A couple helpful tips for warrior tanks on taking them down before phase 2 of the boss fight occurs:

Ability Priority

1. Shield Slam
2. Devastate
3. Heroic Strike (When >50 rage)

Don't bother with revenge/shockwave/concussion blow; your goal is to get shield slam to proc by spamming devastate. Not only is this your hardest hitting ability, it also does extra DPS if you are equipped with the T-12 two-set bonus.

Things to Keep Up

-> Retaliation (preferably during tantrum)
-> Rend (helps during excess movement)
-> Inner Rage (THIS IS HUGE!)

Inner Rage will help you unbelievably while taking these birds down. You should be getting plenty of rage and it's up every 30 seconds. Most of the time you'll spamming Heroic Strike and Devastate waiting for a Shield Slam.

The above methods were helpful to me while tanking the hatchlings alone, without help in 10-man difficulty. If you need to, swap out one of your trinkets for a exp/hit trinket. However, doing the above should allow you to take hatchlings down with plenty of time to spare.

Something to take into account about these birds is that they are not level 88 bosses, but level 87 elites. This means that for tanks having trouble killing them before the next phase, and try to cap their expertise/hit a bit to help finish them off, remember that these mobs will require less expertise/hit than a boss.

I have a simple tip that will make you go: wtf? - but actually facing the bird all the time is literally one of the things that may have you kill this one before phase 2 strikes. Simply walk backwards to grab worms will ensure you another 2 million damage on the target as it follows you and you can use all damage needed for this to be honest.

I myself had some trouble in the beginning with these as i seemed to not be able to push enough dps so i reworked my rotation especially for this (i'm a bear) - Get Fearie fire on it as the first attack even before you get 1000% dmg buff, and start stacking lacerate, when you have 3 stacks use pulverize and get lacerate to 3 stacks again, just that second you should use Berserk and go crazy with mangle as it now also has +9% crit chance (use other procs and stuff if you can) and just as the lacerate or pulverize buff is about to run out use it again. at this time you should have atleast brought it down with 33% and from thereon you can pretty much use every spell (except swipe cause it's useless here :D) - and try to have pulverize all the time.
This works well as your cooldown on berserk will have reset just in time before the cycle of phases repeats
