These are no longer phased when you complete the quest chain. they are higher up. I was farming these for the Delicate Wings and here is the result.

Seemed more like 66% drop rate then 50% i would have 4 in a row sometimes drop the wing then 2 without.

I'm an 85 shaman and use elemental spec for farming.

They only have 10k health so I only had to stop twice to regain health and never ran out of mana.

Occassionally i had one phase or lose aggro while going for a second, i have done all the quests in Uldum.

Actually, unlike the first post in this thread....I had a problem seeing the vultures before I finished the quests in that area. The area originally is extremely desolate of anything. When I would fly to a distance and look at the area you can see the Vultures easily and there's a lot of them. Yet when I flew to the area they all literally despawn b4 you can kill any of them.

There was a quest I got in the area for Harrison Jones. I did the quest line, which isn't much and it turned the area into the "Oasis" mentioned above and voila! Those vultures are now everywhere and there's no problem with "Phasing" unless you leave the area into the sandy area that surrounds it.

Quested there for less than 40 mins after the area had been "changed" and I had 40 of the Delicate Wings needed for the Feathered Lures or the Feasts. The drop rate is awesome and they have incredibly low hp.

I think maybe what the 1st post was talking about was maybe b4 the recent patch and might have been fixed to now get rid of the "phasing" once the area is turned into the oasis...instead of vice versa.

As a note, these mobs have a full Cata loot table, plus drop delicate wings (lower end feasts). That means these NPC's are far faster to try and farm for world drops/profession based rare drops (BoE patterns/JC trinket starter quest items/ect).
They have very low HP, which means even a healer with a DoT, can easily kill them.

I farmed these right after the new patterns came out, for about 2hours, and gathered 80 or so Wings, and 1 Enchanting pattern and 1 JC pattern (Int wrist+Str meta).

If you are not careful, these vultures can be like the Monstrous Kaliri in Skettis. So if you are trying to fly away from them, do not fly too high up or you may be dazed and fall, which may result in heavy damage or death.

I don't know what the issue is, but I can't find a single bird. I see birds circling waaaay high up, but you cannot select them, they have no nameplate, and you cannot aggro them. There's nothing there.

Used a treasure potion while farming these for meat and only had 6 boxes drop the hour i farmed them

I spent an hour farming the area for these vultures with a level 84 toon. Here are my results and observations:

They have a very good spawn rate. I never had to spend more than 2 or 3 seconds looking for my next kill.
I got 3 green items, 7 gray items, and 195 true junk (Ragged Down, etc.). The junk adds up in value though!
The hardest part about the area is the wolves that are also there. They have just under 62k health. Easily enough avoided, but you are likely to pull one every now and then.
As others have said, the easiest way to pull them seems to be flying through/near them to aggro. You will get knocked off your mount every now and then though. However, since they aren't that high off the ground, you won't take that much fall damage.
There are actually two types of birds in the area. One is these guys that I was farming. The other is merely scenic decoration. The scenic birds fly high overhead, have no nameplates, and are not targetable. These are likely the birds that Deathonacake mentioned.
If you have your choice of toons to take to farm these guys, I would recommend taking an herbalist. There are a number of Whiptail nodes that spawn frequently. I didn't keep track of how many I picked up - and I already had a number in my bags before starting - but I think it was over two stacks. Not a bad little bonus.

Between the experience from killing and from plucking the herbs, I got an additional 7% of the way to 85. I did not have any +xp gear on, but my guild is level 3 (so Fast Track (Rank 1) bonus gain), and the kill experience was doubled due to being rested. Your mileage may vary.

I don't know i'm just OP but as a blood tank i could gather them up in packs of 3-4 and kill them all in 2 heart strikes. So feel free to aoe them down easily. Also another + of these guys is they seem to have a very high re spawn rate, making them easy to farm.

For hunters, this is the only BIRD OF PREY with the Carrion Bird vulture skin.

Just a note, if you aggro these while on a flying mount and then fly back to the ground, be careful not to kill them too fast. Sometime's they will keep going and fly into the ground, and if they die there then you can't loot them.

It's worth mentioning that these pests are extremely fast and virtually impossible to overrun, so if you aggro them while flying over the Cradle of the Ancients, you should immediately land and fight them at ground level.

This way you'll avoid being dismounted in midair and fall to your death and end up as a snack for coyotes and desert foxes.
