you get hurt (poison puddles don't break bandaging when you have the proper antidote on you). A thing to remember, however, is that FDing while you have aggro from Baxter or Hummel will lead to boss reset - so watch out. Also, a possible trick is to run into a puddle and FD there, while having the proper antidote on. This can buy some time to wait for cooldowns (as long as the pet can handle the mobs). I didn't have to use this one, though - it went quite clear and I only had to bandage a few times and drink a health pot.
Ah, 1 more thing: If you get to a spot, wich is unreachable by the mobs, as soon as you gain aggro from one of them they will just port you to themselves (instead of going evade mode).

You do not need a tank for this encounter,
I did this once with a group of 4 shadow priests and 1 holy priest,

Me, being a shadow priest, I used the purple potion and Shadow Word: Death to immediatly get aggro on the purple boss, I then just turned around in a way that he wont face the rest of the party.

The rest of the party used a green potion and finished off the other two bosses.

You can now only queue for this fight after finishing the quests that the inspector/detective gives to you. After you're done just talk to him again and you'll get a little option to prompt, opening the LFG window and enabling you to queue.

Drops 346 necks.

Choker of the Pure Heart (Str DPS
Winking Eye of Love (Healer)
Heartbreak Charm (Caster DPS)
Shard of Pirouetting Happiness (Tank)
Sweet Perfume Broach (Agi DPS)

All these necks are just "upgraded" versions of the wrath one, better stats.

You know, while I've got max level toons that can complete every seasonal event's achievements, including the seasonal bosses, I have a ton that can't because they're 'too low level.'
I really resent the fact that Blizzard can't be bothered putting instance level seasonal bosses in the dungeons they spawn in.
IE
Hummel and friends in SFK -
Why can't the normal instance level players (18-21) also have a 'mini Hummel' encounter?
No flying mount drop but why not a special ground mount and level appropriate blue/epic gear drops? This would be especially interesting for level 18-21 players because they're about to get their first level of riding! Hey how about a pink/white striped horse!

The same with every other seasonal encounter.
WHY are the low level players ALWAYS left out in the cold and potentially start saying 'screw it. It's not worth participating.'
And, yes, I realize lowbies can participate in many of the quests/achievements attached to each holiday, but they're STILL left waiting another entire year to complete...

Lowbies deserve perks too, if only to keep them interested in the game and paying to play.

You can queue up for the first SFK run during Love is in the Air by using this script to select the right event in the LFD frame:
/run LFDQueueFrame_SetType(288)
You can select your roles and join the queue without having to talk to the NPC at all, yay for saving travel time!

Blizzard did away with easy que for event instances (apparently). Currently you have to do the stupid quest chain that Snap Snagglebolt starts, (see how wonderously well designed this chain is in comments) THEN go to Snap, talk to him, and he brings up the que...yeah it's a pain :(

I have to say that since many ppl only care about the instance que, the wowhead guide is not very clear in this regard.

p.s. you don't have to do quests to que? could someone check? maybe you just have to talk to the little bugger in org..

Sigh. I have been trying to queue for this on my three 83 toons without success. Broke through to 84 today and was able to queue on one toon, although the wait was LONG for DPS. Can anyone else confirm this dungeon is based on reaching level 84 and not the item level of your gear?

If people are gonna do this event, they need to read up on it. If you choose not to read wtf you're supposed to do, then don't expect a healer to be able to heal 4 people who don't use the potions and have all three of the damage buffs on them.

It is recommended to start the fight nuking him (phase where the tank will use Perfume Potion) , then go to Baxter , and switch to Cologne and then Frye who has random aggro.

This encounter qualifies for the guild dungeon challenges. On a Monday night with 0/7 dungeons done, I ran this repeatedly with two guildies. It took us 17 minutes to get to 7/7. (I'm a tank, so no waiting around in queue.)

Of course, you can only get the heart-shaped box once per day. I've never gotten anything but tokens from it, though…
