Sadly, the chain currently is uncompleted.. once it is stolen, you have no way to get your baby back. :( Disappointing ending, if this is how they're keeping it.

-I got this drop from the Kurzen camp, the follow-up quest was to kill 10 basilisks so it could eat 40 bites.

- the Quest NPC told me it would become useful and I still have the eggshell fragment in my bag to summon the wee guy.

- If you had it and it's gone, I don't reckon it's coming back sorry :(

At Bal'lal troll ruins (map here) my hatchling picked up skull and offered me quest Favored Skull. Hope it helps :-)

For horde side you get the hacthling from destroying the raptor eggs right outside Grom Gol. The game will auto accept the quest from it. After destroying a few eggs you will notice him following you. Turn in quest in Grom Gol and your off. You will not get another quest till your out killing. He will then pick up a skull and send you back to the NPC.

Trying to do Control Sample with this little guy out doesn't work out too well. While doing I Think She's Hungry, she eats all the corpses and doesn't allow you to loot. If you try and collect the blood after you finish feeding her, you will be unable to loot still, so be prepared to take a quick jaunt back to camp to turn it in before you start wasting time killing and getting no samples.

I mean I didnt got the raptor when doing the kurzen quests and else.

P.D. if you say about that the egg is given by the troll bloodlord Mandokir.Is he avaible for the alliance.
I just dont see him in rebel camp neither the horde camp(I just went in rampage to look at this guy in the horde camp and nothing--almost got kill).

Funny thing guys that a guildy pointed out to me the other evening while leveling archaeology. If you go to the Bal'lal Ruins in Northern Stranglethorn and dismount, after completing the quest chain of course, your baby lashtail raptor will pop up and chill with you! ;D

It seems to be only in the Bal'lal Ruins though in northern Stranglethorn. I was pretty sad that after completing the questline, you didn't actually get to keep the raptor, however those quests were so much fun! Hopefully Blizzard will continue the quest hub,and we'll be reunited with our lashtail raptors again soon haha. Until then if you ever want to see the lil dude, just pop into Northern STV and head to Bal'lal Ruins.

after i did all the quests with this little guy i couldn't find where to turn him in he stayed in my bags for awhile and i was messing around at the rebel camp in stranglethorn and their was some one called bloodlord mandokir and he wanted the little guy back he'll give u 60 silver and 320 experience and he'll tell u to give it back or else. but he wont do nothing. so i hope that help's with what to do with the egg frafment.

For Alliance after a series of raptor quests The bloodlord Mandokir threatens the gnome in the rebel camp if you don't give the troll the egg fragment.
After you give him the fragment he run down the road from rebel camp 2/3 the way to ZG then vanishes.
If you go back to the gnome (or stay there at rebel camp) the gnome has a quest to talk to the dranei priestess (who drank too much troll mojo me thinks) she offers quest Be Raptor this allows you to talk control over the raptor which leads to quest Ghaliri, and some sort of promise of entering ZG to take back your raptor.

I got my Lashtail Hatchling back today! After several months he was indeed waiting for me chained up by that meanie Bloodlord Mandokir in the new heroic Zul'Gurub. He's in the back, right across from where you enter the arena, and hard to see cuz he's so small. If you look on your minimap after downing the boss, you'll see the exclamation mark for the quest to recover An Old Friend. :)

How to obtain the Lashtail Hatchling companion as Horde

To see the Lashtail Hatchling inside the Zul'Gurub instance after killing Bloodlord Mandokir you must first complete a series of small quest lines in Northern Stranglethorn.

How to obtain the Lashtail Hatchling companion as Alliance (Credit to user: Madwolf)

For Alliance this chain starts with the quest Bad Medicine given by Brother Nimetz at the Rebel Camp.
Upon completion of Bad Medicine you will automatically obtain the quest Just Hatched and the Lashtail Raptor Egg Fragment. Return to Corporal Sethman at the Rebel Camp with the new hatchling.
He will then send you on the quest I Think She's Hungry to feed the baby raptor some basilisk meat. Make sure you have the hatchling summoned while killing basilisks so she may take bites from the corpses as you kill them.
Next you must do The Fate of Kurzen given by Lieutenant Doren in the Rebel Camp. Continue on his chain and do Spared from Madness next.
Now take the hatchling to the Bal'lal Ruins @ 33.7, 37.2 where you will find a pile of skulls on the ground. Your hatchling will run up to the pile and grab a skull from it. Now he will give you the quest Favored Skull. Return to Osborn Obnoticus at the Rebel Camp (This is the NPC that you must have logged out then back in to see according to some Alliance players).
Osborn will then give you A Nose for This Sort of Thing to start trying to figure out who that skull belonged to.
After that do the next quest in the chain, A Physical Specimen.
After completing the above quest line, Bloodlord Mandokir will spawn and offer a "quest" of the same name. He really just wants to steal the raptor from you because it's special. Do not chase him when he runs off. There is more to do, you must now embark on a chain to try and save your new raptor friend from her fate.
Osborn will give you a quest to go talk to Priestess Thaalia at Fort Livingston.
She will lead you on a chain to try and save your new raptor hatchling friend from her terrible fate of becoming the Bloodlord's new raptor slave. This is all your fault! But maybe you can do something about it...
1) Mind Vision, 2) See Raptor, 3) Mind Control, 4) Be Raptor, 5) Ghaliri
After that really cool and fun quest chain from the Priestess you are read to enter the 85 Heroic Dungeon of Zul'Gurub and face the Bloodlord Mandokir. It's time to undo the mistake you made by bringing him back to life, and you must save your new friend from a world of torture and evil. Once the Bloodlord falls at your hands, you will see An Old Friend.

So I just got the same problem, where i have the raptor but not the quest. . . then i dropped one of the jungle remedies and looted it again, and voila. quest appeared.

I'm finally here baby girl, it's been a long time and I know you thought I had moved on to bigger raptors and forgotten about you. You've always been on my mind and I just had to get stronger to come and rescue you. I've been out questing to get better weapons and find new friends that will come with me to save you. We battled eight times with your evil master and lost, but we kept coming back.

Many of our companions gave up and said we were not good enough to beat him. But I kept seeing your face and knew that someone would help us, the true masters of this world are kind and they came, and we won. You are free now and can roam this wonderful world with me and my companions. Let's go questing little girl !

So in a bout of miscommunication I deleted my egg fragment before completing the lashtail line of Quests (I was out of bag space, and I thought I had completed all the quests with the lashtail, so an experienced player told me to just delete it then so we could get on with the Instance we were in). The GM I spoke to said to look on here to find how to recover such a loss. I have yet to find such information. Does anyone know how you recover a mistakingly deleted egg fragment? I look forward to hearing back from someone. Thanks.

I have just completed this quest - loved it - time consuming and repetitive (for me) in learning what I needed to do to try and help my hatchling escape ..... plus reading here helped heaps - thank you all. I just wanted to say that after successfully crossing the first bridge go to the right and hide under the foliage because the trio you waited for earlier (walking right to left across the path leading to the 1st group of skulls) are coming down the path towards the second group of skulls. Keep an eye to the right and you can see the guard walking across the bridge .... when trio turns to walk back up their path and you cant see the guard on the bridge run and get the skull then run to the bridge and place it about half way - to save time I didnt bother even turning but ran backwards up to the top step of the bridge. guard on bridge trips and falls (whoopsy!) and you run over the bridge. Hide in the foliage to the left and behind the stone structure and just watch your minimap for a bit to see the way the guards move. There is a single guard runner from left to right who meets up with another trio, crosses paths and then returns - wait for them to be far apart and run for the tiki - the flame is behind the tiki and you will have to keep running ..... (I ma not sure now but I think I stopped under a leaf for a bit to make sure it was ok - check yr minimap for guards movements!) then light the twig run to the tike burn it - wait and then dash up to the first landing of the stairs ... stop there ... whats'is'name is there chatting away about not killing you because he needs the other whats'is'name M nasty ... you are then returned to Princess Thalia as your mind control quest is over and you cannot recover the hatchling. She and the emissary you are sent to will tell you to come back later - at least they did me. Return when you are stronger etc ... sad ... note I tried jumping off the first bridge to see if I could save the hatchling but it broke the mind control and returned me to Princess Thalia who then returned me to the mind control back to the elder raptor re the skulls.
Good luck - I am a solo hunter (lvl 42 or thereabouts) and not sure yet if I can solo in Zal'gurub to recover my hatchling - I am hoping so ... was cute and apart from my wolf (Bane) my first companion I think (not sure about the ballon thing from SW but didnt emotionally bond with that anyway ...) cheers

I destroyed my Lashtail Raptor Egg Fragment while trying to make room, and ended up being stuck unable to pick up "Favored Skull".

I left the area and came back though, and upon dismounting and walking into Bal'lal Ruins from the coast to the west, the little Raptor reappeared and ran up to the Skull Pile and grabbed a skull, then offering me the quest!

So, if you are stuck here, give that a try! The Raptor will appear and you can grab the quest!
