220 haste after about 15seconds or so. It's basically a minor upgrade over electrifying wind. Uptime should be practically near 100% in most raid bosses. A minor upgrade though. Duration is also much longer than ToEW.

The difference is that this works better for restoration. You throw a fire dot and let it tick granting you haste with you heal. One application of flame shock gives you over 45 seconds of extra haste. As long as you reapply the dot before that runs out, you can keep it the whole fight.

Enhancement Shamans are probably not going to be looking into this as much as they'd want.
Looks like Electrifying wind (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=47666) will continue to be the BIS since the extra 20 haste will not be worth the dps loss from giving up a ES cd for a FS.

On my Ele shaman I have the EW totem and even on movement-based encounters i still have no trouble keeping up the 200 haste. The only problem i see is the time u will spend building up haste with the Shattered ice totem. You would need basically 15 seconds of a boss fights to build up enough haste to out"haste" the EW tot, that in the end is only 20 haste more. Despite being more reliable to never loose the stack,the 20 haste isnt gona make up for the time it takes to build up the stack. And even if it does prove to have a better dps boost in a long fight, there might be other frost emblem upgrades u need more.

I just picked up the totem and am impressed with the extra 200+ haste. I actually like it for resto very much - i play arena pvp a bit and already have a macro for riptide/flame shock. Since i cast FS all the time anyways it's just an added bonus. Works great for ele too!
I also have more than enough sp and crit on my shaman - the haste is great!

****What you all don't realize is once the totem gets to 5 stacks you need not build the haste back up, but only cast FS again it keeps the 5 stacks.

****Make a macro where FS hits your target's target - that way you don't even have to change target while healing during a boss fight.

As an Elemental Shaman I see no reason why this can't be used in the other two specs.
I will definately be using it for Restoration as I tend to apply flameshocks to fights anyway, and as for Enhancement you always have flameshock up.

Obviously it's not better then the talent respective totem, but it's completely viable.
Having to only spend 30 emblems on a totem, rather then 90 means I can save up for other items.

For anyone who's lazy to do the maths this applies "6" times in one flame shock with a default duration of 18 seconds, obviously the totem stacks 5 times only, but it will be refreshed to 30 seconds at the end.

This doesn't give you the haste value on the first initial damage of flameshock.

I do however suggest you don't buy this as a first purchase, since it's not the greatest upgrade from the Triumph Elemental totem.

I've been testing this, Using the 2piece tier 9 elemental bonus ( Helm + Chest) As it nets me 72 hit and both pieces are sitting at a decent amount of haste, It's quite easy to start out the fight by throwing a flame shock at the boss / adds or something so it gets up very fast, and it's easily noticeable when to cast another flame shock (At about 6-8 sec left on the buff) Considering the mp5 you would sit at, at this gear level the flame shocks mana cost hardly matters, I think it's an awesome totem to use as restoration due to the 220 haste which you won't find on any other totem, And that you are contributing with about 200-300k damage a fight almost. I'm defo sticking with this

This totem is quite possibly BiS for all forms of shamans in PvE, seeing as the 264 restoration totem requires you to use riptide for more often than is practical, the Totem of Electrifying wind is not as consistent as this, and the totem is on par with the enhancement totem, seeing as enhancement shamans value haste greatly and our strongest rotation involves keeping flame shock on the boss.

Also, while it may not be a day 1 purchase for Restoration or Elemental shamans, it definitely is for enhancement shamans (those that value haste), seeing as we don't use Lava Lash nearly as often due to the new Fire Nova spell.

A great totem all around though, for any spec, unless they decide to nerf the duration, in which case we may take a closer look at our alternate totems.

A little bit of testing in ICC showed this totem to be very easy to keep up as a resto shaman. The hardest fight to keep it active (among the first 6) was the gunship, but all the others were a breeze. The lack of any hit rating was not a problem for me, since the 30 second duration of the buff allows me to miss a flame shock (and potentially 2 or 3 in a row) and still not have the stacks fall off before another flameshock tick resets the duration.

Still, initial reports on the 4 set t10 bonus for resto shamans leads me to believe that it is in my best interest to get 4 pieces of t10 before I get this totem. But after I have 4 pieces of t10, I plan on getting this totem instead of the resto one.

If you have at least 30 emblems of frost, but not 60 or 95 (depending on what piece you are saving up for), then I highly recommend that you get this totem, and that you exchange it back within 2 hours of receiving it. Since it does not need to be gemmed or enchanted, its very easy to use this totem temporarily and trade it back after a wipe to reset the 2 hour duration on tradebacks.

I'm not sure how great the ele set bonuses are (but I assume they are good), and I know the enh 4 set bonus is absolutely ridiculous, so I think the awesomeness of those set bonuses will outweigh the very slight upgrade this is over the 245 item level totems for those specs.

SunkenColony is wrong about this being a day 1 purchase for enhance shamans - the 20% AP proc on the set bonus for enhance shamans means that they need to work towards the set bonus.

I'd recommend not getting this totem permanently until you have 4 pieces of t10 for all 3 specs of shamans. But I do recommend this over the other totem options for all 3 specs of shaman.

As for SunkenColony claiming that the 264 totem requires Resto shamans to use Riptide more than is practical, he is flat out wrong. Resto Shamans should use Riptide as soon as its cooldown is finished, regardless of whether or not they have this totem. Even before you have 2 pieces of t10, having more targets that you can bounce a buffed chain heal off of is quite worth using Riptide. And once you have 2 pieces of t10, the haste you get for your next spell makes Riptide very useful.

Not quite sure what to think of this totem for Resto...
I bought it today and played around with it a bit on dummies and in a heroic.
The 220 haste from it is definitely sexy, but maintaining it could be difficult. I've yet to try it in a raid, but I intend to do so at first given opportunity.
Things to consider about this totem:
- The mana cost, Flame Shock costs ~ 750 mana for me, and since Haste only makes you consume mana more rapidly, you might start having issues. I'd consider this the least worrying.
- Range, in order to use Flame Shock, you need to be within range of the boss. Not so much to worry about on most bosses in ICC, only bosses I can think of are Gunship Battle, Deathbringer and Valithria. Blood Prince Council might be tricky...
- Hit, this is the most worrying in my opinion. It'll take 3-4 seconds from you cast Flame Shock to you get the buff. Casting Flame Shock when the buff has few seconds less can result in the buff falling off if you miss, but casting Flame Shock too early can also result in wasting global cooldowns and mana.

For raids, I'll be using this macro:

#showtooltip Flame Shock
/cast Flame Shock; Flame Shock

This will cast Flame Shock on your focus if you have a focus, and on your current target if you do not have a focus.

Just my two cents.

If your flame shock is reflected back onto you, the DoT ticking on you can still proc the Totem.

i've found this macro to make using this totem for enhancement very easy.

While this totem does come off as sexy for Resto shams, there are much better things to spend frost badges on if haste is a concern. In my humble opinion, obtaining 4 pieces of T10 and the ICC crafted items outweigh the benefits of this totem. After you obtain all those items, if you still feel the need for more haste, you may have an unhealthy obsession ;-)
