The ONLY place to fish these guys up is in the barrens. Any of the Oasis' or inside wailing caverns near the instance portal. I used to queue up for battlegrounds and fish for deviates while i waited. Queues are no longer an issue since battlegroups so i rarely get a chance to fish any more :(

The recipe for savory deviate delight also only drops in the barrens (both from what i've heard and observed).

if you are horde i think you should fish in the barrens in one of the oasis. itll be easy if your higher than lvl 20 cause you might have to defend yourself against the monsters.

These fish can be a good way for a horde character to gain some profit early on.

You could net a few gold selling a stack of these on the AH. Don't expect much for selling them raw though.

The best fish site is INSIDE the wailing caverns, the "lake" just before the portal to the instance. If you eat the fish, you will get some buffs, like "party time" wich make your dancing, and then a lot more buffs, but a lot more cool thing is to cook it to a savory deviate delight fish, but the recipie is kinda hard to get tho..
But i got the recipie on a horde char i created.. and do you know how? By killing the first mob i saw in the barrens.. kinda lucky, huh. :D

Farming the Recipie:

Usually has a 1% chance with EVERY mob in the Barrens - For Alliance find somthing out of the way so you wont get bothered, I suggest Witchwings to the north because Nobody ever goes around there. I got mine off of a Plainstrider.

Getting the Fish

I recomend 50 fishing with bait or 120 fishing without.

In the Barrens There are 4 places to get these things effectivly.

The Forgotten Pools: This place normally has about 4 fish spawns (Little round pools with 100% drop rate) This is my favorite place to fish because if there are no fish spawns at any other ponds this has the highest droprate of "Open Fishing" (Fishing randomly) of about 40%
Mobs: Wandering level 13-14's somtimes packed in 2 or 3s

The Lushwater Oasis: Here you will find the most fish spawns in the barrens, around 8 if your lucky. This place might have the highest spawn rate, the drop rate is reduced to about 20%
Mobs: Level 14-15 Turtles and Kolkars, But be carefull there is a wandering pack of level 18-19's that walk around the pools, keep a sharp eye and you will be safe

The Stagnant Oasis: This is definatly not my favorite place, Getting here requires fighting several mobs. There are 2 fish spawns here and a drop rate of about 30% I recomend that higher levels/Alliance fish here though because you will have the smallest chance of getting PvP ganked
Mobs: Level 13-18 Raptors, Turtles, Kolkar, Kodos, Giraffes

The Wailing Caverns: This is another good place to fish if your alliance, Inside the instance you are protected from all PvP, Although there are no fish spawns here, there is a 41% drop rate. I recomend this place for long term fishing. My favorite place is where Naralax the Dreamer sleeps, simply because there are no mobs here.
Mobs: Level 15-23 ELITES and several respawning pats

Cooking the Fish

If you have the recipie this is quite simple. You will need 80 cooking and some Mild Spices for each one you will make, I often take simple wood and flint and tender, along with about 120 spices. After I finish fishing I can cook them right there.

All calculations were done with the ultamate mod... FISHING BUDDY its a must for fishing. It gives live percentages of the fish you catch and keeps track of every fish you have ever caught. it even remembers the spot you caught it at!

When i farm these i usally just go from oasis to oasis and usually end up with a perfect 20 in a little more than 30 min...the pool outside the instance is good, but the oasises usually have about 2 schools each, and that is faster if nobody else is farming them atm.

i farm mine inside WC. After u defeat the big boss u jump down into a deepish pool u can get to this without having to go through the whole dungeon so i fish mine in there at lvl 75 fishing and get one almost every other time i cast

It seems like all the waters in The Barrens are linked when it comes to Schools of Deviate Fish, meaning new schools won't spawn unless someone has fished out the ones already up. So if you're in for farming these at night, say you're on an alliance character like me or just don't like competition, switching lakes every once in a while could really be worth the travelling time. I managed to catch a full stack on just one run to the other two lakes from The Forgotten Pools and then back again, as I found about 8-10 schools.

I started farming deviate fish at lvl 50 fishing and with deviate fish i trained it to 225. I'm lvl 30 undead rogue, and i get money for my first mount really easy with these fishes. And little tip: Train cooking to lvl 85 so you can get a LOT more gold. Maybe couple hours and you have money for your mount.

I Fished at the Cavern of Mists (near the entrance of WC), and I got a drop rate on Deviate Fish of 28.3% fishing 290 fish total.

I have fished Wailing Caverns, The Dreamers Rock (where Naralex sleeps).

The droprate on deviate fish is 29.8% after 2417 successful casts.

Guess you can't be more accurate than that, the one saying 41% is just really lucky or very wrong!

I Will Say That There Is About 30% Chance to get a Deviate Fish After i About have fished 600 Time's xD... there is about 30%-50% :D... I Recommend 100 Fishing and +75 or 150 Fishing :D

The best place to farm these is inside The Wailing Caverns instance at Dreamers Rock, There is little to no agro, and it is inside instance so no one will bother you. I go here and farm them and easily make 1.2kg a night. These are great money makers.

Inside the Wailing Caverns, immediately to the right of the main room. Go through that little overpass-like area, there's three small waterfalls into a small pond. Fish there, you're guaranteed some.

Hope you find below tactics useful for you. It's about fish itself, not a recipe.

There are 3 lakes in Barrens you should fish for Deviate Fish. I usually start with The Forgotten Pools (fish rate 53%) then I head to Lushwater Oasis (fish rate 39%) then Stagnant Oasis (fish rate 37%) and back to The Forgotten Pools. It takes me around 45 mins (including travel time between lakes) to fish 3 stacks of Deviate Fish taking into consideration I have Fish Fish ability which allows me to idenfity School location very fast. If you do not have this ability just run around lakes and look in the water to find the fish school which is usually close to the shore.

Fish rate in brackets stands for Deviate Fish rate. It can probably vary for you, but not much. Happy fishing :)

Did these get nerfed out of the WC fishing table? Im grinding fishing skillups on a new toon, and have counted twenty catches with no deviate fish. I really don't want to look up the z-score on the probability, but whether its a 41% or ~30%, twenty nulls is a vanishingly small probability.

EDIT: Of course, as soon as i post this, I get them on the 22nd, 28th, and 33rd catch. The RNG is your friend.

This is an excellent money maker for Hordies or adventurous Allies starting in a new realm. Given the nearly 30% spawn rate shown above, and assuming you can cast three times per minute, a devoted fisher can catch about one Deviate per minute. Two hours of Deviate fishing could net 100g, which should provide for your equipment and training needs to at least level 30. The cooked product sells for three to five times as much as the raw fish, so it may be worth a few hours' farming to find the recipe.

(Personally, I'd farm for two recipes, one to sell and one to keep; because it's so time-consuming to find the recipe, high-level characters, especially Allies, will pay handsomely for it.)

I also like the forgotten pools if you get enough fish you can go to the mountains northeast of forgotten pools and kill burning blade toxicologist which have the highest chance otherwise you can hunt Savannah Patriarch just north of there and they have a 0.2% chance

So far I've got three different effects from the raw ones on my lvl 36.

Shrink - a 2 min curse that decreases strength and stamina by 8 and makes you smaller.
Invigorate - a heal (mine was 426hp).
Rejuvenation - HoT that ticked 45hp every 3 seconds for about 10 seconds.

These fishies are MAJOR gold in the neutral AH thanks to the dangerous locale for any low lvl ally player with waves of horde players visiting each of these areas twice while leveling up their newer players taking quests from the crossroads.
This item is a reagent for the giant growtn elixir, it is an early alchemy potion but it is a very intimidating when going on raids in noob territory. Just imagine all those lvl 10 dwarves thinking that we've grown gigantic orc's and dk's when you go into a major city (too freaking funny)

I can confirm your calculations.

After 1000 catches in the River inside of Wailing Caverns I had exactly 290 Deviate Fish, which makes it a 29,00% drop chance. So I assume the catch rate is somewhere around 27-30%

Under a smaller timeframe I was able to gather this information in desilent's fishing area.

After approx. 300 catches 80 were Diviate Fish, which makes it a 37.5% drop chance under a shorter time. So in that case your drop chance can vary from 3 in every 10 casts to 4 in every 10 casts.

Note: My fishing skill is 450 with a +20 fishing rod and +100 lure, so 570 fishing overall.

PROTIP for aspiring Deviate Fish anglers: Fish from the schools. I did a little counting recently while fishing for these:
out of 100 casts landing only in the schools, I had:

84 Deviate Fish
12 Tightly Sealed Trunks
3 lots of Stranglekelp (i'm assuming the drop is similar to picking it from a node, since one cast awarded me with 3 Strangkelp)
2 Rumsey's Rum Light

Approximately 84% catch rate from my small test, fishing entirely from the fish schools.

Conversely, fishing from the open water in the oases yields about 30-35% catch rate for Deviate Fish among the other low level fish, consistant with what already is known.

The best place I found for hunting is Lushwater Oasis. Up to 3 schools in the smaller upper pool near the entrance to Wailing Caverns, and 4-5 schools in the larger drained pool with the tortoises closer to the Great Divide. By the time you've fished every school, the first school will have respawned, allowing for efficient fishing.

Seems like these pools spawn fast, i just farmed around lushwater oasis, everytime i fished one and went to another, another would re-respawn. Worth the movement because the gaurenteed drop from pools.

Okay was it just a one-time awesome glitch for me or is the respawn rate of the fishing nodes in Lushwater Oasis just really really funky?

I went there and as soon as I fished the entire oasis, another node appeared after just a couple seconds! Once I fished that one, I waited a couple seconds, did some roaming around the oasis, and found another one! And so on! It was crazy/awesome! I acquired 100 deviate fish in less than an hour, fishing from just a single body of water! Finally I just got tired of fishing and went home.

But I made 750 gold on the AH from those things (Yes I know, the Stormrage AH is totally wack with its overpriced items), and that's a lot for me, since I only sell at prices 10-20 less gold from the current best deal on the AH. Oh and if you ever need lots of briarthorn, the oasis has about 7 I think and they have the same funky respawn rate! I got close to 40 of those as well.

But I realized that it's not that the nodes and plants are just on a really low respawn time, they just seem to start popping up again once you fish/gather the area already. I know this because I fished in a strictly clockwise way around the oasis, starting from the east side, and the nodes never popped up in the same pattern. Almost like it's something Blizzard deliberately conjured for fun (sounds Blizz-like, doesn't it?).

Oh and if you decide to try this out, and you can't seem to find any more nodes, make sure your minimap is zoomed out all the way to see farther-away nodes and also be sure to check the little mini-pool of water right next to the oasis. A lot of times, I'd be riding by the little pool, and my minimap wouldn't show anything, but if you stop moving for a second and give your map time to think, it should show up in just a second... Or just fly/ride around the entire oasis and look for the sparkling swirls of water =).

Anyways, hopefully this helps somebody out, it sure helped me raise enough money to purchase my artisan riding! And I sadly only had the opportunity to test this out once; I know I should have checked twice to see if it was just a bug or something temporary, but my game subscription ended today and I just discovered this last night =(
Anyways, if this works for you guys too, please reply - I want to know! =D

For what its worth, I just ran a little test at The Forgotten Pools in N. Barrens @ 36, 46. I fished in 3 schools of Deviate Fish and in open water the rest of the time, using a Jeweled Fishing Pole and maintaining the Sharpened Fish Hook buff the whole time. I began at fishing lvl 505, and 20 mins later I had a fishing skill of 516 and had fished up:

Deviate Fish x 28
Raw Brilliant Smallfish x 5
Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper x 17
Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish x 12
Tightly Sealed Trunk x 1 containing:
- Bolt of Woolen Cloth x 2
- Light Leather x 3
- Lesser Healing Potion x 2

If your server's AH is out of these Deviate Fish like mine was, I'd highly recommend fishing here. Drop rate seems pretty good and so long as you're over lvl 20 you won't have any trouble with the local Kolkar pats (they are lvl 12-14).

I went to Forgotten Pools and Lushwater Oasis around noon servertime. In both places the pools respawn just as fast as you can fish; you will never have to fish in plain water.
10 minutes will yield about 20 Deviate Fish and some trunks, rum and stranglekelp.

Deviate Fish are easily farmable in the oases (plural of oasis :P) of the Northern Barrens, with the recipe for Savory Deviate Delight being common and people loving this item, this is a good way for lower level mains to make some gold.

If you're wanting to get a lot of Deviate Fish in not a lot of time, I recommend going to Lushwater Oasis, which are the pools of water in front of the Wailing Caverns cave entrance, in Northern Barrens. In about 28 minutes I got:
Deviate Fish x58
Rumsey Rum Light x6
Tightly Sealed Trunk x8

I just fished in the pools, and I had 14 Deviate Fish, 2 Rumsey Rum Light, and 2 Tightly Sealed Trunk when I left The Forgotten Pools. At the Lushwater Oasis, I got the rest of my items in a very short amount of time. There are two pools; one pretty small, and a pretty large one with turtles around it. (There's also a rare that swims in the middle of the larger pool sometimes.) When I made a full circle around of the pools, the Schools of Deviate Fish were respawning. Fast respawn, I'd say, and plenty of fish coming out of those pools.

I did this from around 8:40 PM to 9:10 PM.

What I used: Weather-Beaten Fishing Hat, Seth's Graphite Fishing Pole. I had a fishing skill of 248 when I started and ended with 272.

I've only been able to catch these in the barrens. I cook them and sell them at the auction house. I haven't been getting much for them since everyone's undercutting my price and the economy on Bronzebeard sucks. I've been getting 40s a piece and sell them one at a time. I get more for them than if I sell a stack.

If you get the recipe for these BE CAREFUL! I've bought this recipe for a 5s buyout at the auction house, even though it's worth at least 20 gold. A lot of people don't know what it's worth. It is from a drop from any monster in the barrens, but it is RARE. I've searched days for it. The best thing to do is catch them and cook them yourself. I make several golds a day from selling them.

The current form change for deviate delight is it turns you into a pirate or a ninja for one hour. It used to do some other stuff, but these are the only two things it's doing at the moment. The uncooked fish will shrink you or do some other things, but the effect doesn't last long. I've found that firefin snapper sells for more than uncooked deviate fish.

Deviate Fish have completely different effects from Savory Deviate Delight. Deviate Fish have the following effects (Effect name - Debuff Type - Description - Duration):

Party Time! - Magic - Makes your char perform random emotes every few seconds like dance, chicken, wave, clap, etc. 2 minutes.

Sleepy - Magic - Makes your char sleep. 30 seconds.

Shrink - Curse - Shrinks your char and reduces Stam and Strength for 8 seconds. 2 minutes.

Healthy Spirit - Magic - Increases spirit by 5. 30 minutes.

Invigorate - N/A - Heals you for a random amount of health (The range, I've found, seems to be between 400-600).

these are very good for money! to find them, these are the locations (basically anywhere in barrens with water besides the sea and the river between durotar and barrens)

-stagnant oasis- this is an okay place, it's good if you're on a pvp server because no-one's ever around there, but there are only a maximum of 2 schools there.

-lushwater oasis- this is the best one, however it is the most popular because it is near enterance to wailing cavens, and also because it has a maximum of *5* schools of fish. as soon as the last school is fished out, the first one has respawned! this is the best place, just watch out for the lvl 19 wandering mob with 2 bodyguards - he wanders around the whole lakes.

-forgotten pools- this is the second most popular, because horde have 2 quests there. it has a maximum of 2 schools, however there are no lvl 15 crabs in the water, unlike the other 2.

-wailing caverns- if you are outside the instance, this is a bit of a problem if you're alliance on a pvp server because there are always horde running past, so it's best to go inside the instance. Outside has 3 schools i think (not sure) and inside has 0 schools that i've seen.

if you cook the fish, it sells for more, but you then cant use the cooked one for alchemy.

i don't know how you say when you fished the last pool one already regens because i fish probably 3 from every 3 schools everytime i go there but they don't regen fast at all. it's a big pool but i can run all the way around it three times and still see nothing.

i am on bronzebeard as well and i bought the recipe for maybe 5s from someone who didn't put a buyout price one night. don't think they knew what it worth, but i am reaping the benefits. i've sold a stacks of 20 for 15 gold. since they are so easy to fish i think it's a great way to start making money for new players! just watch the AH and cross your fingers!

I spent the best part of an hour at the stagnant oasis and this is what I caught:

17 Deviate fish
50 Raw longjaw mud snappers
18 Raw bristle whisker catfish
8 Raw brilliant smallfish
2 deviate scales

that seems to me to be a ratio of approximately 4.6:1 or for every Deviate you catch you'll get 5 of something else.

Ok I am a level 23 Troll hunter on Thunderlord server. I have fished about 400-500 of these fish so I hope to share what I have found out with you.

Farming the Recipie:

Usually has a 1% chance with EVERY mob in the Barrens - For Alliance find somthing out of the way so you wont get bothered, I suggest Witchwings to the north because Nobody ever goes around there. I got mine off of a Plainstrider.

Getting the Fish

I recomend 50 fishing with bait or 120 fishing without.

In the Barrens There are 4 places to get these things effectivly.

The Forgotten Pools: This place normally has about 4 fish spawns (Little round pools with 100% drop rate) This is my favorite place to fish because if there are no fish spawns at any other ponds this has the highest droprate of "Open Fishing" (Fishing randomly) of about 40%
Mobs: Wandering level 13-14's somtimes packed in 2 or 3s

The Lushwater Oasis: Here you will find the most fish spawns in the barrens, around 8 if your lucky. This place might have the highest spawn rate, the drop rate is reduced to about 20%
Mobs: Level 14-15 Turtles and Kolkars, But be carefull there is a wandering pack of level 18-19's that walk around the pools, keep a sharp eye and you will be safe

The Stagnant Oasis: This is definatly not my favorite place, Getting here requires fighting several mobs. There are 2 fish spawns here and a drop rate of about 30% I recomend that higher levels/Alliance fish here though because you will have the smallest chance of getting PvP ganked
Mobs: Level 13-18 Raptors, Turtles, Kolkar, Kodos, Giraffes

The Wailing Caverns: This is another good place to fish if your alliance, Inside the instance you are protected from all PvP, Although there are no fish spawns here, there is a 41% drop rate. I recomend this place for long term fishing. My favorite place is where Naralax the Dreamer sleeps, simply because there are no mobs here.
Mobs: Level 15-23 ELITES and several respawning pats

Cooking the Fish

If you have the recipie this is quite simple. You will need 80 cooking and some Mild Spices for each one you will make, I often take simple wood and flint and tender, along with about 120 spices. After I finish fishing I can cook them right there.

I went in the WC for fishing on deviate fish as lvl 51 warlock alliance, with my fishing skills 175. I tried fishing with a shiny bauble, the crawlers and the bright bauble. And this is what i got after 30 minutes of fisfing
Deviate fish 20
Raw longjaw mud snapper 22
Raw brilliant smallfish 9
Raw bristle whisker catfish 11
not bad for half an hour of fishing
And skilled up to 188

i found 3 today off the turtle in the lushwater oasis, i was try to get my cooking up by getting clams, and i kept getting them, i was getting mad bacuase i had to buy my first one lol, maybe its different on other servers im on archimonde

The recipe dropped for me from one of the Plainstriders - Barrens - while I was farming for light feather for my mage. After reading the above I popped over to the Stagnant Pools and cast my rod (there are no pools of fish to be seen like you see for Firefin or Blackmouth). So far I have 15 Deviate Fish in 20 minutes and have no need to go to the other pools at this stage. Happy Fishing! :)

I fished for 1 hour and 9 mins, Caught 66 Dev Fish Inside WC, as stated above by someone where Naxx Sleeps.. I also Downloaded the Fishing Buddy and my Dev was about 30%.. and also Deviate can be fished with and with out a pool, but if you land your bobber in a Dev pool its usually 100% catch for 5-6 Fish.

Think there are certant times of day were schools occurs, might be wrong, but have been fishing in the forgotten pools and.. sometimes they spawn all the time, sometimes hours between spawns.

(yes been here for hours, since I am leveling my fishing fromn 200-375 here)

56, 42 (stagnant oasis), you can catch deviate fish either in the pools or just regular water, not fishing in a pool will obviously present a lower drop rate. but the point is that they do drop outside of the pools. in about 20-40 minutes ive caught 30 deviate fish outside of the schools.

these sell for so much on eitrigg, around 18g to the stack and their so easy to catch! Great way to make money. Forgotten pools all the way! I like to sell mine for a little cheaper than everyone else on auction house though so mine actually sells.

Good drops for me at the Lushwater Oasis, starting at 6:08 AM world time. Got a stack in less than 20 minutes out of 59 catches total.

I like this spot for its close proximity to the Wailing Caverns, which is dead easy to solo past a certain level and chock full o' greens – good if you have lots of lowbie alts and/or friends to support - and is also a good place to farm deviate scales. Between those, the fish and the loot, it's almost scandalously easy money.

i just bought the recipe for 50g on Jaedenar EU
so ofc i went fishing imediatly... i did only have like 10 in fishing, so it took me like 15-30 attempts to catch 1 deviate fish

my advice: get around 25 fishing ATLEAST before you go fishing deviate fish, or else, it will take long time to just catch a single fish ^^

Tip: for me i did get the fish's easier when i did enter WC "Pre-instance" a little.. when u go into the WC pre instance, go the normal way to the WC entrance, not so far in, there is abit water "on the ground" it looks like there could possible not be any fish's there, but i tryed it - and i did get faster fishing level by fishing there :)

a stack of 20 raw fish sells for 10 gold on EU-steamwheedle cartel where the cheapest i have seen the recipe is 135 gold. still, selling a stack of fish for 10 gold is a pretty good profit, especially since nobody else seems to be selling the raw fish on that particular server.

i pull them from the lushwater oasis near the wailing caverns, around 48,40 in the barrens just southwest of the crossroads horde base. around dusk (server time), i can pull in about 20 or 30 per hour even without any schools spawning.

there is an area between the two bodies of water that is free of mobs and is perfectly safe to fish there for lower level characters. you also get a nice view of the skull entrance to wailing caverns if you face north and fish from the smaller pool. >:D

Well, I wanted to lvl my fishing from 285-305 so I could fish in Outland. I figured that I may as well earn some cash by catching some deviates and cooking them up into deviate delights while I was at it. So, I headed out to the barrens.

I wanted to figure out the drop rate for deviates where I was fishing, and I figured as long as I was at it, I may as well post it for the benefit of all you, since you've all helped me so much. Here it is:

The Barrens: Lushwater Oasis 46,40

I fished for about an hour, starting at fishing 285 and stopping at fishing 300. I caught 195 things:

Tigerseye 1/195=.005%
Lesser Mana Potion 1/195=.005%
Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish 27/195=13.846%
Deviate Scale 2/195=.0103%
Raw Brilliant Smallfish 22/195=11.282%
Deviate Fish 62/195=31.795%
Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper 80/195=41.026%

I was going to get to fishing305, but when i hit 300, i fished 27 fish with no lvl up...from 285 to about 290 i was averaging about 6 fish to lvl, between 290-300 i was catching about 10 in between each lvl gain. i'm not quite patient enough to go 30 fish between each lvl - i'll probably go to azshara to get the rest, or try outlands with aquadynamic fish attractor. ( i made an alt whos sole purpose is to make them for me =P )

As the drop rate above states, the best drop for these is in Forgotten Pools. Add the fact that there is a nice little tongue of land that sticks out in the middle away from curious mobs, and an unencumbered 180 degree view of the pools to mouse around for schools makes this the best fishing spot for Deviates I've found.

With 4 schools spawning (afternoon before 3pm server time, if it matters), I got a stack of these in less than 15 mins, and only a handful of other fish "trash". Drop was every third cast w/o schools.

When you eat the Deviate Fish you HAVE a chans on getting a Ninja or a Pirate for 60 minutes.
Its probably better chance on getting that when the fish is cooked as a Savory Deviate Delight.

I´m expert at catching theese fishes( :) ) so i think its best that u start fish them at 100 in fishin skill then you dont need any bait.

I think that its best to sell them in the Auktion House 5 a pice for 75 silver.

I've farmed this fish and these are the numbers that Fishing Buddy gives me:

Lushwater Oasis (SW of XR; near WC) 35%
Stagnant Oasis (SE of XR) 28%
Forgotten Pools (NW of XR) 26%

Also pulled in Longjaw Mudsnapper, Bristlewisker Catfish and Brilliant Smallfish. All of them good for working up your cooking skills. Oh, and the occasional bonus: Firefin Snapper and Deviate Scale!

This fish is fun, got instant heal, rejuvenation, spirit boost and shrink. if u make a giant growth pot and drink it while the person from the same race is shrinked standing next to you, its fun to see reactions from other players :D

Me and a friend level'd fishing up to 50 ( to get journeyman.) and went together to WC. there are a few spots.

you can do it at the pool right outside wc ( there are Deviate fish schools in those 2 pools) or just inside WC. every pool inside has these fish.

i used a fishing pole that had +5 fishing and i used the nightcrawlers thingy lures and got them in the second throw. its easy to farm these fella's.

i cook em and sell em for a nice price in a new realm ( onyxia)

This fish is great for cash. During peak times, I usually sell 40 in a few hours. The price varies with what is already in the AH, but I generally get 80silvers each for cooked. (But then again, they usually get bought in groups) The bad thing is that the schools of deviate fish that spawn in the oasis take like 3 hours to respawn. (Well, I was sitting there fishing for that time, and they didnt respawn)

I've gotten this recipe 3 times off the Neutral AH, I use the one in BB cause I'm usually in SW :P I usually resell them and make 10-25g doing so, I accidentally used one thought, guess I would've sooner or later anyways. If you're looking for this recipe, neutral auction house is your friend.

I got the recipe while leveling on my alt, sent it to Fuzzynick on Shattered Halls.

I got nearly 1.2g in 10 minutes.PST me if u want to buy.

I'll sell for about 15s each, or free with ur mats.

I get all my fish from the stagnant oasis, northwest of the crossroads.

The mats required are 1 Deviate Fish, and 1 mild spice, and of course, a stove or a cooking fire.

The recipe for it takes 85 cooking.

Eating a deviate fish will have a random effect on your character. Possible effects include:

* Healthy Spirit - increases your character's spirit by 5 points for 30 minutes.
* Invigorate - instantly heals your character 383 to 517.
* Party Time! - a magic debuff that causes the character to perform random emotes for 2 minutes. Your character will /clap, /cheer, /chicken, /lol, or /dance every 10-15 seconds, possibly interrupting spells or other actions.
* Rejuvenation - rank 4 of the druid buff by the same name, heals your character by 45 points every 3 seconds for 12 seconds.
* Shrink - a curse debuff that reduces your character's apparent size, as well as their strength and stamina, for 2 minutes.
* Sleepy - a magic debuff that sleeps your character for 30 seconds.

Get INSIDE WC, inside the instance. Then go to the spot where the last mob is, the 2 birds who fly away after it's done. FISH THERE!

Lushwater Oasis is in the Barrens. It is about 2/3 of the way up on the west side. Right below the Wailing Caverns.

The Cosmos Coordinates are: 46,37

These coordinates are in the middle...if you get close you will see it. It is protected by Snapjaws and Kolkar Stormers both around Lvl 13.

If you are Alliance (like me) better make sure you aren't set for PvP. Lots of Horde players questing and passing through.

I fished in the pool in the Cavern of Mists right next to the zone-in for Wailing Caverns for about 4 hours. During that time, I caught over 300 items and leveled my fishing skill from 125 to 205. Here is what I caught:

136 Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper (42.8%)
107 Deviate Fish (34.6%)
34 Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish (10.7%)
34 Raw Brilliant Smallfish (10.7%)
4 Deviate Scale (1.3%)
3 19 Pound Catfish (0.9%)

Best way to catch them is to just go between all 3 ponds and fish the Deviate pools it took me about an hour to get 80 also 14 Ramsey rum light, and 6 tightly sealed trunks. i was on my 64 mage with epic mount so not bad going from pond to pond
