One thing to note - If you lose your goblin squad for whatever reason, you can talk to the NPC at the front of each gate as you open them to grab them again.

I did this with another party member, and it didn't work for me because somehow I was mounted and flew ahead too far and lost my gobopack.

I did this quest a good 4-5 times on my flying mount without it working. Sometimes the goblins would just despawn, other times they wouldn't.

I think it is a requirement to kill at least a few NPCs along the road heading towards the gate, because when I did it walking along the path unmounted instead of flying, I killed about 4 NPCs and it completed fine.

The failure of this quest is due to the loss of Patch from what I can tell. After not completing it about 5 times I finally noticed Patch had not been with me upon reaching the gates. Keep a close eye on him.

Edit: After doing another run, with Patch marked and brought fully to the end, I can confirm he MUST reach the gates for the completion.

Avoid rocks. Goblins get stuck easily. Guess they're too tall for them to climb.

After you turn this in, put your pet away or it will kind of mess up the cinematic that comes after. I couldnt really see because I was inside my pet through the whole thing.

i abadoned the quest because i lost the Gob squad. is there anyway i can get it again or am i screwed?

i found a pally running with Gob squad and i was able to get it back.

After attempting this quest over 12 times, I finally gave up on the mount and ignoring killing things and walked through. Wait for them to kill a mob group here and there, and make sure they are all with you. May be easier if you wait for someone else to start the quest so there's less mobs. It's easy with an AOE.

I tried this several times also and never completed it then after about the 10th try I noticed something every time before I didn't have the right number of goblins for some reason it wasn't always spawning the full pack for me

in short: count your goblins you must have all 5 to complete

After attempting this quest several times - and failing for no apparent reason - I discovered my problem. The server was experiencing periodic lag spikes. When this occured, Patch would suddenly stop following, but the other four goblins would continue following me. I completed the quest by closely watching Patch, and stopping to wait for him whenever the server started lagging.

I didnt realize that you have to go quite a way past the gate, to the NPC Calen to complete at 22.2, 56.5. Good luck!

OK. I was almost all the way to the end and had to step away from my computer for a while, so I logged out while standing there with my gob squad. When I came back I was all by myself with no squad, the only person I could find was caleb or calen or whatever his name is and he couldn't help me get them back. There was no one else to talk to at any gate. I abandoned quest and want to pick it back up but flew all the way back to the tree along the same route and there is no one I can see with an exclamation over their head to get the quest. Any advice?

I looked for warlord Krogg like one of the posts above say to do and found him back at the first gate. I talked to him and got my Gob squad back and then picked up the quest from one of the squad members just like I originally did when I picked it up the first time around. This time completed the quest with no trouble, actually was pretty easy compared to others I have done. So, thanks to https://www.wowhead.com/cata/user=switch89a I am back in business and on my way. greatly appreciated the spot on info! Thanks! :-)

There are few quests as frustrating as this. Tons of aggro, and it's basically an escort that fails without you noticing. Horrible design.

This quest is so very easy and fast to complete. Fly across the edge of the valley without zone-changing. The Gob Squad can stand on near-vertical mountainsides, as long as you wait from them once a second or so they will follow, doesn't matter if you encounter rocks or anything else. Just before the gate kill a few enemies so you can pass through it.

This is not the way it's intended to be completed, but it's possible if you don't fly on ahead. The previous quest, If The Key Fits, can be completed the same way.

This isn't the last quest in the chain. Next is Enter the Dragon Queen and after that, Battle of Life and Death.

Pressing Forward

Bring the Gob Squad past the northern Dragonmaw Gate to the entrance of Grim Batol.

If you are separated from the Gob Squad, return to Warlord Krogg in Wyrms' Bend to be reassigned.

Description

Good work so far. We should find the entrance to Grim Batol just past the next gate.

I was ordered to secure the entrance and block off reinforcements while the rest of our men press through the path we've cleared up the canyon. I'm thinking if we get there soon enough, maybe I can let Ticker have a little more fun.

Let's get moving down the canyon to the southwest - we should find the next gate pretty quickly.
