Best place to catch them seems to be Loch Verall north of the Bastion of Twilight. I did not find any schools at the shores of the Forbidding Sea.

Highland Guppy likes shallow water. Schools are all the way in Verrall river (Twilight Highlands), between rocks.

A decent place to fish for these if you don't want to move around looking for schools or being attacked by mobs is just north of Victor's Point. I was getting a mix of Sharptooth, Striped Lurker and the Highland Guppies.

There are a bunch of schools of Highland Guppy at Loch Verrall in Twilight Highlands, around north of the Bastion of Twilight.

Best place to get a lot of Highland Guppy is the lake by Twilight Citadel, Twilight Highlands. Go in a big circle, and you'll get at least 10-15 schools of fish. Plus sometimes there is Elementium Ore down in the lake.

Am I the only one noticing that phasing is affecting fishing pools? When I first arrived in the Highlands, I noticed many schools all up and down the river, not just at the Loch. Now that I've completed every quest (thus triggering the phasing tech), I'm seeing zero pools in the river - except now and then when flying overhead, and then they vanish the moment I land. I hope this isn't how Blizzard intended things to be.

correct me if i'm wrong, but u cannot fish this one off open water in TH, ONLY from schools, or may be the % is very very low.

this pretty much kills all the fish botters, and 4 is needed for seafood feast, unlike the LK fish feast u can fish those 3 kinds of fish, (nettlefish, salmon and the orange one) from open waters as long as u are in the right zone

on my server this fish is going for price about 10 times more expensive than other fish like, deepsea sagefish, lavascale, blackbelly, eel and rockfin, just cos this fish cannot be botted..

This cooking recipe can take you to 525 for anyone not sure of what pattern to get. Tons of these guppy pools spawn in twilight highlands all along the river that runs straight through the middle of the zone.Cant miss it.

I have completed all the quests in this zone. I have flown up and down the river for the past hour and cannot see one single school of fish. Rarely I will see one in the larger areas of water but not once in the shallow river area. Frustrating as I remember seeing all the schools of fish while questing but I have only just gotten this receipe.

If you're fishing in Highland Guppy pools you need to also be hitting the Algaefin Rockfin pools as they seem to be linked.

Same thing for me....I looked over every square inch of inland water and I couldn't find a single pool. I just wanted to catch one, just one, for The Limnologist and it took twenty casts. I can't imagine being the guy who farms these for his raid's fish feasts.

I'm probably going to submit a GM ticket on the issue tomorrow. I'll update this comment if he/she gives me any info about the problem.

*ticket removed, seems these pools ARE tied to Algaefin pools. Fished the whole coast up then went back to the river and poof guppy pools are back

This fish Highland Guppy can be found in Loch Verrall in Twilight Highlands. You can find fish schools without doing quest in Twilight Highlands, and you can find Highland Guppy outside a schools of Highland Guppy. But % will be low to get Highland Guppy.

When you fish in the lake Loch Verral you will get Highland Guppy, Sharptooth, volatile water and striped lurker and some bad trash!

Confirmed:

You can catch this in the inlands open water, but at such a low drop rate that it really isn't worth the time.

The Algaefin Rockfish schools are connected to the Highland Guppy pools. If there are no Guppy pools available, clearing some Rockfish pools makes them respawn. It appears to be a 1:1 ratio, meaning that clearing one Rockfish pool will make one Guppy pool spawn.

The downside to the connection is that while you are clearing Rockfish pools, someone else can be clearing the Guppy pools just as fast as you are making them appear. Two fishers can work as a team to have one clear Rockfish pools while the other catches the Guppies, but this isn't very realistic. The more realistic solo strategy is to work off-hours to reduce the possibility of someone stealing your Guppy pools, or to clear many Rockfish pools in the hopes that there will be some Guppies left by the time you get there.

The pools are not connected as such, instead just think of them like an NPC - the more you kill the faster the respawn. Basically the more pools you fish to empty, the faster the new ones respawn. I think perhaps the nasty old random number generator is responsible for whether the pool you empty is replaced by what you want or not.

The markers on this map are completely correct, if pools aren't respawning up in Loch Verall, go down to the beach north of Dragonmaw Port and fish around there or around waterfalls directly east of Dragonmaw, then go back up to Loch. You'll surely fish lots of these.

The drop rate on Highland Guppy is DEPLORABLE. I get one fish per about 30 casts. (That's a 3.3% drop rate.) I fish out any and all pools/swarms I find in Twilight Highlands, in hopes that this will cause a Highland Guppy pool to spawn somewhere, but it never seems to work.

At Loch Verall, the last Highland Guppy I caught came on my 47th cast. :-( Blizz is fishing for those monthly fees to keep rolling in, and this is one place they just went too far.

If you are having some trouble finding them along the stream and large pool near BoT, there are spawns at the small lakes at Vermillion Redoubt.

Contrary to a previous comment, these pools definitely DO share a spawn with the algaefin rockfish pools. I counted 0 guppy pools in all of Twilight Highlands. I then fished out all of the algaefin rockfish pools in DragonMaw Port, and, presto, 5 twilight guppy pools had appeared.

It's a theory but, I think there is no schools after 4 A.M.

During my last night, I decided to go to fish some Guppys for Seafood Magnifique Feast.

-> 3.20 A.M, No prob. I've found many schools, and get 79 Guppys really fast.
-> 4.02 A.M, I've fished my last guppy in my school and .... after flying 30mins on the river and Loch Verall, no other school have respawned.

So, don't decide to fish it after 4 A.M !

Good (albeit competitive) farming on these up and down the Verrall River and Loch Verral in the Highland Guppy Schools . Be prepared to beat off Enslaved Waterspouts while equipped with a fishing pole around the Loch. This isn't all bad as they have a 14% drop rate on volatile water.

Also be prepared to also beat off fishers from opposing and even your own faction!

Schools in the Verrall River are in quite quite shallow water so you'll need a few casts to land them.

If you have a mining skill, there is plenty of Elementium and a few Pyrite veins along the river banks, it makes a profitable day's fishin'!.
