The 133.33 AP (if used constantly) this gives is actually still inferior to the 150 AP (again if used constantly) provided by the Beserker's Call (off Zul'jin).

If this one is anything like it's weaker counterpart, it does not break stealth when used. I use it before pouncing quite often.

this trinket is currently bugged on live (2.4.0), it only has a 12s duration (same as blue version) despite the tooltip saying 15s.

edit: the buff ticks down from 15s but disappears once it reaches 3s remaining

likely a ripple effect from this happy little undocumented change:
doesn't die anymore at the end of the timer and just fades away.

for those of you concerned with it breaking stealth, it doesn't. but, using this macro will allow you to trigger it as soon as you hit hemo:

/startattack

/cast stealth
/cast Hemorrhage

what it does is stealth you if you aren't in combat, start autoattacking if you're unstealthed, hemo if you are in combat, and use the trinket if you are in combat. very, very useful. every 1.5 minutes, you re-use your trinket, so it should always be up.

It's also important to note that if you're doing the daily in hellfire where you kill 8 fire guys to charge your living blaze or whatever, using this trinket will unsummon your living blaze forcing you to start all over again.

30 sec less on the CD too :) if only i was a JC

True the cooldown is 30 seconds less, but the buff duration is also 5(technically 8 due to a bug) seconds shorter. The original poster is correct in saying that the other one has better sustained DPS, if you can get access to it.

Curious, the item doesn't have a JC Requirement to use, only that you were JC to craft it being that it's bop. Does this suggest if you drop JCing you can still use it?

I was really bored...and came up with something interesting when comparing Shadowsong to Beserker's Call. For a fight that lasts 91-119 seconds , Shadowsong (Avg. AP of 173.0834) is better than Beserker's Call (Avg. AP of 159.8125). This is due to Shadowsong's lower CD (90 seconds) compared to Beserker's (120 seconds) which allows for 2 uses of Shadowsong's buff compared to the 1 use from Beserker's Call. Of course for fights any longer than that Beserker's call is better. The differences vary depending on the length of the fight and the number of uses you can get out of the trinkets.

Here are some additional times (I included Bloodlust Brooch because it out performs Shadowsong at 179 seconds):

At 119 seconds here are the numbers...
Shadowsong (~ 160 AP)
Beserker's Call (~ 150 AP)
Bloodlust (~ 118 AP)

At 179 seconds here are the numbers...
Beserker's Call (~ 170 AP)
Bloodlust (~ 134 AP)
Shadowsong (~ 133 AP)

At 225 seconds here are the numbers...
Beserker's Call (~ 154 AP)
Shadowsong (~ 144 AP)

Of course for PvP, being a rogue there is no contest - Shadowsong. And as I said at the beginning of this post, "I was really bored..."

Note to Blizzard: For arena please consider offering a counter-balance for the human racial - perception (10 levels of stealth detection). As this is grossly OP to all non-human rogues. Yes, I am a night-elf rogue with my itty-bitty racial of +1 level of stealth, LOL!

Perhaps Shadowsong can provide +5-10 levels of Stealth when equipped vs. Stealth Detection. In otherwords it negates or greatly reduces the effectiveness of stealth detection on the bearer.

So i saw this trinket the other day for sale for Jewelcrafters at SSO and thought I'd drop Mining drop the necessary cash to lvl JC to 375 and make this trinket. However as I was reading the comments and people were talking about the fact that this trinket comes with a noncombat pet. Now does this pet only come out when I pop the trinket for the extra ap or is it constantly there when I have it equipped. Being a rogue that would make this item extremely annoying, despite its stats.

As of 2.4.3 the buff from this item can no longer be dispelled.

Something that might want to be considered if you have the means, https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=35694 Khorium Boar and this trinket together. The AP is ungodly and for me, a hunter, it is unsurpassed. Total of equipped 164 AP. Not bad.

The khorium boar can also be used on BGs. I've defended Draenei Ruins in Eye of the Storm by myself in PvE gear lol against the one or two horde that always show up in their PvP gear.

And just for the hell of it, I may get a non-combat pet. This, the khorium boar, my lion and a white kitten from Lil Timmy in SW, for 15-30 secs, I'll have a friggin zoo!

But just out of curiosity, can this trinket and the Berserker's Call be equipped and used together? Pop their use at the same time?

Just made this trinket this morning and noticed something interesting about it while doing SS dailies.

If you pop this trinkets use effect while you're doing the blast the gateway SS daily quest in HFP (the one where you summon the little fel spark), the panther pet that the trinket spawns on use will automatically dismiss your fel spark.

Took me a while to figure out where my spark kept going.

I made the Khorium Boar at the same time and tested it with the fel spark, the boar does not dismiss the spark, just the panther.

Yes, they do stack, and no, they can't be used at the same time.

Edit: Damnit, they nerfed +stealth items, you'll no longer be quite the shady character with these equipped I'm afraid.

Got bot this and Empyrean Tortoise, if I where to drop JC, would I lose the ability to use this trinket? I figure I won't since it doesn't say requires Jewelcrafting 375, like the Alch stones or the Engineering goggles.

I'm trying to decide if this will be better dps than https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=29383 while raiding as an Enhancement Shaman. It has 8 more static ap, which is nice and then the amount that you get from the use ability works out to be about the same. The problem I have with the 15 secs as opposed to 20 secs on the Brooch is that I usually will pop my trinket when I pop Bloodlust + Drums of battle. Has anyone pondered this before?

A very powerful trinket with a short cooldown, which is great since it's always ready when starting fights.

This trinket has 15 second duration, 1 min 30 sec cooldown = 16.7% uptime if constantly popped.
Most trinkets have 20 second duration, 2 min cooldown = 16.7% uptime if constantly popped.

As you can see, you have to constantly pop this trinket to make it useful (well, that's true for most trinkets but even more for this one since it has a short duration and short recharge, making it important that you keep using it to offset the 5 second shorter duration).

So what's the best way to ensure it's ALWAYS used WHENEVER it's ready?

Macroing of course! Simply create macros for ALL your most common attacks and add the following code to each attack macro:

/use 13 or /use 14 (13 = top trinket, 14 = bottom).

This will ensure that it's always used when the cooldown is up. I have 100% efficiency on my trinket thanks to macroing, no time is wasted and my DPS loves it.
That's the good stuff, now for the bad stuff!

This trinket, whenever used, summons a small panther next to you for the duration of the trinket. This was cute at first, until I realized what a HORRIBLE nuisance this is. I've been using the trinket ever since it was released, and am really tired of it by now. Reasons being:

- You can NEVER have a non-combat pet at your side if you have this trinket, so forget all the pets you've collected, it's no point in summoning them because they're GONE the minute you pop this trinket. It goes like this: Pop the trinket, panther comes out (replacing your current non-combat pet), trinket time runs out, panther disappears, your old non-combat pet is now gone.

- More serious effects include actually breaking some quests! When doing the Shattered Sun Offensive quest Blast the Gateway, you are asked to summon a small "Sizzling Ember". This "Sizzling Ember" is a non-combat pet that you have to keep for the duration of the quest, to allow it to charge up energy and the unleash it on a portal to destroy it. Imagine what happens when you have Shadowsong Panther macroed to all your attack macros. That's right, ANY attack you use breaks this quest, spawns a panther and removes you "Sizzling Ember", forcing you to re-do the quest.

- Recently, while questing in Lich King I had MASSIVE problems completing the quest The Might of the Horde where you are meant to go to a village, summon (use) a banner in your inventory which summons a flag on the ground, then defend this flag for 2 minutes so that it's not killed. I tried and failed this quest 8 times, the flag kept disappearing. Finally I read the comments for the quest and noticed a person saying that the flag counts as a non-combat pet. He was right, I had to go into my spellbook and defend the flag just by clicking spells, to prevent the Shadowsong Panther going off and despawning my flag, breaking the quest.

- By now it's obvious that the trinket has drawbacks, the really annoying one being that you can never have non-combat pets with you. It's pointless and futile to try since they'll get despawned every 90 seconds thanks to this trinket popping. Sure, the panther is cute but I really hate it by now. I can live with it despawning certain quest items, but being COMPLETELY unable to have non-combat pets is more than a little annoying. Why would we even collect non-combat pets if we can't use them?

- This doesn't matter much now that lich is out and better trinkets are sure to come, so these problems will soon be a thing of the past... that is, as long as the NEXT jewelcrafting trinket doesn't pop a non-combat pet too. ARGH! ;-)

me and another rogue were performing some distance checks with this trinket, we both had 3/3 MoD and 2/2 HS, i was a night elf, and he was a human, we noticed NO DIFFERENCE with this trinket equiped, also the stealth detection goggles did NO DIFFERENCE (as per mentioned in currently verified patch notes); was this stealth nerfed? (no pun intended).
