I found Stormvine to be more common than Aszhara's Veil around the ruins of Vashj'ir, and the other way around in most other areas.

Vashj'ir is a very nice place to farm herbs for Herbalism if you know where to go. I have constructed a route for this, which can be seen here. This route is heavily populated with Stormvine and Azshara's Veil.

For some Milling data:
250 Stormvine Milled = 50 mills.
Output:
117 Ashen Pigment
16 Burning Embers

some calculation makes that to
0.234 Blackfallow ink
PLUS
0.032 Inferno Ink for each single Stormvine.

From Wowheads' data you could calculate:
2.5/5/2 = 0.25 Blackfallow ink
plus
2*0.25/5/2 = 0.05 Inferno Ink for each single Stormvine, given that 1-3 or 2-3 means its equally distributed.

I milled 21 stacks (96 mills) this morning. Results:
202 Ashen Pigment (2.4/mill approximately)
20 Burning Embers (0.238/mill approximately)

The anecdotal milling reports above are inline with the measured data posted in the milling tab. Why debate about it in the comments? I'd stick with the measured amounts on the milling tab, because you're going to need to mill a lot more than 150 stacks to make any better conclusions here.

From the milling tab at the time of writing:

1-3 Ashen Pigment per milling from 92,001 millings, 100% drop
1-3 Burning Embers in 22,617 out of 92,001 millings, 25% drop

The measured data above shows that one stack of Stormvine (20), statistically, should yield: between 4 to 12 Ashen Pigment and 1 to 3 Burning Embers. Keep in mind though, that a 25% drop per milling means there's a one in three chance to get zero embers out of a stack and a one in 250 chance of getting 4 or more embers. Once you've milled three stacks you have a better than 97% chance to have 1-3 embers, it takes half as much Whiptail though to have a 99% chance, so price them accordingly (i.e., never value Burning Embers at more than the price of 30 Whiptail, since it would be a waste to pay more). Wowhead says embers sell for around 80g, and that seems fair to me in light of the math.

The problem is with the missing information on the distribution of the occurence of single or multiple drops. Wowhead is neither right nor wrong on the mean output of milling some herbs, as it does neither have data on nor make any assumptions on the actual number of output!

There is no information available that clears what the distribution of the number of Embers is and from wowheads data alone it is not possible to calculate that!
For those not familiar with statistics:

In the case that an ember drops, wowheads data does not say anything about how probable it is to get 1, 2 or 3 embers.
It could be that one in 1000 ember drops reveal 2 embers, or one in 2 drops could be it.

The conclusion Drolfeir makes about getting 4 or more embers is void, its just guessing the underlying distribution and taking some random number as a "percentage", I made the same mistake earlier, I thought the 25% would refer to a single drop (I guess he uses a poisson distribution from what he says). But applying the same principle to ashen pigments would result in only getting 1 ashen pigment (or infinite). Btw. if you use an poissondistribution that takes a constant chance on each drop, about 50 millings would already produce a statistically significant sample. From this, it is very clear, that the wowhead data is NOT to be interpreted as to get 25% burning embers per milling! That conclusion isnt't only void, its strictly wrong.

From my data and what I observed from about 10,000 millings by now, if ember drops, the chances for getting 2 embers is nearly as high as getting 1.
Probably wowhead will provide information on the actual mean milling (and enchanting etc) values.

btw. when I did above post, there were only about 200 millings in wowheads database. I only bought stormvine at that time, because wowheads data was incomplete and inconclusive. That was the primary target to do that post at that time. In comparison to that it was valuable information to me, as it saved me from miscalculating prices in the range of several thousand gold, so I wanted to share that information. That the database of wowhead is growing should be known to all...

PS: A little pointer on the side: You should think about the value of pigments. 50% of the value of stormvines, cinderbloom, heartblossom and 33% of whiptails, twilight jasmine lies within this source.

This herb can be found either at the tops of mountains or at the bottom of the ocean!

I've been playing WoW since Vanilla. Believe it or not ... I also have a doctorate in botany. I've always been impressed with Blizz' attention to detail with the ecology of the plants in the game. Just like in RL, many of Azeroth's plants can predictably found in specific "habitats". E.g. only in marshes, grasslands, mountains, on the edges of lakes or in the ocean. This is a very cool detail that is probably lost on many players.

Whoever was paying attention to these environmental details must have quit for Cata. I can promise you that no plants could grow at the tops of mountains and at the bottom of oceans. Sadness.

Some empirical milling data in case someone is interested:

100 stacks of Stormvine (400 mills) yielded:
504 Blackfallow Ink (1008 pigments)
51.5 Inferno Ink (103 embers)

That works out to a drop rate of 2.52 Ashen Pigments and 0.2575 Burning Embers per mill, right in line with Wowhead's 25% drop rate for Embers.

On a side note, strictly in terms of herb vs. ink costs this works out to roughly 60% profit on my server.

To find the distribution of multiple drops, mouse over the percentages.

Ashen Pigment
2: 50%
3: 50%
4: 0%

So, on average, wowhead uploaders got 2*0.5 + 3*0.5 + 4*0 = 2.5 Ashen Pigments per mill.

Burning Embers:
1: 24%
2: 0.6%
3: 0.6%

So, on average, wowhead uploaders got 1*0.24 + 2*0.006 + 3*0.006 = 0.27 Burning Embers per mill.
