You get these tokens from new JC-dailys.

I'm disappointed in the new 3 gem limitations on these. The jewelcrafer only gems are only 7 stats over the normal epic gems, so you effectively get an extra 21 stat points. Blacksmiths are rumored to get 2 full bop slots, which would give them 40 extra stat points of any stat they want. Enchanters can get 40 stat points worth of ap or spellpower. These seem a little weak in comparison even if you can pick up an extra socket bonus or two.

So these are better than epics and are available for a daily quest each? Depending on the lvl reqs of JC dailies, this might mean that you get better-than-epic gems in the first week of the expansion. That should help leveling at least.

Moreover, these gems will help you get socket bonuses. Say you want to socket for pure Stamina (tanks do that) but there are red/yellow sockets. Well, you just whip out a couple of Solid Dragon's Eyes and you get your Stamina and your bonus. Flexibility is such a nice thing.

Most likely the reason they're BoE is because they're necessary for the BoE level 80 epic rings/necks which I'm sure quite a few non-JCs would be interested in. Them not being BoE means it will be possible for people to buy the materials so it won't end up like another Primal Nether/Nether Vortex fiasco.

For these gems that you can design it says you can have a Maximum of 3 jeweler's gems socketed in your equipment, Does this mean equipment that you're wearing at the time? Can you have 3 in a raid set and 3 in your pvp set?

I can confirm that you can use any combination of cuts on your gear , even 3x the same.
i tried today and socketed 3x runed ones on my t6 chest

so to cut a long story short the limitation is : " use up to any 3 dragon's eyes on your gear"

so you can have as many of those socketed on your items in your inventory as you want but when you wear items with dragons eyes on them the max gems on you cant surpass 3.i hope its understandable

Actually JCs will most likely spend their tokens on the designs, at least for now, and by the time that people have enough designs, prices will plummet as the market will pretty much be flooded with them (all of the JCs will have nothing to spend their tokens on, so they simply sell them)

And you can make more money from getting designs for cutting stuff that is needed, prospect a load of Saronite Ore, and sell the cut gems (and the uncut ones that you can't cut to anything decent). I can sell Bold Scarlet Ruby for 170-180g each. A stack of Saronite Ore costs between 45-60 gold on my realm, and after I have prospected it (before cutting) it's worth about 120g (on average, of course).

Perfect cuts are only possible for uncommon (=green) quality gems.

I'm not a Jewelcrafter but the basic benefits I see in a profession is personal benefit via new/better gear and also random enjoyment like the Engineering mounts. The second most important aspect I see is profit from your profession, and it seems like you could make a very nice sum of gold selling one of these every day. In the eyes of a non-jewelcrafter however, I do not understand why these cost so much seeming you only have to do a single simple daily that requires you to give up a green jem to complete. Green gems are currently going for 20g and below but these are going for over 500g! The ironic thing is that only a few Jewelcrafters are actually smart enough to take advantage of the price on this item but it is very annoying to know Jewelcrafters can get 500g from doing one daily.

To clear up any confusion, the uncut Dragon's Eye does not become soulbound until it is cut. You can use your JC tokens to buy these, then sell them on the AH. Once cut, however, each design binds on pickup/creation.

A) The Gems cost a single token everything else is 2 or more. some recipes cost 6 each and then another 4 to make it. It will take some time to get all the recipes and then make a profit. On a side note some people have gear for the off spec such as pvp/tank they may need more then 3 gems at any given point in time.
B) Every time you upgrade one of your items you may need to do the quest again and get another token, plus some of your guildies or friends may want you to make the ring for them and are willing to pay for it. It will take a long time to make enough for everyone if your not buying these off AH. (assuming you help your friends out or that you have friends/family who play)
C) Answered this one in A.

Don't be angry because you only want to pay 20 gold for something that is hard to come by. most JC will be buying these as well as people who want to gather the mats for rings. selling them for 200g each when they are not hard to get, but take a long time to get a good amount of them, will justify this price tell every JC out there has all the recipes they need/want, and have made the items they want as well. I can see these items being in high demand for quit some time if anything the price might go up as more people hit 80

These Dragon's Eyes have stirred things up in the opinion columns! You may think it unfair LostDrewid but to my mind it redresses the balance after the dismal experience that was JC in the Outlands. I spent most of my time there in Nagrand trying to earn tokens to buy the one pattern that was a reasonable way to level up and didn't actually equip a single gem while I was there.
I did cash in some eyes when I started in Northrend which helped with Epic Flying Mount and crafted Epics ready for 80, but have done JC dailies for 6 weeks so I feel that I have put the work in for this. Once at 80 will stock up on designs for myself and guildies.

The Dragon's Eye cuts are, in my opinion, the best Gems available for more than just the fact that they're considerably stronger than any others.

Some of the ideal gear pieces for certain class/spec combos have Sockets that are next to useless because few/none of the matching Gems have the proper stats (like Blue Sockets for Balance Druids; the choice is between small increases to useful stats or large increases to so-so stats). Since a Dragon's Eye matches any socket, you can still gain the benefit of a Socket bonus without having to settle for less desirable Gem effects.

I only tell it how I found it. Granted I only hit 70 5 days before Wrath came out so had little time to advance JC further in Outlands. Just because everyone needs it is no guarantee that it is profitable. Supply and demand applies throughout. You can make gold farming stuff people need but have to set against that what else you could be doing with the time.
I did almost as well pre-Wrath buying and selling epics in AH and anyone can have a go at that.

You could at patch release and for a few months after sell dragonseyes for 500 gold the first month or thereabouts, and the price is NOW at around 50-75 gold on bonechewer, admittedly an older server with a lot of established guilds and players, (given that old guilds with a lot of raiders automatically means a ton more JCs due to JC being prime raid profession due to prismatic/dragonseye. So you get a dragonseye every few days, make around 1000 gold a week on average, as I did. Do this for four months, i made around 14k gold on selling all my dragonseyes as they came up and everyone else was racing to buy patterns and make necklaces and rings. I saved 2k of that gold and bought all the dragonseyes I needed at around 60 gold each, i waited for big thursday supply buildups and bought cheap. So I reckon I made 12k by doing one JC daily a day, oh wait, add in the 13 gold per day i got doing it, another 350 or so gold a month if i didnt do it everyday, which i think i did.

best thing was, I got my mage JC to dal, set my hearth to new agamand. Every daily except one can be done from agamand and the other can be done just east of Wyrmrest, the shortest flight from dal. So everyday I hearth to New Ag, do a daily, port back, turn in, 10 minutes a day, meanwhile I ran my warrior main and mined as I leveled. I sold everything I didnt prospect while the market was red hot, did heroics and raids for gear instead of crafting. Whew thiswas a lucrative patch. Of course, no one could even touch how much money the herbalists made, I mean, herbing was the biggest moneymaker by ten thousand percent.

Edit: My enchanter is STILL selling infinite dust at 90-100 gold per stack, so I filter a lot of the non two handed weapon boe greens to my chanter recycler for mats to sell. The 2 handed weaps sell for so much its better to vendor.
Anyways, saw that guy stating a position that was not backed up by market realities and thought I would sum it up for you, for all professions, about the economic facts of an expansion in wow.

When you know a patch is coming, and you want to make the MOST money for the first four months, do the following.
1: Sell everything in your bank. Dump it. Do it as far in advance of the patch release as you can, or be prepared to hold it until scarcity p[umps the value back up, for example ench mats will ulitmately return value several months after patch comes out as all stockpiles are gone and noone runs the instances anymore, butpeople still need to level alts, new hero class, etc, and they have huge piles of gold lying around.

2: If you have multiple max level characters, make sure one is dual gatherer profession, and really, mining and herbing are your best bet for cash value longevity. If you have a farmer toon, make it a druid, btw, because that instant flight form is a joke for gathering. I have a druid i leveled just for this purpose, farmer dan style.

3: Sell everything you get as soon as possible and watch the weekends, when server population is high and supply runs low. I usually buy on thursdays and sell on fri/sat.

4: Try to identify the prime gathering zones and routes asap, use gatherer, and remeber: Almost all materials are worth more than the created items at this time. look at the costs of flasks and potions. Maybe runic healing/mana if made by a pot master can see a slight increase, 5 stack goes for 20 gold pretty solidly for a long time now, buy the engineering doohicky potion injector kits and sell em as 20 stack with a big markup, compare that to my server's cost. goldclover, 1 gold each, icethorn, 1.5-2 gold each. total cost per potion, not including vial: 4 gold per pot, times 5= 20 gold + 2 gold for vials, so you lose unless you get a potion proc and that will be your margin. See what I mean? Sometimes goldclover milled for inscription ink is worth it, but that price jumps a lot in my experience. Better to just farm and sell.

Anyways, thought this might help newbies understand the way the market seems to be performing and how patch release economies work. Also, try to track PTR patch updates to anticipate future demand. IE, new blacksmith drop plans and patch 3.2 recipes will see spikes in titansteel, titanium and therefore saronite prices as they are mats for recipes AND alch transmutes. BTW new transmutes for epic gems bring the transmute spec closer to relevance again. Still looking for a primal might big selling equivalent tho... So that means, stock up, even buy up, cheap saronite now, and watch for the demand spikes as the patch goes live.

Edit: (again) Titanium ore is probably going to be prospectable for epic gems, so stock up. If you have a few grand of gold lying around, build up a huge stockpile at current price cuz you KNOW it will jump for at least a month, then jump in at patch release and drop it all on the ah all week, you should make a nice profit. The AH is best when participated in regularly so you get a feel for real prices, people have figured out how to mess up auctioneer for non experts, and you can get stuck with inventory you thought you were getting at a bargain. Strangely enough the uncut and cut dragon's eyes all have requirement of Jewelcrafting 350 even though you need minimum skill of 370 to be able to even make any of the recipes.

With the new +20 gems in 3.2, these are going for a RIDICULOUS amount in the AH. My server prices went from 80g to 250g. Good for those selling, bad for those trying to craft the epic JC rings/necks.

If you have a cut for one of these, always check the prices on this befor ethe epic gem counterpart. For example,
these are 34 gold on my server.
Now, a Bold Cardinal ruby (20 STR) is 129.
Buy 3 of these babies and cut 'em into 34 strength gems, got an extra +42 strength and i saved gold. so always check these prices before you check the prices of epic gems.

When it comes to the requirements for using this and the requirements for cutting it, it's simply a way to give JC benefits to the BC community as fast as possible. In other words, they can socket a Dragon's Eye if they've farmed up and leveled JC to 350+ right as the expac came out.

That said, it makes it much easier for Twinks to have JC as a profession if they don't plan to level it all the way and/or get the cuts themselves. You simply level to 350 and then stop. Saves you from leveling through the expensive Adamantite, Khorium, Cobalt, Saronite + Titanium pieces. However, it does stop you from being above to cut as mentioned and being able to create the green ilvl ~300 rings that are used for disenchanting.

These are quite rare on my server and the Nightmare Tears (+10 to stats) made from 1 Eye and 5x Infinite Dusts sell well for over 900g. (Sorry for no links but they seem to refuse to work properly as of writing this).

I'm lvl 85. Rare Cata gems are +6 stat points higher than these JC specific epic gems.

Even if I were still WotLK lvl, I'd most likely, presumably, hit 85 sooner than later.

I'm amused that the audit doesn't consider this...
