Drops off of Jadefang. A unique-skinned green shale spider in Deepholme. Jadefang is tameable, so vanity pet collectors may have to compete with rare pet collectors on this one, depending on Jadefang's respawn timer.

Just submitted my screenshot, accursed spider Jadefang is hard to get to, and requires you to do the Deepholme daily with explosives to launch yourself into it's cave ledge.

Note to Hunters: This rare spawn drops the Tiny Scale Spider vanity pet, so you will have to make a choice between taming or getting a vanity pet, since odds are good this mob will be camped for a very long time. =(

Unlocking Jadefang:
First and foremost, you are going to have to wait for a certain Therazane daily quest, specifically Underground Economy. The quest is given by a Goblin NPC named Ricket in the crumbling depths. The daily quest gives you an item called Ricket's Tickers and is used to explode crystals around the caves, then gather them.

The key is using this item and its side effect, which is mentioned by the NPC. To quote: "I've got a nasty habit of packin' the explosives a bit thick. Mind the kick.". For those who aren't sure what that means: its a massive knock back, you will go flying 30+ yards.

Tunnel Navigating to Jadefang:

1.
Enter the Crumbling Depths, continue going straight, deeper into the crumbling depths.
2.
Once you see the colossal gyreworm (level 85 elite, non-attackable) pathing, go right and follow the same direction the gyreworm is heading.
3.
You will pass by one dead end tunnel before being in a large cave with many tunnels to choose from. Head into the far right tunnel.
4.
Take your first left when it presents itself, it should dead end back in the big open cave area.
5.
Looking in front of you, you should see a dark green crystal. To the far right you should see an elevated cave entrance (with a red glow inside) that is completely unreachable.
6.
Now the fun part. Who is ready for some Goblin engineering fun? :D
7.
You now have 2 options to get to Jadefang

Bomb Option #1 (Shorter Distance)

1.
Mount up while at the dead end. Jump onto the dark green crystal infront of you. You must be mounted to make a jump onto the dark green crystal structure in front of you. (Other speed increasing methods may or may not work: rocket boots, sprint, etc.)
2.
Once you've made it to the green block, face your in the direction/angle that you wish to be hurled. Place Ricket's Tickers in front of you and watch yourself go flying like only a Goblin invention can make you (I am looking at you, malfunctioning Rocket Boots).
3.
If you miss, repeat the last couple of steps till you get it, Ricket's Tickers have unlimited charges for you to try with.
4.
Once you make it into the tunnel, if you are very lucky, Jadefang will be waiting for you.

Bomb Option #2 (Longer Distance)

1.
Face your back in the direction/angle that you wish to be hurled. Place Ricket's Tickers in front of you and watch yourself go flying like only a Goblin invention can make you (I am looking at you AGAIN, malfunctioning Rocket Boots).
2.
If you miss, repeat the last couple of steps till you get it, Ricket's Tickers have unlimited charges for you to try with.
3.
Once you make it into the tunnel, if you are very lucky, Jadefang will be waiting for you.

I found the above guide a bit hard to understand and confusing (And also... very large), so I decided to try and make one slightly easier to understand.

Get the Underground Economy daily quest from Ricket, a goblin NPC located just inside the Crumbling Depths. More specifically, get the Bombs provided for this quest. NOTE: This daily quest is not available every day. If Ricket has no quest for you, come back each day until she does.
Follow the path further inside until you get to a large chamber. From here, go through the rightmost tunnel, and turn left at the next path split.
At the end of the path you will reach a ledge overlooking the chamber we started in and with a direct view of the cave Jadefang spawns in.
You may have noticed that the cave Jadefang spawns in is too high to reach; this is where the bombs we got from Ricket are put to use. Namely, you must use them to jump to the cave.
Using the bombs will place one on the ground in front of you; the bomb itself, when it detonates, will knock you away from it at a high speed and height. What you want to do is line up your jump so the cave with Jadefang in it is directly in front of you, then place a bomb. After that you move so you are between the bomb and the cave, and spam your jump button. You can also place a bomb with the cave behind you, and then just jump repeatedly in place. Either will work. Try to do this as close to the edge as you can for best results.
Success! You should be in the cave. If Jadefang is not in there, (She's hard to miss, as she stands right at the back and looks different from the other (Non-aggressive) spiders up here) then all you need to do is either camp the spot or hang onto the quest and check back later.

The easiest Way I have found is using the quest item from the quest "Underground Economy"

Follow the direction in the post above, and when on the ledge, just aim yourself (mounted) directly at the cave Jadefang appears in.

Click your quest item, and it should appear right below you. then take one tiny step forward, and blammy!... you are there!

I got it at midnight @ Stormscale.
I used the Ricket's Tickers from the daily Therazane quest just where Pebble appears inside the cave facing the entrance of the tunnel on the top right side of Pebble. I used the bomb while mounted and i stayed on top of it. I jumped to the zone where Jadefang respawns without a problem. When i landed it respawned in front of me... *joy*

The easiest method I found for getting up onto the ledge didn't involve any daily quests at all. All you need is a flying mount.

All you do is mount up right outside the cave entrance, where it will let you ride flying mounts. Disconnect your internet connections quickly (pull the Ethernet cable or shut of your wireless), fly to the ledge inside the cave while your computer tries to reconnect to the server, and then as soon as you land on the ledge, reconnect your internet. If you did it fast enough, you'll be on the ledge without having to wait for any kind of daily quest!

For anyone on Frostwolf server: I'd been sitting in cave since 5pm server time and Jadefang spawned at 1am server. I got up there with the Underground Economy daily bomb. Good luck hunters and vanity pet collectors :)

My best advice to obtaining this pet is to log off up where he spawns when you're done playing. I signed on tonight after not logging in for three days and I was pretty much standing right on top of him. I read that you should log off where he spawns on a post when Cata first came out and the advice worked for me so here I pass it along. Use the Underground Economy quest bomb from the goblin Ricket to get flown up onto Jadefang's platform. Check youtube on how to do this if you are not familiar with the process. While you have this quest in your log the Pebble daily quest does not spawn because they share the same quest slot. I just bailed on Pebbles the entire length of Cata thus far because I figured if my NPC Scan went off for Jadefang and the Underground Economy quest was not available, it would be a traumatic /facepalm. Now onto Pebble.

For nightelves: Just pull a couple of gyreworms and die under the ledge. When you corpsewalk back, just fly up in wispform and ressurect on the ledge :)

I'd reccomend going there on the days that the daily quest IS NOT up, as it's a higher chance that the spawn is up, for obvious reasons.

I got this for 2 friends today and yesterday. The guild perk 'Have Group, Will Travel ' works if one person can get up there. If you don't have the guild perk, a person with the quest and a hog can get both parties up there for the kill.

Jadefang is neutral so you wont pull it without attacking - easy fight for 85 level.

First time i found this rare spawn with my druid (was gathering herbs & ores round), actually NPC_scan able to track this mob while you are flying above and around the cave, tracking radius is really huge. As a druid (NE) i went inside cave and simply died under the place where actual rare was (for some reason NE's can fly there in a ghost, but no other race can).
Also i found Jadefang with my priest (main) when i came to entrance of this cave my NPC_Scan poped even twice, there were both Terborus (who drops 346! plate bracer) and Jadefang.

1. If you are Night Elf you can simply die under his platform and then just fly up in ghost form (not fixed yet)
2. You can get bomb-quest, just hold your bomb till your find Jadefang.
3. "Have group will travel" - works fine there
4. Warrior's heroic leap ability doesn't work there (will be fixed in patch 4,1)
5. Probably priest can leap you inside (Leap of Faith), but he has to get there somehow first:)

I only found out about this pet yesterday and after the fiasco i had with the sunflower (i'm crap at strat games) it seemed like an easy option for my 75th companion. After using the tickers to get up to the cave I left myself in the cave, logged back on 6 hours later and this green spider is standing on top of me. Quite an easy gain if you don't mind the waiting.

If you keep the quest in your log it will enable you to get up there on days where not many others can.

After about 14 hours camping Jadefang, after jumping BGs sitting in his cave, and coming back to see a Night Elf with his tamed Jadefang, after shooing off Horde and Alliance alike, i was prepared to give up. I left to Tol Barad, won that battle, took the port to Deepholm, did an hour long Alterac Valley battle just before the port to Therozane's Throne, got back, went though the port to the Throne, flew in, saw NPC corpses all over the Crumbling Depths, thought to myself 'Thats suspicious, Jadefangs probably dead'. But then imagine my surprise when i used Ricket's Tickers, bounced up to Jadefang's cave and saw him walking around. I took his life with great pleasure, and claimed my pet, shortly before hearthing to Org and bragging like hell. This lil' feller got me my 50 Pets Achive, too. I love him.

You don't need the daily quest to do this, you can turn off your internet, fly in, then plug it back in fast. I've done it twice now so it definitely is possible.

Tamed it at 1430 pac time on nazgrel.. have stayed in the cave.. 3 hours later still no spawn. Will stay 3 more hours and then will report any findings.

I personally witnessed an 8 hour 27 minute respawn timer. Jadefang spawned and was immediately killed in front of me at 11:03 pm. I stayed there until 7:30 the following morning, when she spawned again and was killed by me.

Just a heads up for people who may be grouped with friends when they find Jadefang:

I was grouped with my boyfriend when he stumbled across this rare NPC. He knows I am a pet-junkie (Just got my Nuts' Acorn a couple days ago!) and we frantically set about working our way to the upper cave where Jadefang sat tantalizingly out of reach. We tried the DC method, which probably would have worked if we moved all of our computer equipment to better fiddle with the ethernet hookup, but had swift success launching ourselves with the quest-item "Ricket's Tickers" for the quest "Underground Economy".

Now, on to that warning:

Jadefang went down like a ton of bricks yet I paused because I couldn't see sparkles. I looked at my boyfriend's screen thinking maybe the pet had a drop percentage below 100 but I saw sparkles and then the Tiny Shale Spider on his cursor. It is a white item, not a green one as many rare pets would be, and the loot just happened to be his.

I was incredibly lucky the WoW GMs took pity on us and swapped the item from his character to my own, but, one can never say if that is a service they would always be willing to perform for everyone. Better to avoid a bad situation, right?

Hope this saves a sociable collector any future frustrations.

I just read about this so thought I'd go have a look. Having not been to Deepholm for a while I thought it'd be a nice change.
Flying in I found someone killing Terborus at the cave entrance. Had no idea who that was but thought 'well no chance of Jadefang spawning at same time'. I stood under the cave where Jadefang spawns while reading up on how often. After a few minutes I thought 'well he's not here I'll head off somewhere else'. Just as I mounted up to leave my npc scan went off. He was there! So I waited very patiently for a mob to kill be below the cave, died, flew back in to Jades ledge, ressed and killed him pretty easily. Pet is mine after all of 10 minutes :o) Happy days!

I was waiting on the spawn for Jadefang last night to get the pet and got bored and logged off and when I came back on I was still in Deepholm so I decided to check to see if he was up, he just happened to be and after 10 minutes of trying to find him (I had to revert to here to figure out how to find and get to him) I got the companion pet off of him.

I then decided I would wait and see if Aeonaxx would spawn and again I got bored and logged off and then I logged back on a few hours later and was still in Deepholm and sure enough Aeonaxx spawned about 5 minutes later and I got the mount.

This has to be the luckiest day I've had since getting the Time-Lost Proto-Drake and then the Green Proto-Drake a day later from my first Oracle egg.

All I can say is keep an eye out, you never know when you're going to get lucky.

Also, for anyone interested in whether the spawns share some sort of timer, I killed Jadefang at about 1:30PM CST and then found and killed Aeonaxx at about 4:20PM CST, so there isn't a 6 hour window or anything between there spawns.

If you want to get this pet and you don't have the daily all you have to do is be a nightelf, die right under the ledge where he is spawned and then fly back into the cave and retrieve your body but only when you are over the ledge. You will be able to do this since you can fly while dead so long as you are a night elf.

This is how I got the pet without having to wait for a silly daily. :)

Used the Night Elf metode,
Die, fly in as a wisp and ress on the edge of Jadefang's "cave".

Worked as a charm.

Yes, it's true like the above post says. You can fly in and disconnect your internet connection while flying to get to the ledge. You will remain in flight and then can reconnect. I am going to camp there now until he respawns.

So I was super frustrated as I'm a pet collector and haven't gotten this little guy yet. After reading all the comments, I went to go get the Underground Economy quest, and haven't seen Ricket pop up with it for a month. I'd never done the quest, but am exalted with Therazane so I was a little confused, and significantly frustrated when I would see Jadefang pop up, and had no way to get to him (without the disconnect method). So I opened a ticket and here's what I got back:

"Thank you for reporting this issue to us. After an initial investigation, it appears that this is an issue we are aware of and are currently working to resolve as soon as possible. We do appreciate the information, as all reports we receive are added to the information we already have and help us to better find a resolution."

An easy way to get up there is to get a rogue and a druid to duel on the rock.

The rogue then shadowsteps up onto the druid's mushrooms that are placed just on the ledge Jadefang is on.

He can then summon people up there.

My rogue was level 62, it was summoned there. The druid needs to be 85 for mushrooms.

Now my rogue is left on the platform to summon people when it spawns. Hope this helps people!

Pretty cool looking pet, been camping for a couple of hours now, went to shower came back to see the other DK that was camping it to get the kill. He did a couple of emotes to calm me down.

On a side note, why are people trying to find alternative ways of getting this pet? Get underground economy, wait a few days when its not the daily, and you'll surely get ur pet/tame :)

I myself play wirelessly on a laptop, so for me it's easier as I just push the button to disconnect the wireless. The easiest way to perform this trick is to turn left when you get to the large gyreworm (going the opposite direction than him), and left again at the first opening. You'll get to the cave that contains Jadefang's ledge a lot sooner, thus reducing the risk that you'll be disconnected for having no internet for too long. Good luck!

Ok so I was completing the daily to obtain pebble. And Jade fang popped up so I opened my bag to use the bomb as I kept the daily for emergencies.

In horror I realised I didn't have the bomb with me, so I disbanded the quest to go and pick it up again and the quest wasn't there so I was kind of disappointed. I even hearth stoned to check if I still had the quest item in my bank (D'oh), only for my friend who I'd been whispering to see if they had the daily to invite me and summon me back to jade fang for me to get the companion.

In the chest behind jade fang there was 1gold and a blue plate belt.

So tip for everyone if your camping this or just keeping an eye on it. Do not complete or drop the daily and keep the quest item on you at all times.

There's no need to torture yourself trying to get to Jadefangs ledge with all these complicated "tricks". You don't have to die, unplug your ethernet cable, kick a cat while doing a rain dance or pray to Therazane's bulbous throat.

If you are determined to get there before unlocking the daily quest that provides the bomb, a friend who can obtain the quest can just as easily get you up there with his/her bomb.

I just got mine at 8:25 AM I camped out in the cacve over night. I got there by using the Bomb given by the Daily qest gver found at the frount of the worm cave.
