This can be enchanted with crusader, spelldmg, int and you can reuse it on all your charecters since it aint soulbounds, so gogo enchant it, and get some nice lvl 1-20s :D

Edit/comment. Haha Im surprised this is still getting upvoted. I remember having one with each enchant back then, sort of an early form of BoA/Heirloom weapon :-) Could it be that my little trick lead to BoA/Heirlooms? Mind.....blown!

I don't remember when, but they added more items that people can use in place of the 'traditional' mining picks. The best part is, you don't need the axe skill to use the mining pick, as my warlock is using Brann's Trusty Pick just fine. Here's a list of the different mining picks:

* Kobold Excavation Pick
* Gouging Pick
* Brann's Trusty Pick
* Tunnel Pick
* Miner's Revenge
* Cold Iron Pick
* Digmaster 5000
* Gnomish Army Knife
* Hammer Pick
* Bladed Pickaxe

The white mining pick technically isn't an axe which is awesome - I just had to tank an instance as a ret paladin and didn't have any of my 1 hand skills leveled, so I threw on the mining pick and come to think of it I haven't missed on a mob once. Since my threat is via spell damage, I was able to tank just fine with it ;)

the mining pick(or black smith hammer, or skinning knife, or fishing pole) has slightly better damage than your fist in unarmed combat like if say your real weapon goes red from 0 durability left. So it is a last ditch backup weapon.

If your class can use axes its a good idea to hold on to one of those better picks listed by Chaoscrusader666 in your mining bag.

I destroyed this and now im using Gouging Pick, lvl 17 grey item, for mining.. You can use other "pick-like" items for mining too.. New in the patch!

i was going on this quest and i saw dis copper vien so i was all like OMFG!1111!11! so then i ran up to it and was like im ganna get copper W00t!11!1! and den i clicked mine and i was like OMG!11! because i didnt have a mining pick =(
