Not including the prereq quests, this chain alone grants 130,650 experience, and in my opinion the prereq quests are far more difficult.

The part that really sucks is having to run Auch Crypts with those ghosts popping up everywhere.

Neck and leggings are very nice though...and you will almost always draw a crowd in Nagrand.

Was really disappointed. Completed this chain last night and tried to do the turn-in and kick off the event in Nagrand. Had someone "scout" Garadar to make sure that Thrall wasn't already there. He wasn't. Did the turn-in with Thrall and back to Greatmother, but the event never started. The Kor'kron Honor Guard showed up near the Nesingwary Camp, but Thrall never showed. Thankfully, I had seen the event before, but...

Wish they've fix some of this "scripted" stuff to work more consistently.

To see the event, you have to wait about 5 minutes after finishing the quest at the Greatmother. Thrall will walk there and the event starts.

If someone did the quest just before you and you want to see the event you are in for a long wait. Thrall has been sitting by the greatmother for two hours now since the last quest turn in was, I have no idea for how long I will have to wait until he despawns.

If you want to see full event, DONT wait near the greatmother, mount up and go to the west road, where Thrall arives at Garadar (and its not like 5 minutes, it is almost immidiatly):

After submitting this quest, you can hear Thrall yell. He spawns around the nessingway area together with 20 orcs (71+ elite) on mounts walking slowly towards Garadar. An awesome sight to see. Go to Garadar's east entrance to receive thrall. :)

From there, Thrall takes a slow walk to the inn.

OMG no, how did I missed that?! :( I just hope ill get there when some1 else finishes that. I have heared Thrall yell many times, so maybe ill get lucky once :p

Also interesting to mention: I belive that few allianz raids couldnt clear Garadar in specific time :-D - besides Garrosh and mother Geyah, Thrall spawns too, but once I saw Drek`Thar on the western entrance, along with like 15-20 guards lvl72 elite ^^, too bad I was in hurry then. Could u imagine some raid (who turned wrong in the dark from halaa :p) in that time? that would be like a cat and mouse :)))

any1 knows if there is something like that for allianz? too bad if not :-/

IMO this game was created by not very creative ppl :P - besides all tier and some other items looks always the same, most of the game is pretty boring. IMO there should be more class quests (the last class Q is on lvl50+ in sunken temple, except for druid/pala/lock mounts), also a lot more race quests, proffesions quests,... :-/ come on blizzz, use your imagination sometimes.

Very cool quest in my opinion, but don't do the same mistake as I did. If somebody has turned in the quest, you will need to wait up to 2 hours before thrall leaves, if you want to see the awesome event and get the buff. Anybody who is interested in Lore should wait and see the event, it's definately worth it.

This Quest Chain starts in Hellfire with The Assassin. This requires you are able to speak to Nazgrel which means you will have to have done at least some of the level 58 outland Quests*.

1. The Assassin
2. A Strange Weapon
3. The Warchief's Mandate
4. A Spirit Guide
5. The Mag'har
6. Messenger to Thrall
7. Envoy to the Mag'har

Also given at this point are the following, but may not be necessary to complete the Hero chain. They are very nice rep rewards for each so you may want to do them since you’re there anyway.

The next part leads you to Jorin Dead Eye in Garadar, Nagrand.

This has got to be the best quest chain in WoW. I followed the above info and found it most helpful except a few things that where not listed. First once you have a Soul Mirror from Crypts and you have to complete the "What the Soul Sees" part of the quest chain you have to be in a group of 3. The ghost start out as non-elites but when you use the Mirror they turn into 67elites that hit very hard. Also don't try to use the mirror inside Garadar because even if you kill the elite ghost you will not get credit for it. You will have to wait till it is outside of the gates to kill it. Also the guards will not help you. Not the ones standing at the gate or the ones on patrol. So bring friends. The comment up above suggest that after you finish the quest line you willl be exalted with Mag'har. You will not. Honored yes. You will also get a sweet buff that DOES NOT last past death. Everyone in the immediate vicinity got the buff. I took plenty of picks. I'm really into the game lore. Also if you wanna see the entire cut scene go to the west road and ride in with "The Warchief!"

Thrall showed Garrosh his father's fate, then came back to Greatmother Geyah and told her "I have returned, Greatmother. Garrosh has found his heart and his fury." Then nothing happened. Is there more to the event? I was expecting to see Geyah die peacefully or something. It seems like an abrupt end.
That said, this is definitely an awesome quest chain. It feels like a good conclusion to the storylines of the Nagrand quests.

This quest unfortunately has no alliance equivalent for equal gear, very upsetting for dps spec alliance acking for hit rating and nice quest blues(two to boot). Interesting quest line and allot of lore, wish they would of just explained something involving the kurenai through a long fairly easy chain for some phat lewts, but nah >_<

I started this quest hoping for a quick blue item to level with. All of a sudden I was pulled into it, I'm not much of a lore fan either but it was very interesting. This is my favorite quest line in the game. I felt special because my character was an orc shaman too. >_<

I watched the whole thing, and it was amazing. It was one of those wow WoW moments... I can't believe I skipped this on my warrior, well it was one hell of a quest line. I think it is in excess of 25 quests to get to this point since more than one chain of quests contribute.

Not very hard to solo. Did it as a level 70 BM hunter using mainly blues but a few quest greens. Remember that it's ok to go slow here, it's at your own pace since you summon them. This is arguably the hardest part of the quest and it's an awesome amount of rep for how easy the line is.

Here's the dialogue that goes on in the event:

*War drums echo in the distance.
Thrall yells: At long last, I am home...

(About 6 minutes later)

Thrall says: Greatmother...

Greatmother Geyah says: I have been expecting you, young one. Come closer - my eyes are not as sharp as they once were.
Greatmother Geyah says: Yes, you move like my son. You have his broad shoulders - ahh, and your mother's fierce eyes.

Thrall says: Greatmother...Am I...

Greatmother Geyah says: There is no doubt - you are the heir of Durotan... my grandson. Draka told me she was with child before she and your father left our world, but I never dared dream that they would survive...

Thrall says: They... did not, Greatmother. They were killed shortly after I was born. I never knew them. I was raised as a slave. To this day, I carry the name of Thrall.

Greatmother Geyah says: Thrall? You've been a slave only to the past, grandson! But no more! When last I saw him, Durotan told me the name he would give his unborn son... He was... so proud...
*Greatmother Geyah wipes a tear away.
Greatmother Geyah says: Go'el. You are Go'el, son of Durotan - rightful chieftain of the Frostwolves. This day, grandson - you are the great joy of my heart.

Thrall says: I have dreamed of this moment all my life, Greatmother. 'Till now, all I've had were Orgrim's stories about my parents and their adventures on Draenor. He was my greatest teacher and dearest friend. He died a hero... They all died as heroes - and for all of them, a song of honor remains.

Greatmother Geyah says: I see that you hold the Doomhammer. Have all of our greatest heroes fallen, grandson?

Thrall says: They died honorably, Greatmother.
Greatmother Geyah says: What of Grommash? What of Hellscream?

Thrall says: He died our greatest hero. It was Grom who freed us all... I was by his side when he struck down Mannoroth and ended the curse forever.

Greatmother Geyah says: Blessed spirits! For twenty years, all we knew was that Grom was the first to drink from the cursed chalice and bring damnation down upon our people... It is the only truth his son, Garrosh has ever known.

Greatmother Geyah says: Grandson, will you... Will you tell Garrosh what you have told me about his father?

Thrall says: Tell him? Greatmother, that boy's father died so that all of us could live free of the blood curse. I will tell him nothing. I will show him! Show him and any that would doubt Hellscream's resolve exactly what Grom Hellscream did for all orcs!
Thrall says: Please excuse me, Greatmother. I will return soon.

(Thrall walks down to Garrosh, then leads him to the spirit circle)

Thrall yells: Spirits give me strength! Take from my soul these old wounds and expose them for all to see! Let this child know his father! Let these people know their savior!

(Thrall summons a sort of miniature version of the fight with Mannoroth in the spirit circle)

*Mannoroth laughs.
Mannoroth says: So predictable. I knew you would come. And I see you've brought the mighty Hellscream.
Mannoroth says: His blood is mine, as is your whole misbegotten race.
Thrall roars in defiance.

(Mannoroth strikes down Thrall)

Mannoroth says: A worthy effort, but futile.
*Mannoroth laughs.
Mannoroth says: The boy believed you could be saved, but he didn't know what burns within your soul when in your heart, you know we are the same.

Grom Hellscream says: NOOOO!

(Hellscream and Mannoroth strike each other down, Thrall gets back up)

Grom Hellscream says: Thrall... The blood haze has lifted.
*Grom's eyes go dim as the blood curse is lifted.
Grom Hellscream says: The demon's fire has burnt out in my veins. I have... freed myself.

Thrall says: No, old friend. You've freed us all...

Garrosh collapses.
Garrosh says: For my entire life I have thought my bloodline cursed. I have lived beneath the shadow of my father's greatest failure.
Garrosh says: I hated him for what he had done. I hated him for the burden he left me. But now...
Garrosh says: You have shown me truths that I would have never known. You and your allies have gifted me with something that cannot bear a price: Redemption. Thrall, redeemer of the Mag'har, you honor me as none ever have...
Garrosh says: On this day, a great burden has been lifted from my chest. My heart swells with pride. And for the first time, I can proudly proclaim who I am. I can finally unleash the fury in my heart.
Garrosh yells: I am Garrosh Hellscream, son of Grom, chieftain of the Mag'har! Let the battle call of Hellscream give you courage and strength! Be lifted by my rallying cry.

(Everyone gets Hellscream's Warsong buff)

Garrosh says: Thank you, son of Durotan.

Thrall places a hand on Garrosh's shoulder.
Thrall says: You need not thank me, Garrosh. Your father was a brother to me. I would do anything for you and the Mag'har. I must now return to the Greatmother.

(Thrall walks back to the Greatmother)

Thrall says: I have returned, Greatmother. Garrosh has found his heart and his fury.

So I went out to Nesingwary's camp to wait for Thrall, but never saw him (I eventually found him wandering through Garadar, though). Instead, on the west side of the road, near Windyreed Pass, I saw a green dot on my minimap. I had 'Track Humanoids' on, so I figured someone was standing over there. I flew over, and found no one. So I hovered my mouse over the green dot on the minimap, and it said, "Thrall's Hero Music." Alas, I heard no music, and saw no Thrall.

Just an interesting little quirk for any hunters who want to see unhearable music tracked as an invisible humanoid.

Could have been put in the new patch but it seems the way Thrall gets to garadar is different.

I turned in the quest and headed out of garadar and headed for the nessingwary and thrall and drek'thar spawned baisicly right in front of garadar and began the event so they musta made it quicker

I must say that garrosh aside, I love this quest.

it is lore and quests like this one that makes me proud of being horde.

there is no more greater satisfaction that having such an amazing leader as thrall.

he's the best faction leader ever, and nobody can argue that.

whenever u're questing, if thrall is involved in any way on that quest u can bet your hide the quest is gonna be epic like none other.

on retrospective, as satisfactory as it was to do this quest, I wonder if it was such a good idea to awaken garrosh's mood like that.

I wonder where would the horde be if he was still pesimistic on nagrand........

Turned in quest, heard war drums and Thrall's first yell, rode out and saw the Kor'kron guard ride in and form up. 10-20 minutes later, hear Thrall go "Spirits give me strength! Take from my soul..." etc etc. Ride around Garadar spamming "/tar Thrall" with no results. Garrosh is also no longer present. Go back to waiting by the honor guard. A minute after that, Garrosh yells "I am Garrosh Hellscream..." etc etc and gives his buff, which I don't even get since I was just outside the village. THEN I ride back into the village and Thrall and Garrosh are there. VERY annoyed and disappointed.

Currently have a ticket in on about 4 other issues as well as this one, I'll let you know if the GM can do anything at all *!@#ing useful.

Dude, this event has seriously taken like 20 minutes so far, and it isn't over. It's been five minutes since Thrall first spoke to Greatmother, and she has yet to respond. I think it's buggy. Either Blizz should shorten these in-between phases or it's messed up.

Okay, scratch all that. Blizz apparently sped it up and I missed the whole damn thing waiting for him to walk in from out east. And of course all the Youtube videos suck. Blizz, dammit. Put in an option to repeat the scene.

This questline is different after 4.0.1. It now ends with you speaking to the great mother. When she finds out about thrall you turn the quest in to her and Thrall immediately spawns on the road. You don't have to go back to Orgrimmar to turn it in. I assume this is because he soon won't be in Orgrimmar.

Just wanted to confirm that you CAN finish this quest line post-Cataclysm! (Heck, I started and finished it last week!) The only difference is that you don't go back to Ogrimmar to get Thrall - he just shows up.

Personally, I'm chalking it up to a favor from Chromie. ;) I'm glad I didn't miss out on this little slice of Horde history, and the rep gained from doing these is great!

WOW....Allakhazam really revamped their website! Havn't been here in awhile....

A fantastic piece of lore for a quest. As far as for an alliance equiv, of course there isn't! This is about orcs, and Nagrand is their home, a equal quest chain could not be duplicated for the allies. ;p

Without doubt, one of, if not the greatest 'Horde' quest line in the game. You must complete all 3 major Mag'har rep quest lines, the first starting at Mag'har Post & the rest in Nagrand, to even get to this final 14 epic quest line. It'll take you all over Nagrand and decent chunk of Outland. It's also the fastest way to gain 'exalted' for any of the factions in the game. In my case exalted Mag'har rep for a cheap 90g epic Tabluk. Overall, I probably made 150g-200g+ in grinding & reward gear, and gained about 5-6 levels.

If you're a real gamer & true Horde player, looking for an epic story line and into WOW lore. This quest line has it all. Lot's of 'instance type' players can't stick this one out - so it's nice accomplishment. And an epic Tabluk is a nice bonus.

When I picked up the quest to go see Thrall in Orgrimmar, he was already sitting in front of Greatmother in Garadar. Obviously, I can't turn it in to him right there, so time to fly.

But I was wondering, if I fly to Shattrath, port to Orgrimmar, go in Thrall's Chamber, approach his throne, only to find a piece of paper that reads "BRB" on it, I'm rerolling alliance.

It's a joke. Laugh. He was there where he always is. But Thrall in Garadar didn't poof and the whole event started over again. The Thrall there was like "eh, I don't want to do that again, sorry"

The event DID NOT trigger due to Thrall already being at place. So be warned as if you want to see the event Thrall must NOT be there.

For TBC Classic players:

The RP part after this quest was originally ending with a zone-wide worldbuff Hellscream's Warsong , identical to the original Warchief's Blessing from the Onyxia's quest chain.
WhiIe the Nagrand's buff isn't given to players in TBC Classic, I suspect that originally similar to the Orgrimmar's one, this worldbuff had a 3h cooldown, and therefore by extension the RP part too.

This is hypothetical, but If someone did the quest before you, you probably need to wait 3h to witness it again.
A good indication is to see if Thrall is sitting by the Grandmother, but even if he isn't here there might still be some time left (happened to me, Thrall wasn't there and it didn't trigger it).

You cant outlevel this questline, so thats very nice.. I think you are 65 first time when you visit the stonemother in nagrand, im doing the Q now at 68 and get exp like i get from level 68 quests. Just a fyi :)
