Turn in to Lorekeeper Lydros in the library section of the west wing of Dire Maul. He's on the other side of the wall from Prince Tortheldrin. You'll need the Crescent Key to get to him.

For some odd reason, Blizzard's built in quest helper shows the turn-in as right next to Dalaran Crater. Don't let that fool you and waste your time running up there like i did -_-. As it has been mentioned, the guy is indeed inside the Dire Maul library.

I had the quest on my pally still from 3.3.5 and just turned it in to the guy. You can't take the shortcut via DM North to get there. The door in DM North doesn't work. Only way to turn in the pattern is to go all the way around and through DM West. Odd how you can still get 500 Shen'dralar rep from this quest.

I'm am very confused.. Can anyone explain, exactly, how to begin this quest. Something about a spell that combines the top and bottom halves of Advanced Armorsmithing..But, how does one do this? Thanks, in advance for any explaination about this.

Am now making this and the Leggings on Zul'Jin, Horde. Once I get the top half of Volume 3 I'll be doing the Helm also. All three combine for an extra 760 HP :) And +44 to strength, +38 to defense . . . what tank wouldn't want them?

Check Thott for drops, I picked mine up at the AH.

This is my recommendation for the 3 Enchanted Thorium Platemail parts:

- (Self-made) Enchanted Thorium Platemail (Chest, Legs, Helm); very expensive in terms of Arcanite 24 bars for all pieces, but doable
- (epic) Stockade Pauldrons (if you can afford this 300 gold item, Increased Defense +15) or Heroic Pauldrons (same design as Stockade Pauldrons, but blue-grey color)
- Stonegrip Gauntlets (same design as Heroic Gauntlets, but slightly more grey, Increased Defense +15) or Heroic Gauntlets (blue-grey)
- Deathbone Girdle (for the cool looking skull and better stats, grey color) or Heroic Girdle (blue-grey)
- Heroic Greaves (grey with excellent texture)
- Praetorian Cloak (red-golden color) or Mercurial Cloak (red color)
- Medallion of Grand Marshal Morris (Amulet, Increased Defense +15)
- Draconian Deflector (Shield, Increased Defense +15)

Total Increased Defense using these parts:

- Enchanted Thorium Platemail: +38
- Stockade Pauldrons: +15
- Stonegrip Gauntlets: +15
- Medallion of Grand Marshal Morris: +15
- Draconian Deflector: +15

= +98 Increased Defense total

All "Enchanted Thorium Platemail" armor pieces got a BIG hit with the nerf stick in patch 1.7.0, as all pieces's defense values (actually the best stat on these) have been crippled by 33%. Thanks god, I didn't create the stuff yet.

I think, they'll be still good when the patch is out. Because the other items, which add a bonus to defense, also get nerfed. The gear would provide +25/26 defense, though, what means, there is still no other Rare-Equip, which adds such a high amount to the defense skill. This is why I think, they will still be good, the only question is, whether it's still worth the ressources, you spend in...

i had it as drop from a boss in room, next after eggs in UBRS (dont remember boss name) most groups skipp him.

Lots of people seem confused as to where to get these from. I've only seen in AH so that is where I got one part for each. Got second part of volume 1 yesterday using trade channel. Just click on one half when you have both and it creates volume for you. Click again to get Q.

please oh please stop talking about the items and tell us the location. Every single quest I look up some people are talking about how cool something is or some other crap. WE DON'T CARE! Just tell us the Coordinates!

Destination: Dire Maul North

- You or someone in your group will need the Cresent Key (Obtained in Dire Maul East)

- Check out the Dire Maul North portion of this map:

- From Enterance A, head to Guard Mol'dar (marked as number 1 on the map)

- In Guard Mol'dar's area is a door where you need the key. Open the door and go down a long path. It leads to a large room with Lorekeeper Lydros. Turn the quest into him.

Sounds like Dire Maul. The Athenaeum which is located inside the Ogre instance of Dire Maul. Much like the class specific trinket books you can find in there.
