I know this screams healer trinket, but what do you mages think about its uses, arcane in particular? I know we would be better off with say, an upgraded version of https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=48724. Just asking the opinion of others.

That aside this most likely (as of 12-19-2009 unconfirmed) drops from Lord Marrowgar 10man heroic. Is this version going to be on a 1-min cd or a 2-min cooldown like the ilvl-251 version?

The use is worth about 152 mana per 5s however the Solaces are both better.
The Resurgence gives Int, which helps Arcane in a lot of ways that a /use for mana does not. This is a healer trinket.

This comes from Marrowgar heroic mode.

This trinket is the heroic version of Sliver of Pure Ice.
It has 20 more spell power and restores 205 more mana per use, however according to the current data, its cooldown is 1 minute less, making its effective mp5 152.5 or less as opposed to 67.7 or less for the normal version.
If the cooldown is right, this trinket will be very good for all healers, otherwise its slightly lackluster compared to something like Solace of the Fallen considering the change in ilvl.

I've read a couple diferent places that have said this is a typo and that the CD is actually 2 min even on the Heroic version. Making this a POS compared to either Solace. Anyone know for sure?

I'm curious as to whether or not the cooldown is a mistake. Every other heroic mode item is just normal mode item plus a few stats. this one is plus a few stats and half the cooldown on the use.

Until we actually get to run heroic mode fights on live I'd be willing to bet that this trinket has a 2 minute cooldown, or the normal mode version also has a one minute cooldown.

This is generally better than heroic solace if it doesn't get nerfed to 2 minutes (I don't see why it would as its higher ilvl), but something to take into consideration when calculating mp5 figures in a vacuum..

Fights don't end in perfect 60s intervals. A 4.5-5m fight like festergut for instance would see, at most, 4 uses of the trinket. I.e. 7320 mana / 4.5min = 135 mp5. 7320 mana / 5min = 122mp5. Whereas Solace will always produce a solid 144mp5.

So yes, under the most ideal of circumstances this will beat out H solace by a nose, but most of the time it will actually see less mana return. Something to keep in mind when moving to this for 10 extra spellpower. Ideally you would use this AND heroic solace as your regen trinkets if mana is the issue.

Keep in mind as fight length increases the disparity between the two closes. 18 minute lich king fight, for instance, with 17 uses is 31110 mana / 1080s = 144mp5. Most ICC fights aren't longer than 5 minutes though.

There is indeed an error with the data mined item, the cooldown on live realms is 2 minutes.

Just pointing out, not saying either the Normal or the Heroic Mode trinket is better than Solaces, but the Solaces have a ramp up time, and a chance for the buff to fall off. For example, Proffessor Normal mode, transitions, it's almost always going to fall off. It falls off on death, It falls off on heroic sindragosa if you get unchained magic. So while i do agree that solaces are still better, they are not perfect by any means. And in some fights, I would say Sliver may be of better use, at least the 264. (Potentially falls off if you get MCed on LDW)

I Recently got this trinket, and have a macro set up to use it alongside my beacon (Pally healer). However, when i switch to the heroic version from my regular, my macro gives me the "You must equip that item to use it" message. Anyone have an idea of what the proper macro is to use the heroic version?

/use Sliver of Pure Ice

Some idiot rogue just looted this to a mage when all 3 healers rolled on it. Then he looted Midnight Sun Heroic to a lock when 2 healers rolled on it. Needless to say, all the healers dropped group for Saurfang.
