As of this post the pet is somewhat disappointing. It's a simple reskin of the mana wyrmling you can buy in Netherstorm for 40g. The skin color is slightly darker and it flies a bit higher than it's netherstorm twin, but no special effects such as shimmering have been added.

It summons differently, at least. Instead of the usual *click* noise you gesture and make an arcane explosion noise. It is a little disappointing that it doesn't do a special effect like the other tournament pets. Maybe it'll come in a later PTR build.

A post (on 24-July 2009) from Blizzard poster Zarhym stated:

You are right that it is a recolor first and foremost. The one you buy in Outlands is greenish and not what the wyrmlings in the blood elf starting area look like. The wrymling available at the tournament is much more in line with the ones found in the blood elf starting area. This is just sort of a chance to give players access to that wyrmling.

A couple of minor differences between the outland wyrmling and the Shimmering Wyrmling from the Argent Crusade:

The Shimmering Wyrmling flies higher (around shoulder height instead of knee height).
It's summoned via a pretty cool Arcane spell cast to give it more of a high elf/blood elf sort of feel, given the fact it's summoned via magic rather than released from a cage.
It has a special idle animation.

Of course these are all small differences, but again, we wanted to give players a chance of snatching up the wyrmling from the blood elf areas.

This pet can be bought for 40 https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=44990 from Vasarin Redmorn, who is right next to the Sunreavers daily quest givers in the Horde Argent Tournament tent.

As the tooltip says, it requires Exalted status with the Sunreavers.

Although the two Wyrmlings are on different pages, the summoning spell is identical.
So if you have any comments or screenshots to leave, please do it on the spell page.

I'd love to know, does the reputation requirement only apply to purchasing the pet, or do you need to be exalted at the sunreavers to learn the spell as well? I'd like to buy it for a level 1 Blood Elf alt, just want to know if it's worth it.

*edit* I bought the wyrmling, sent it to my alt, and I couldn't learn it. You need to be exalted at the Sunreavers to learn this pet, not just to buy it.

This pet does not get counted or even listed in the Companion tab in your character profile here on Wowhead (either faction's pet).

I just got this out of a Satchel of Exotic Mysteries on alliance. None on my realm seen no clue what to sell it for.
