Depending on proc chance this is going to be either top damage dealing trinket up to next content patch or further, or worthless peace of junk, but haste is still pretty nice..

I wonder if dot ticks count as a damage dealing or casts only. If they do, this is going to be overpowered for shadowpriests and warlocks.

45 sec internal cooldown

Assuming 50 seconds between procs this averages at 850 dmg / 50 sec that is 850/50 = 17dps (no crit)

Assuming 30% crit we get:
Base Dmg + 30% chance to do 150% dmg
(850) + (850 * 0.5 * 0.3) = 977.5 dmg

977.5 dmg / 50 sec = 19.55 dps

Still assuming 30% crit we get:
Base Dmg + 30% chance to do 200% dmg
(850) + (850 * 0.3) = 1,105 dmg

Do note that it says "Each time you deal damage" instead of Timbal's "Each time one of your spells deals periodic damage", so it is not just for DoT casters anymore.

Depending on the internal CD, it's either great or just good as a passive haste trinket.

This trinket would add %2.54 haste @ level 80.

This would seem to be an excellent choice for any MM/SV Hunter looking to bring Stead Shot to the 1.5 cast time. When further testing on the internal cooldown is available, I will decide on how much I want this.

Confirmed, the Internal Cooldown of this trinket is 45 sec. The damage can be crit and works with dots too, I made 1 normal hit of 1044 and another crit of 1514.

Honestly I'm so incredibly disappointed with this trinket. I was hoping it would be affected by spellpower, but unfortunately it definitely is not. I replaced https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=37660 with this, and my DPS over a 5 minute period did not change.

This needs to be buffed for how difficult it is to make.

Does anyone know how this work with AoE? Most particular how this would work for a Paladin? Does it proc off of consecration, shield spikes, holy shield, etc or does it only proc off of single targeted damage such as melee attacks and most spells? Also if it does proc off of damage done by a shield spike would it proc on the mob you just did damage to via shield spike or your current target?

I'm copying this off of the worldofwarcraft.com forums and requesting that people add their names to the list. This trink is vastly underpowered and really needs a re-tuning! here are the facts.

Recently, for the sake of discovering the internal cooldown for the rest of the community, i decided to go ahead and turn in my undeath deck to receive the death card for testing, and hopefully, good usage purposes in raiding.

I regret that decision terribly now.

Let us do a quick overview of similar trinkets to the Darkmoon Card: Death.

That is the Death card. 85 haste, and a 744-956 damage proc component that suggests a faster cooldown.

The Bandit's Insignia. 190 Attack Power, and proc of 1504-2256 damage. 45 second internal cooldown. An expected length for such a large proc.

The Vestige of Haldor. 65 Haste Rating, and proc of 1024-1536 damage. 45 second internal cooldown.

Now, considering the VoH is a blue, a fair amount of mediocrity can be expected out of it.

But, when one considers the Darkmoon Card: Death, a trinket that requires a vast amount of resources, gold, or farming in order to acquire, one expects a trinket well superior to most of what is currently available at this content level.

Except....it has, also, a 45 second cooldown.

Not only does this incredibly nerf the potential usefulness of the trinket, it makes only scarcely better than a level 78 blue normal dungeon trinket, which can be acquired with, at most an average of 5-6 hours of running utgarde pinnacle on NORMAL.

Compare to the Darkmoon Card: Death trinket, which requires one of the following:

1. A large sum of gold in the range of 4000-6000g, or more, in order to buy the deck off of the Auction House.

2. An even larger sum of gold to buy the herbs and eternal lifes to have an inscriptionist make the cards, hoping against a luck-based system of a random set of 32 cards, hoping that you get only the cards you need.

3. An extremely large amount of time and effort in order to farm the herbs and eternal lifes in order to make the random cards in the hopes of acquiring the trinkets that you want.

Combine these requirements with the need to wait until the darkmoon faire to even receive your prize, and you have an expectation of a trinket that should perform at least adequately in a raid setting, and not beaten out by a level 78 dungeon trinket.

Please, Blizzard. This is an outrage. Adjust the Darkmoon Card: Death internal cooldown to make it so that it is competitive with the other raid-level trinkets available to us at 80.

Unfortunately Blessings deck WAS really good for a long time, and the melee dps versions of greatness are also very good! Some decks just aren't as good and this set and chaos really fail to perform. Even Prisms is pretty good.

There are currently 4 decks that you can get from the Darkmoon Faire for level 80's.
Darkmoon Card: Berserker!
Darkmoon Card: Illusion
Darkmoon Card: Death
The fourth card has 4 different versions, they have the same proc ability but the stat bonus is different:
Darkmoon Card; Greatness (90 Agi)
Darkmoon Card: Greatness (90 Str)
Darkmoon Card: Greatness (90 Spi)
Darkmoon Card: Greatness (90 Int)

I have done 560s with 12 procs. so it is around 46s per procs. Therefore it is quite sure that the 45s CD is there. 2 out of 12 are crit with avg 1137 shadow dmg.

Damage from trinket is suck overall, but the crit rate is yummy.

I waited for a month for a complete deck to show-up in AH. Spent lots of G and was very disappointed. The 45s CD makes this a poor replacement for Mark of the War Prisoner https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=37873 At least with the Mark you can macro it in and start every encounter with a massive jolt to SP. My Imp hits for as much as this thing does. A extra shot from the Imp every 50 sec or so? Definitely not worth the loss of DPS. By loss, I mean that DPS dropped by 300 on shoter lived Mobs and by a little less on Bosses when I made the replacement! This needs to have 10s CD to be of any practical use and lower if it's going to be a 25 man trinket.

I've already got the Sundial and I think I'll try farming the Forge Ember https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=37660 .

All that said, I really am asking for advice on the best trinket for a Destruction Lock to complement the Sundial?

As a shadow priest, this card is way undervalued. Here are the stats for a partial raid of Naxx (one wing).

If you expand out the WWS, this is really what you have:
# non-crits: 33 -- Ave non-crit: 1423 -- max non-crit: 2483
# crits: 20 -- ave crit: 2212 -- max crit: 4007
miss rate: 3.6%

But that includes a few Thaddius attempts that skew the damage. Your numbers if you take out Thaddius are:
# non-crits: 24 -- Ave non-crit: 1184 -- max non-crit: 1364
# crits: 14 -- ave crit: 1751 -- max crit: 2050
miss rate: 2.6%

My guess is that Shadow Focus does not factor into this, so if you are just barely hit capped, you lose 3% hit. Overall with your non-Thaddius data, you averaged out 1393 dmg per proc, which is about a 30 DPS increase. Could you tell me what your +Spell Power was?

Given DK DW is dead as of 3.0.1 unless something drastic changes, this is trash for DK. The passive crit is nice, but no different than the Mirror. And 1k AP over 10 secs, added to your dmg you do during those 10 sec is greater than the dmg this card does.

I'm currently trying to figure out which is the better item to use for my RET Pally. Already having the Greatness Card for one, I'm trying to find another epic trinket. currently comparing it with https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=40684 the Mirror of truth, which, by my math (which is probably wrong) is a bonus of 71 DMG, I'm assuming that would be higher with a critical hit as well. Is the Darkmoon Card: Death the best choice? Looked at the last post the dmg has gone up too for 3.1!

I critted 4,2k with this trinket on dummy in PTR...
Somehow it is affected by stats I think because I generally hit higher with the trinket then the tooltip.

confirmed, on the PTR this trinket is hitting for 2300 average hit and 4500 average crit. It also looks like the internal CD has been lowered to 30 sec. In a 1:30 test on a dummy I got 3 procs. This trinket accounted for 2.2% of my dps in testing. If it stays this way then this trinket is going to become very coveted.

Edit: It does look like it is still 45 seconds after all. I wasn't taking into account the card procing on the first swing so it does look like it's still 45 second CD. But, it's still hitting HUGE which makes this a very nice trinket if it stays this way.

Well. I hope it stays the way it is on the PTR because I just got it on live and would have rather kept my Chuchu's Tiny Box of Horrors instead.

I play an unholy DK, pretty well geared, and usually have a 3200+ sustained DPS overall at the end of a Naxx full clear. So I was sitting there doing my rotation on the three level 80 test dummies with this new trinket. I did over 1 million damage in the 5 minute test I did on the dummies and the trinket only procced 4 times for a total of 10.2k which amounted to about 34.83 DPS of my 3686 DPS at the end of the 5 minutes.

I had a proc rate of once every 1m13s which is far from what other people have reported. Especially when I caused damage 2040 times. My Mirror of Truth procced 4 times as well.

If it isn't changed in the PTR, I'd have to say that you should save your time and money and just go with pretty much anything else.

This would make it a semi big choice for burst pvp.

This trinket is best utilized by a Shadow Priest. If you are not an SP then other trinkets are better. Here is why.
When a SP is in shadow form, the amount of damage done by SW:Pain, Devouring Plague and Vampiric Touch are increase by the same percentage of your crit rate. So not only are all your damage spells receiving the extra +1.85% chance to crit but all your non-crit spell from SW:P, DP and VT are receiving a generic 1.85% damage bonus as well. This is huge. Also when it does proc the extra shadow damage adds to the uesfull effects of Vampiric Touch and Vampiric Embrace. If you are not a Shadow Priest then there are better trinkets for you. If you are a Shadow Priest then this trinket is awesome.

with my current stats as a ret pally, 4k ap, 30 crit, it adds about 97 dps.
4.46 dps per 10 crit = 37 dps
2300 base and 4500 crit with 20% (documented average on ptr) = 60

base stats + proc = 97dps

for me that puts this almost on par with mirror of truth, which i'm currently using. only upgraded by mirror, fury of 5 flights, and greatness. Not bad.

I skimmed trough the posts and only saw something similar (but outdated). Anyone know if shadow priest talents and abilities affect this? For example, does Shadow Weaving increase it's dmg? If so, it's a great pre-raiding/entry level raiding trinket for shadow priests. Considering it's 300g on my server I'm tempted to buy one for my spriest alt.

Been using this trinket for some time now, might be worth noting that it can proc off the mount attacks when doing the Argent Tournament quests. Not massive damage, but sometimes can make the champions or commanders just a little bit easier.

Can this card, and the Darkmoon Card: Greatness, be equipped together and have each still function independently? That is, can you equip both, and they don't share the cooldown?

I have the Greatness, and would like to try this one with it (Rawr says this one's even higher than Greatness for my feral kitty now).

Edit 5/09/09 : Ok, I have this Darkmoon Card: Death, Darkmoon Card: Greatness, and Mirror of Truth (as well as other trinkets). I play tested these three in combination. DMC:D did proc while Mirror of Truth was active, so they get along, clearly they don't share a 45 second cooldown. Same with DMC:D and DMC:G together! They obviously do not share their 45 second cooldown, I had one proc right on top of another. Good news.

Well it does effect with shadow weave or whatever its called for sp. i do about with full pvp gear:

1900 sp
pvp hit cat

about 2200 non hit
with shadow weave about 2,4 -2,8

crits for about 3200
with shadow weave around 3500.

So its not much but it does have some effect. With my holy/disc spec i got about the same hits as with shadow. basicly not much of a difference.

Used it today in raiding and it gave me a bit of burst about 2/3% more dps. Procced about 100 times on a full nax encounter with 300k dmg done from it.

its a nice to have trinket specially for pvp situations. its just a upgraded version of mgt ( 70 one ).

Good trinket to have actually.

bad thing is, when i play arena disc/holy spec and face a hunter that got a pet that hits my reflect shield. it seems to proc on the pet. its not a control able proc. it does proc on basicly every dmg done ability. if its 1 dmg or 10k.

Your diseases do count as DoT's and you're using instant attacks with just about every single GCD, so yes. It is a decent trinket for a Death Knight considering how cheaply one can be aquired. It will proc very fast after the Hidden CD has reset.

And, as far as I know, it also takes into account the 100% spell critical damage you get as a Death Knight.

All in all, good trinket to have until you can get your hands on the better ones like DMC: Greatness, Bandit's Insignia, Grim Toll, Fury of the Five Flights, Mjolnir Runestone and what have you.

very nice trinket for pvp, i use (as a combat rogue) this trinket and the Medallion of the Alliance https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=42123 and for pve i use Mirror of Truth https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=40684 and Grim Toll https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=40256. 45 sec. is not that bad, its shorter than my killing spree and in pvp i usally dont jump into a fight unless that is up. Before this trinket i always left a horde with 2-3k health left after my killing spree, with this trinket i can easily take mages, locks, druids, and most shamans in one killing spree. great trinket save up for it pvp rogues :)

It is merely an item, not the best trinket you can get.
Does it make up for it's proc? does it have to?.. well that depends on it's use, it's proably very useful in PvP situations, and likely not your first pick if you're aim is PvE, the crit rating isn't anything to brag about imho but it is nice.

The proc is deadly in arena.
It's not like you'll be doing yogg saron.. and he blinds you, vanishes, sprints into a corner to get his health back up by eating a roasted chicken.. but oh no! your trinket procs on him off one of your bleed/dots and poor yogg bites the dust.. that isn't a likely scenario, however that could happen in the arena if you're opponent wasn't an old god.

I'm going to find out if the proc is affected by Black Ice and Blood Presence.
Seeing as it's shadow damage and... well damage, it should be affected.

Some info on Blood Presences' effect on the proc:
I tested the proc with no talents and just blood presence alone, I got several non-crits around 2000-2500 damage.
criticals around 3000-3500.

With Black Ice talent and Blood Presence:
Several hits doing 2300-2800.
got one crit doing 3800 damage.

With Desecration, Black Ice and Blood presence.
Several hits ranging from 2350-2858 dmg
Critical for 4358

With Desecration, Black Ice, Blood Presence and Bone shield.
hits from 2400-2988
got a 4425 critical.

With Desecration, Black Ice, Blood Presence, Bone Shield and Ebon Plague.
Hits from 2900-3413.
5411 critical.

The proc gains nothing from Impurity or Rage of Rivendare it seems.
There is no doubt that this trinket is overpowered, anyone that thinks otherwise needs to realize that you can crit 6K-9K on a scourge strike, probably up to 6K on this trinket, and 4-5K on mounted rocket tinkerer things for your gloves (if you're an engineer)

We're talking about some serious burst if you utilize this procc to its absolute, if you can predict the proc on this, you can silence a healer in time for this to proc, land 2-3 scourge strikes, fire your glove mounted rockets and a bunch of death coils, if that doesn't kill then I don't know what does.

The most insane thing about this trinket is that I got it for 840 gold on Grim Batol-Horde.
Sure I had to wait a whole week to get it, but god damn.. this is like windfury procs... no wait... this is like playing a level 60 paladin proccing reckoning, and having Seal of Command proc on each hit, and then having your Halberd of Smiting proc and crit aswell and getting a Windfury proc somewhere in the middle of all that.

The damage from this trinket can get a little ridiculous for a Death Knight with Black Ice using the Cinderglacier enchant. What's great is that the trinket is affected by a Cinderglacier proc, but it doesn't consume it. This trinket can get up to 3.3k non-crits with Cinderglacier proc'd.

1. Form a 5v5 Arena Team with 3 Melee
2. Have all Melee equip this and Bandit's Insignia
3. All open on one target
4. Enjoy your 5v4 Arena bracket.

This will almost ALWAYS proc on your first attack when the CD is up. As will Bandits. When you open and hit the same target your wind up with 3 attacks + 6 procs from this setup, almost guaranteeing you'll knock out that first player. It's cheap and stupid, and it will get fixed eventually. But enjoy it now while you can :)

To equip it I will be loosing my Darkmoon Card: Illusion, and with it 100 SP. So my question is, am I going to be gaining enough dps from the extra crit and shadow dmg to compensate for what I will be loosing in SP?
Does my SP affect the amount of shadow dmg? If so, and as my SP will still be around 2300 in Boomkin form, I am assuming the shadow dmg will be doing around 2.5k normal hit and 5k crit hit average. Not massive on a 45 sec loop, but a welcome bonus. My crit is just over 25%, and this would tip it to nearly 27% - currently, with farie fire and moonfire active, when eclipse procs on wrath crit, Starfire crits an average 50% of the time for 10k - 12k dmg. (I have been lucky and hit 5 consecutive 10k+ hits before! say 52.5k over 15 secs = 3.5k dps) Obviously any extra crit is welcome but Im just not sure that is enough to warrant loosing 100 SP...

I would appreciate any advice from anyone who has tried Darkmoon Card: Death on a Boomkin before - I would rather sell the trinket if its not going to be worth it or the difference is neglegible.

Also - Darkmoon Card: Greatness doesnt cut it with me either...
Given that when it procs a Boomkin would recieve 390 intell extra total for the card, the effect on SP is an increase of 46.8 sp for 15 seconds, with some extra mana... again not getting close to 100 SP from Darkmoon Card: Illusion...

Ok I've had this trinket on my death knight for about 2 weeks now and heres what i've observed about the trinket:

It can proc off AoE's like Death and decay, unholy blight, blizzard etc.

It can proc off damage over times, like diseases, bleeds etc.

The proc CAN crit, and i think that the crit damage is increased by gear.

So from what i've learned, this trinket is bloody fantastic for nearly everything, AoE farming, raiding, whatever, this trinket is awesome.

Bought the Deck for My DK. During 2 wings of Naxx 25, the trinket went off 53 times and accounted overall for 2.6% of my dps. I did not keep track of how many times it critted but I can update this post about it later. Price wise I must have been lucky, bought it for 400g whereas now it is auctioned for ~1000-1500g for some reason.

It has been confirmed that the internal CD is 45 seconds. Meaning that once it procs, it will not have the chance to proc again for another 45 seconds. However, it has a 35% chance to proc (which is really high since the 35% is on dots/attacks/abilities). Therefore, you can rely on it to proc almost immediately every 45 seconds if you are dpsing during that time. WotLK in its current state is about burst, so you can use this knowledge to line this card proc up with another damage ability, therefore, maximizing your burst instead of having this proc, and using something else 10-20 seconds later.

One of the best items that go with this IMO is the
Hand Mounted Pyro Rocket

It has a 45 second CD as well, so not only can you use this in your opener (for whatever class not just rogues) for a neat ~3k burst, you can track the internal CD with the Pyro Rocket so u know when its coming up again and set your CDs accordingly. Using this every time its up will also mean the DMCard will proc around that time so its a ~3k extra damage on demand every 45 seconds! Especially useful if you are you in a double DPS because you need all the damage up front instead of duration spells like

Mirror of Truth

because chances are you will be unable to dps during the whole duration and will not take advantage of those types of trinkets.

Sorry if its been mentioned before. I don't think it has though.

As for prices-The average price for this is around ~1000-1200 although prices may vary. On my server they tend to begin at around ~1800-2000 and then flatten around 1600 as the undercutters put them on the market. However it is not uncommon for it to go at around 800, as other posters have verified. Don't go for it if its selling at some ridiculous price like 2500, or even 3000. Just be patient and wait for that nice 1000.

Its about time they stop buffing this trinket as its the most overpowered item available for pvp at the moment and gives a clear advantage to DKs over other classes. The budget has been allocated to crit, the cd may be reduced, the dmg increased...if this what awaits in 3.2, I would like to see also a stat buff and cd reduction on the Greatness trinket so that this becomes worthless again

As of 3.2 patch this is current information:

You gain 10% damage from this proc from 5 stacks of shadow weaving (increases shadow damage, not shadow spell dmg)

You gain another 15% damage from this proc when in shadowform (flat 15% shadow damage increase).

Biggest crit I've seen so far was 5107.

In closing, it's a great trinket to use if you need another 1.85% crit on a shadow priest.

You could have done it a million times, but that doesn't change the fact it's a 45 second internal cooldown.

Internal means you dont see it, as its not a "click to use" trinket, but the proc can only happen once every 45 seconds....

Many people are stating that the Proc rate is 35%, but the actual spell effect https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=57352 states that its Proc rate is 15%.
Am i to assume then that this figure is correct?
Also, with this supposed lower Proc Rate, is the ICD still taken to be 45secs?

I was on SotA fighting a priest from maximum 'Blind' range. I hit blind, first the trinket proced and did it's damage, then the blind effect took over and the target was blind. Pretty sweet imo. xD

The value of this trinket in PvP cannot be understated, especially for plate DPS. Since Warriors, Rogues, Paladins and DK's all proc DOT's and since this can proc from DOT damage (and can crit) it represents incredible burst opportunity. A 3-4k crit (and it's shadow damage, so armor doesn't diminish it), especially an unexpected one, can really shake things up in a close arena fight. Imagine a situation in which a character runs off to heal while a seemingly unimportant DOT continues to tick on him. Suddenly BAM he takes 4k damage and dies instantly. This happens more than you'd think.

I'd also like to point out that this trinket is a very very nice starting trinket for PvE DPS when combined with Mirror of Truth.

After i beat my friend in duel using only feral wolves i discovered something brilliant about this trinket.

It can proc on pet-attacks.

I didn't do nothing myself in that duel, and the damn wolves procced my trinket :P

patch 3.3 and this is still a hot item for pvp, though only certain classes will keep this beyond current trinkets available

so far, the top 3 that seem to buff its damage the most from their talent spec are unholy dks, shadow priests and affliction warlocks, the obvious 3 for obvious reasons, probably have to say shadow priests being the highest bonus shadow damage and spell crit rates of the 3 (easily more than 50% more shadow damage from talents/shadowform, and crit is a much more attractive stats for them than raw spell power), unholy dk's are pretty close as long they are in blood presence

its procs like clockwork, almost always immediately and every 45sec... it seems to work off spell crit however which is definitely noticable on my dk since there is about a 15% difference in my melee and spell crit, and doing 50% more damage on crits (regardless of talents like ruin or the dk runic focus, though maybe affected by the 3% damage crit meta)

as for the other classes that may get better procs than what it says on the tool tip would be mages, elemental shamans and moonkins due to high spell crit rates (but not as big of damage), and the last being hunger for blood rogues (raw damage increasing abilities)

as said the other main thing this is still taken for is pvp, it gives a nice sudden burst which some find better than raw power due to pvp not being constant damage, time when not attacking, off the target, doing cc, getting cc, etc... some would say its much more reliable damage than a stat boost proc would be

other classes may find this lackluster now compared to whats out there, bandit's insignia is actually beter for melee (just too bad no one runs naxx25 anymore) and there is also a trinket called the Reign of the death/unliving that is a much better version of this which can happen much more frequently (if anyone remembers The Lightning Capacitor, its version 2.0 of that)

On my hunter, I've seen this proc off of Serpent Sting... nice little damage boost during fights that stun/silence the group. I have seen this crit up to 4k, and it does seem to always crit when it does hit (2800-3500). Combine this the the T9 2 piece bonus (1k-1,2k crits w/ sting)... it's pretty cool.

This trinket has lasted me a long long time, definitely worth the gold, I'd recommend it. The 245 emblem trinkets (as well as a bunch of others) are disappointing for hunters imho.

Worth getting as a new 80 DPS.
When your gear gets better, obviously drop it as the ICD lets it down but keep it for PvP where the "cheap" really comes in handy.

After looking at my Recount logs I wasn't able to switch this low-level epic. Despite of being said it procs for 25 DPS it's actually about 80 DPS for me. + crit. Yummy!

For anyone who has the idea it sells for 25k in march of '10, it doesn't. Right now it seems to be going anywhere from 300-to 1200 (give or take) I don't think it ever sold for 25 grand/gold. I got one for an alt that needs some attention for 299 by bidding and waiting. I think the buyout was around 600.

Compare to the Darkmoon Card: Death trinket, which requires one of the following:

1. A large sum of gold in the range of 4000-6000g, or more, in order to buy the deck off of the Auction House.

2. An even larger sum of gold to buy the herbs and eternal lifes to have an inscriptionist make the cards, hoping against a luck-based system of a random set of 32 cards, hoping that you get only the cards you need.

3. An extremely large amount of time and effort in order to farm the herbs and eternal lifes in order to make the random cards in the hopes of acquiring the trinkets that you want.

I got one of these for my priests shadow spec the other day to test it and as a predominantly solo player I love it, it is brilliant for dailies like blood of the chosen where you have to kill a lot of mobs as it finishes them off quick. You won't notice the internal cooldown as you go around wasting stuff.

It seems good for pvp too as I was scrapping with some horde attackers in elwynn forrest earlier and it can suddenly take a sizable chunk of someones health unexpectedly especially if it crits, its good for getting people who try to run from you or get out of your line of sight since it procs from damage over time also. Not to mention the confusion it may cause with players thinking you have hit them with 2 shadow word deaths in a row since the sprite and sound are the same.

It does seem to scale up with shadow damage too like others have said as I get new critline records with it when I upgrade a piece of gear.

just bought this in AH as a destro lock that has been unsuccessful at getting good trinket drops in instances (rocking abyssal rune and another i200 trinket before, cant remember what). paid about 700g for it, then ran pit of sauron immediately after equip. went from about average dps to top of the party as far as dps and total damage goes. and extra 2k dps/min goes a long way, especially with mobs and bosses. totally worth the price for those mid-lvl 80 PvE locks that need a little dps boost! and i cant wait to see what it does for me in PvP ;)

In-game tooltip now reads:

"Each time you deal damage, you have a chance to do an additional 2500 Shadow damage."

Seems like it has been buffed in 4.0

EDIT:

Today I've checked the item again, and now it says "...an additional 2000 Shadow damage."
And I discovered this item scales with your +% shadow damage from your masteries:

- When in destro spec (+0% shadow dmg), the trinket does 2000 dmg.
- When in demo spec (+15% shadow dmg), the trinket does 2300 dmg.
- When in aff spec (+25% shadow dmg), the trinket does 2500 dmg.

So it's even more worth it if you are an affliction warlock or a shadow priest !

Assembled mine for ≈ 1% of the cost of the nobles deck , i.e. ≈ 70g vs 7k. As previously stated is great for dailies & world quests etc. IMO the fact its proc is straight damage makes the actual output far more reliable in all sorts of content vs 'increase whatever rating by x for 10/15/20s' procs which are liable to fire at unideal times where you can't make the most out of it, I find that far less true with this trink.. Also procs off DoT ticks.. Also the proc can crit :)
