Currently the only reason to pick this glyph up is for emergency healing with Healing Touch. Granted you will not have the same effect as you would without this Glyph, but this opens for alot more emergency healing, apart from the Healing Touch you usually cast together with Nature's Swiftness. This mainly due to the fact that Nourish has a 0.5sec longer cast time than Healing Touch has. Let us do some maths:

Healing Touch (Rank16) has a cast time of 1.0 sec (talented), with a mana cost of 20.27% of base mana (talented), the average healing of max rank is 4089 healing, and for scaling it has a coefficient of 125.7% (again, talented) assuming Blizzard does not redo their decision to change Healing Touch to a 3.0sec base cast time spell. However, due to using this Glyph we have to reduce the final healing of Healing Touch by 50%.

Nourish (Rank 1) on the other side has a cast time of 1.5 sec, with a mana cost of 16.2% of base mana (talented), the average healing of Rank 1, is 2035 healing, and the coefficient of the spell is 42.8%. Nourish also has a bonus effect adding 20% healing to the target if any Healing over Time effects (Druid) is found on the target.

Let us assume a Druid has +4000 ''healing'' (not unlikely somewhere in the expansion):

Healing: 4089+(4000*1.257)*10% (Gift of Nature) = 10028 heal. * 0.5 (Glyph) = 5014 healing. (Healing Touch)
Healing: 2035+(4000*0.428)*10% (Gift of Nature) = 4121 heal * 1.2 (Healing over Time effect) = 4946 healing. (Nourish)

In other words:
Healing Touch does 5014 healing for 20.27% of base mana on a 1.0sec casting time.
Nourish does 4946 healing for 16.2% of base mana on a 1.5sec casting time.

TLDR: Glyphed Healing Touch gives a frequent emergency heal (especially coupled with Nature's Grace), but Nourish is more effective to use for single target healing. Eventually you could usually spam Nourish, and perhaps change to Healing Touch if the tank drops abit low? :)

I can see the arguments against this glyph, especially at lvl 80 what with Nourish and all. However, at lower lvls this thing is pretty fun. I absolutely never cast HT before I had this glyph not even in emergencies. I never needed it, if I needed a decent amount of hp fast I'd cast natures swiftness and regrowth and that combined with lifebloom stacked three times which I never let expire on a tank is always enough to keep them alive. So it's nice to have a 1 second HT that I can throw on multiple party members. It's definitely not that efficient when it comes to mana, but as a resto druid who cares. Most of us can run through entire instances without ever drinking or innervating. So don't expect to be using this in your end game raiding, but it is pretty cool and interesting to use at times.

Im not sure how the maths adds up but as a leveling boomking from 70 - 80 wouldnt this glyph make a great way to heal 5 mans for leveling balance druids?

well, i did a little math. this was based on a 25 druid with 1594 mana, but the timing differences wont change much, and the differences in % shouldnt change.

Without it- 182 mana, 2.5 second cast, and heals avg 418 health. this comes out to 167.2 healing per second, and costs 72.8 mana per second. healing per mana, is 2.3

with it- 136 mana, 1 second cast, and heals avg 209 health. this comes out to 209 healing per second, and costs 139 mana per second. healing per mana, is 1.5

without it, and healing nonstop using healing touch, you would run out of mana in 22 seconds. and you would be able to heal your target for 3678 health total

with it, and healing nonstop using healing touch, you would run out of mana in 11.7 seconds. and you aould be able to heal your target for 2445 health total.

so in the end, you would run out of mana fast, and heal your target less, because youll run out of mana 153% faster. this glyph, will not help you.

Don't underestimate this while leveling as a balance or feral druid. The 1 second cast is just too helpful and quick to be interrupted (usually the mobs can't swing fast enough to disrupt it). It has saved me many times when crap hits the fan. And there were several times when I've ended up tanking an elite in cloth spell power gear with all my hots up and spamming HT while a party member would dps the mob down. Reminds of a Troll Shaman berserking Lesser HW's in BG's -- the heals are way too fast to bring down.

So if you're leveling, this isn't too bad of a glyph. Also helps being an offspec healer in easier dungeons as your only "oh &*!@" heal.

This is a good glyph for a PvP balance druid, pretty useless otherwise.

The problem is, should you waste a major slot with a helaing glyph when you spec balance?

The primary use of this is for resto arenas.

https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=33880 and https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=17073 make HT a 1 second cast, and better than nourish in the first place.

Ever try to pummel/kick/interrupt/whatever a 1 second cast as opposed to a 1.5 second cast? So much easier to catch the nourish.

This is NOT for pve, theorybashers. Nourish is obviously better in a lazy pve environment where you can keep nonstop hots rolling on your target.

In pvp, with death knights breathing down your throat, with stuns, disorients and whatever else people can throw at you, your heals need to be quick and dirty.

That is what this glyph is for.

In Patch 3.3.5, this was Glyph of Healing Touch (Major) - Decreases the cast time of Healing Touch by 1.5 sec, the mana cost by 25%, and the amount healed by 50%.

In Patch 4.0.1, it has been changed to Glyph of Healing Touch (Major) - When you Healing Touch, the cooldown on your Nature's Swiftness is reduced by 5 sec.

Just in case anyone is wondering, if you Nature's Swiftness+Healing Touch, that Healing Touch does indeed reduce the cooldown so that it starts at 2m50s.

Did a couple tests to see how low I could get the cooldown. I'm at 2007 haste rating (for the wild growth break point) but by myself, so no 5% haste buff. Healing Touch cast time was 2.2 seconds.
Doing nothing but casting HT (unlikely in an actual raid), I was able to get the cooldown to 30~ seconds.
Still casting mostly HT but casting rejuvenation, wild growth, swiftmend, and a regrowth for nature's grace (still unlikely, but plausible in a high tank damage situation) the CD was reduced to 45-50 seconds.

In Mists of Pandaria this glyph has changed again.

OLD: Glyph of Healing Touch - When you cast Healing Touch, the cooldown on your Nature's Swiftness is reduced by 10 sec.
NEW: Glyph of Healing Touch - When you cast Healing Touch, the cooldown on your Swiftmend is reduced by 1 sec.
