I would like to note that you CANNOT stack several glyphs of the same type to increase the effect. Upon attempting to inscribe a duplicate Glyph at the Lexicon of Power you recieve the message:

"That Glyph is already inscribed in your spellbook."

So to clarify:Do we need to have 40 runic power to cast it and then it will refund 20,or can we cast it with 20 and just keep on casting?

As unholy/frost, I use RP for frost strike, so the only time I use death coil is when lichborne self-healing or healing my ghoul. This effectively halves the cost of death coil for me, AND it's a minor! can I get an amen?

Don't understand the down rating of this comment when the people down rating it didn't even test it.

The problem isn't whether he was right or not, but that the reasoning was wrong. There are combinations of items and talents in WoW that will allow an ability to cost nothing, and still provide a refund of mana (or whatever) that was never actually spent. If I say that "2 + 2 = purple, so the sky must be blue", I'm wrong regardless of whether the sky is actually blue or not.

While it may be the case that this glyph will not refund any RP if it was free for you to cast, it is both wrong and misleading to state that this is universally true for all refund mechanics.

This glyph isn't working as of October 13, 2010 (first day with 4.0.1).

I hope they'll fix it soon, since Lichborne became a filler point for 2h Frost DKs - not to mention the massive buff the healing aspect of Death Coil recieved.

Edit : You won't gain any RP when you use Death Coil to overheal yourself.

Apparently it doesn't refund runic power if you overheal yourself slightly.

You need the correct amount of RP to cast it , and if it's used as a heal, you will get the RP back. (40 base, 34 with RC talent.) it will then refund you 20 RP. It does not work with Sudden Doom, as it does not cost you any RP to cast it.

It's an ungodly good glyph in PvP, soon to be nerfed. At any rate, here is a very useful macro.. replace the word player with your character's name. It will cast Lichborne and heal yourself, without changing your target.

/cast !Lichborne;
/cast Death Coil

meh, it was fun while it lasted, but this glyph has completely lost it's value 100%.

the whole point of it was to regain RP when using DC to heal ourselves (lol who heals their ghouls with DC?) I agree that this was perhaps too OP on 1 vs 1 because if unholy, and with a full RP bar, you could probably top yourself up with a simple macro.

is not like other classes can't top themselves up as well (cough*layofhands*cough).

I agree with what others said, if they didn't liked the glyph they should had just removed it. and they may as well do so, as this change makes it about as usefull as the sentry totems the shamans used to have.

if anything, to reduce the OPness of this glyph they could had gone with "refunds 20 RP when using DC to heal your ghoul, and 10 RP when used to heal yourself" route.

I don't know why is everyone saying this glyph is useless, have you all forget we can easy farm 5 charges of Shadow Infusion by using DC on ghoul? and it just costs only 75 RP

It could be useful for keeping Shadow Infusion up between trash packs or in an air/tunnel phase type fight, though, you usually have something to throw a Death Coil at, anyway.

Note for unholy DKs who want to stack Shadow Infusions on their ghoul. The ghoul MUST be damaged for the glyph to work. This won't be an issue for raids such as Firelands where there are nice convenient pools of lava, but for raids such as Dragon Soul it will be a bit problematic.

This glyph currently works on other allied death knights that use Lichborne, despite what the text says. This makes the glyph really powerful for you and your death knight friend.
