This is the mob that spawns when Curse of Doom kills someone and it's effect procs.
He can also be summoned by the "Ritual of Doom", which requires a full party to do and will kill one of your members in the progress. Dieing this way will not give a 10% durability loss.

As for the Doomguard itself, it's like a beefed Infernal. Not to mention it scares alot of people if this thing erects from a fallen teammate.

if you're a demonic sacrifice spec, you can summon and enslave this guy before a boss. It'll get you a pet and bonus damage without losing your buff.

this is the model for the doomguard. however this one is slightly different then the doomguard from ritual of doom, curse of doom doomguard will do vastly more damage before enslaved to everyone nearby.

It has been de-nerfed. Now the Ritual of Doom ability does not kill a party member and the Doomguard is auto-enslaved to you with a 15 minute duration. After which it simply disappears.

Dealing up to 1300 DPS the Doomguard is now a very viable pet to use in raids. Whenever the ritual is not on cooldown you can summon him for some extra DPS. Other than that he has great survivability, his HP pool seems to be around 40k. This is probably the most underrated tool in the warlock arsenal.

This Doomguard appears to apply Cripple to boss mobs and the boss mobs are not immune to it. I'm not entirely sure if it does the 45% entirely or if it goes down to 20% attack speed penalty. If the 45% attack speed penalty does apply, then the Doomguard has the most powerful boss debuff in the game.

Edit: It has been changed so that the Doomguards Cripple only reduces attack speed by 20%.

i got a doomguard but the screen shots i took wont let me see them on my compuer its not on. if u leave a mob with 4200 health or less when the mob dies after 1 mins it should resporn to be noted the enclave demon may not last the whole 4 mins so be on your guard as u might get done over by the demon u enclaved.

This is how you can get the skill "Ritual of Doom":

Aside from the Curse of Doom, warlocks also have a class quest to learn the Ritual of Doom, which is a guaranteed way to summon a Doomguard. However, it requires a party of five people to complete the summoning; one of the five will take a large hit to their health pool as a sacrifice. The quests are given by Daio the Decrepit in the Tainted Scar, the southwest area of the Blasted Lands where elite demons reside.

* The Prison's Bindings involves killing demons in Dire Maul East for drops. The demons come in groups of 2-4 and groups of up to 3 can be soloed with a little effort by warlocks since they can banish and enslave. Enter DM East through the back door (requires the ) and reset the instance once you have exhausted manageable groups.
* The Prison's Casing requires killing the elite demons in southern Winterspring for drops. These demons have a lot of health (~18k) and hit very hard, so the ideal way to do this quest is with assistance. It is possible to solo them through a combination of chain fearing and Curse of Doom procs, but as it takes a couple of minutes to kill 1 demon and the drop rate is close to 20%, this method is not preferred. It will hurt if a couple of your fears fail.
* After turning in both quests, Daio gives the quest Suppression, which asks you to capture a Doomguard Commander from the Tainted Scar with a quest item he provides. Among the demons in the area, the Commanders are found fairly easily, however finding one without Felguard bodyguards or other demonic allies can be difficult. Using the item on the demon is a channeled spell which must be held for 20 seconds. Damage done to the warlock does not interrupt the channel, but the commanders come with a War Stomp ability that will. There a few methods to accomplish this:
o Come with a tank and a healer. Have them tank it far enough from you that a war stomp will not affect you.
o Have a rogue stunlock.
o Have a hunter use a Freezing Trap. Be aware that it only lasts for 20 seconds (untalented) - wait for the traps cooldown and place a second trap between the already-trapped demon and the Warlock channeling the spell.

For everyone's general knowledge, if a priest casts levitate on your summoned Doom Guard, he will fly in the air and flap his wings when he is stationary.

As of Patch 3.1 the doomguard and the infernal are very much worth it.

They are a fine boost to DPS, they also do not attack raid members anymore, they simply despawn after the timer runs out.

the doomguard stays for 15 mins while the infernal stays for 1 min.

If this pet is summoned via Curse of Doom he's pretty resistance to Enslave Demon (like broking the spell after 1 min or less). Some people say to cast CoE before enslave, but after that you can remove the curse or need the curse stay on it?

I have always been a bit disappointed with WoW's doomguards... in WC3 they looked like Tauren with wings, which played off the classic representation of demons, these however look like something from runescape.

Doomguards are, simply put, summonable tanks. I summoned mine in UP heroic for the for time. It prettymuch tanked Ymiron for the real tank (who settled for off-tank XD), LOL.

From what I can tell, DGs are permanent in instances so long as you don't go too far from them (Obviously don't use it in Ony 'cause of random teleports) and I summon mine to either help DPS/Tank/Aggro or to just aggrivate the ^%&# outta the Horde in AB or WSG. I've never been killed in AB whenever I summon my Doomguard.

If you spec Demonology the buffs work all the same. Nothing scares the %$^& outta even seasoned PvPers than having to fight a Metamorphed Warlock who also has a DG summoned. It's WORSE than being Death Gripped 5x in a row by DKs, lol. Of course, the 30 min CD and the five-player summoning requirement are two major drawbacks to using RoD but if you're in a 10 or 25-man raid that usually takes awhile (ICC, BT, TOC, Kara, Naxx or Ulduar) you should be able to get in at least two before you finish the run.

I HIGHLY reccommend ALL WARLOCKS GET THIS SUMMON. It's easier to get at 80 (for you can easily solo the quest chain) but if you're level 60 and have level 80 friends willing to help you out it makes leveling to 80 a bit easier.

To get a Doomguard for a pet, you must:

Visit Daio the Decrepit]
Do The Prison's Bindings and The Prison's Casing
That will unlock another quest called https://www.wowhead.com/cata/quest=7583.

When u complete , you will have the ability to summon your new pet via https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=18540.

Been levelling my lock as destruction in northrend and this guy is my favorite pet, he really is a kiters best friend, need to keep an eye on the enslave duration though thats half the fun of it imo.

Bind his war stomp to an easy to reach key and no mob will ever get near you.

He is like a spider for the marksman loving solo hunter, once you've learned to handle him you'll never look back.

If Saurfang would create a party to summon a Doomguard, the one who is sacrificed would have his account deleted, computer crashed... and all others would be insta-cleaved for 1337 damage for not losing this russian roulette...

if u get lucky and cast curse or doom on some hunters pet in a BG it will kill your enemys quick. and anyway people are afraid of doomgaurds because they are huge and do ungodly damage. i used one in tyrs hand and i was able to take out pretty big mobs. if you are worried about it turning on u but u want to have one do this.... spec for enslave demon , if it turns on u banish it and enslave it again. this is by far one of the coolest pets in the game

The problem with the doomguard is there is only 2 ways to get it...get a RARE summon from a curse of doom...but mind you its rare and then you have to enslave it once its summoned. Or quest for it. Once you get the spell "Ritual of Doom" you can summon it with a few requirements: 1 Demonic Figurine (1g) and 4 other people to help you channel. Then one of the 4 will die once the doomguard is summoned and when its summoned you dont even have control of it you have to enslave. It also has a 1hr cool down.

i saw a undead warlock once with a doomguard he used curse of doom on a strider neer the xroads it was sweet untill it turned on the lock lol it was funny after that he enslaved it again and unleashed it in the xroads o my god havoc and destruction haha

Doomguards are more for instances, in battlegrounds they take 4 people and you have to sacrifice a person with a requirement of a demonic figurine. They also can snap out of enslavement and attack your raid group so they aren't permanent. They aren't that bad but mostly for raids not battlegrounds.

ok the 3rd pick is from me. every doomguard IS NOT lvl 60. it's ALWAYS YOUR LVL! you get the curse of doom at lvl 60 but that picture isnt photoshoped or anything. i wouldnt try THAT hard to trick you about something so dumb. well concider this as a EDIT cuz doomgaurds hit like crazy, there REALLY hard to enslave and they are EPICALLY RARE! so when u see one, dont kill it. enslave it. i've ben trying to get one of these for a long time. but it's best to have em to show off and kill something very strong real quick. because he WILL disapear on you or kill you. he has high stamina and hit very well. my opinion is, he's much better than any old felguard. so might want to edit this, making it lvl 60-70 since u get the curse of doom AT 60. i dont know what it drops, because it either would have killed me, or ran away. NEVER RELY ON THIS PET. sometimes it knocks out of the enslavement and disapears. this is greengoogler. PEACE!

Doomguards arent impossible to get u just have to get lucky with your spell to get one. once summon remember to enslave it or else they dont come back to easily cause they are ahrd to find.

Getting the Doomguard to pop with CoD is np. I enslave it np. But it always breaks loose after a minute or less. Is there anyway to get this to stay the entire length of the enslave spell?

since the new patch i see thats its really easy to get now since the COD is 100% chance to get doomgaurd after the minute long wait. ONLY use it if u WANT the doomgaurd cuz its better just use 2 COA instead cuz it does more damage within 2 u put on. plus u most likely kill whatever your focuz is on before a meer minute. it USED to be really good with strengthin curse but they took that out since the WOTLK patch and made it into a cool down talent =( so there's really no use for it cuz there is no way to seriously strengthin it. so use it with caution and only for doomgaurd. using it on a boss or somethin is a waste and as soon as it hits the threat it gives: your dead. USE COD ONLY FOR DOOMGAURD.

I summoned my first DG a few days ago with a lvl 73 pally in my party when i enslaved it it broke free in about 30 seconds and the pally and i killed it really quick not sure of its funtionality as of yet but will keep using it until I master its abilities.

well NOW u only get COD at lvl 70 by trainer no less. u can see my guy as a lvl 62 with a doomgaurd. now u can summon the doomgaurd by putting the COD on a monster that gives exp or doing the sacrifice ritual the lock gains by quest. my advice IS NOT how to fail lock guide its more about guide lines and options. its not to say how to fail epically and die afterwards the way u make it seem. the doomgaurd is a good pet and very powerful and i dont know if you can keep it enslaved long enough so u ca nrely on it to keep threat or dps. in my opinion the doomgaurd is jsut for person fun and curiosity. sure it does better damage then any other demon. but that just means you can get your ass handed to you if your not careful.

I am leveling up an Undead Warlock atm as an alt, and im j/w, lets say i was doing WSG, when it says "1 minute left till WSG starts" i decided to use the Ritual with my friends, now lets say i died, would i be resurrected outside? b/c if so.. that's a fast flag capture. Please someone Answer this ASAP, idk if its even possible to use the ritual during that time.

It might be a great summon, but hey.. I party member is sacrificed.. :P Hope Im not the one who does. xD
