Warrior weapon! Note that the speed on this gun is 1.9 which is very fast, ideal for pulling. To my knowledge, it's the first gun that is directly aimed at warrior tanks. Interesting.

After Quiver bonus this gun comes down to a 1.65 attack speed, that means you have .15 seconds to thread in your Steadies. The slightest amount of lag would mess up the rotation, and even if you were in a lag free environment, you would still need to be hitting your macro (I wouldn't even considering trying to use this gun without a Cast Seqeunce macro) with almost perfect timing.

If a single haste effect procs your speed is going to be dropping under the GCD.

Shame this isn't a throwing weapon. Those are superior for pulling and don't require ammo taking up precious (especially for warriors) bag slots. Wish the itemizers at Blizzard played their own game.

I have this gun for just one use, i love the speed an dmg!
(+10% is -0.19sec, 5% is -0.095)
With Rapid Killing the speed is 1.14 sec (+40%)

With Rapid Killing and Heroism (70 Draenei Shammy) its 0.57 sec (+70%)

With Rapid Killing + Heroism + 15% Ammo Pouch its 0.285 sec!!!! (+85%)

And a haste potion is what? 38% speed so rounding that to 40% it would be -1.145 or something like that

Any Warrior in Black Temple will have at least +12 Stam socketed into their crafted gun, more than likely +15 Stam. Which brings the difference to:

Man you're not a tank !! Because if you was you would know that at this point in the game you would have more then enough avoidance, if you get yo much avoidance you wont get any rage and then you cant keep aggro and thats equal to a wipe !! You shouldn't have strong opinions about things you dont know

Is this gun to fast for farming for a hunter with a good auto/steady rotation?

Its seems like it would be good for pvp and farming as a hunter personally.

the +dodge would not be incredibly good for a tank imo.

It is a great tank weapon with a fast speed and good stamina and dodge rating. Hunters should look for something else this gun don't have good hunter atributes.

Any tank in the position (bt guild up to gorefiend), will be SET on stamina--
avoidance is much much much more useful in T6 raiding (than the 11 extra stamina assuming anyone would waste a 15stmgem in gyro-balanced.) This is simply because 1% dodge rating means more than 110 health. period. I've done much experimentation with avoidance and stam/armor on my warrior (i use this gun), and have concluded that once a tank has reached the bt level, avoidance is more useful. To put it in perspective- which saves the raid more often-- the tank surviving with <110hp, or the tank taking no damage at all by dodging it?

This gun is a must have for tanks going into sunwell. Because of the sunwell radiance buff on all sunwell mobs tanks need to stack as much avoidance as possible. The gyro-balanced khorium destroyer may be great for stam but I'd gladly sacrifice the stam for as much dodge as in on this gun!

Parry being the best is a yes and no situation. Parrying an attack IS better than dodging it, for the reasons listed above. However, stacking parry rating is more expensive than stacking dodge.

~24 parry rating = 1% Parry chance, at 70
~19 dodge rating = 1% Dodge chance at 70

Therefore, given equal amounts of Dodge or Parry rating, dodge wins out. I've long contended that the Epic gems you get out of heroics should be changed to reflect this (i.e.:https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=30566 and https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=30563, dodge kinda wins out)

But again, parrying an attack is better than dodging it, hence the more expensive cost.

All of that aside, I have recently switched my Raid toon from Prot Warrior to Prot Pally, and desperately wish that Blizzard would give us something this flat out AWESOME to go in that relic slot...

Very helpful stuff there. It is true that the more you parry, the more you hit the mob and the more threat you generate, but it is also true that the mob will parry you more when you hit more often, resulting in you taking more damage.

I would also like to clarify that at this point i find myself never starved for threat, as i have an almost unlimited amount of rage whilst tanking these bosses.

And if for some reason you are really starved for rage at this point, then have a shaman give you flametongue or windfury, and pop out that 2.7 speed weapon (E.g: Dragonstrike) for higher devastate and heroic strike damage. Then again, i never had to do this due to how easy it is to keep aggro whilst the entire raid has salvation and other threat reducing talents/items, and whilst i have +2% threat enchant on gloves.

I am SV-Hunter and i tried to raid Sunwell with that Gun. With 4+/8 T6 and some little haste i reached a speed of 1.62. So i can rotate very well 1:1 with steady. Since we can build cheap shots, ammo isn't an issue :)

But the problem is: autoshot-hits are a little weak. Raidbuffed round about 500 so only the crits are usefull with 1200+. The steady-hits are normal, i haven't seen a big difference to the normally used Xbow of relentless strikes.

now you have to consider wether the raiddps-plus through expose weakness can top the more personal-dmg with a "normal" BM-spec.

Looks like this is the fastest ranged weapon useable by hunters in the Burning Crusade expansion. A hunter probably wouldn't want this though.

it's interesting to note that, in woltk hunter dps spreadsheet v75, this gun was rated 3rd (among tbc gears) after thor'idal and golden bow, and above everything else.

the only possible reason i could think of, is that since autoshot is unlinked, and faster weapon benefits more from ammo dps than slower weapon, this tanking gun may well surprise some ppl...

So i've been using this in Northrend and slaughtering everything as a dwarf BM hunter. got it for the collection but it's pretty sweet now that gun speed isn't as important. With Mammoth cutter bullets and the +15 dmg scope shouldn't this be completely awesome? Can somebody check their spreadsheets for this?

Also, faster weapon spd equals a larger number of crits and more procs from items (provided there's no hidden cooldown, do such items even exist?), so doesn't that benefit? Have specs been built around fast weapon speed?

Contrary to some of the misguided comments here, this is a frankly awful weapon for a hunter. The damage of your special shots is calculated from the weapon's damage, the slower weapon will have higher damage per shot and therefore much more damage from your specials.

Not that it really matters anymore since it's an old weapon! On a more relevant note, this would be pretty awesome for transmogrification in 4.3!

It may be the highest dps gun in the game, but the speed is too fast and the top-end damage is too low for me to want it on my hunter.

Why in the world would speed matter? Any tank that gets this isn't going to rely on the rifle to build aggro...

If dps doesn't wait for the mob(s) to start hitting/be hit by the tank, a gun isn't gonna make ANY DIFFERENCE AT ALL!

Any Guild that can get far enuff to ever see this beauty drop will have a pretty good idea of wich person (not neccisarily CLASS) should get it... its all about coordination, and to get that far you would KNOW wich guildie would use all the qualities of the gun to full effect =P

guys please if your in a guild who got this far for it to drop you must know that guild progrression is paramount.. im a lvl 70 hunter is a very good guild and i would all day pass this to a warrior ! if i needed it it will only be for pvp and not pve.. the warrior needs more stam ... i wouldnt pass to a rogues though

If some of the comments after my post from yesterday are from hunters, you define the term "&*!@#$%".

-This weapon for a hunter for pvp? Look at the DAMAGE RANGE not the dps. PvP is about BURST DAMAGE. Melmorta's Twilight Longbow puts out more top end burst damage than this ffs. Oh because it has a big plus to stamina it's pvp? NO. Get something with a big damage range, a + to crit rating and + to AP. PVP armor is designed with higher stamina and less AP and agility than pve gear. It isn't crucial that your wpn have stamina too unless you're under geared.

-Too fast for BM hunters with serpent swiftness, YES. Think of your autoshot like an unseen cast bar (you can get an addon btw). Now if you're a BM hunter with max in SS and have the consortium ammo pouch your wpn speed with this gun is 1.0. If you are any kind of hunter at all you try to work a shot in between your autoshot. By doing this you increase your DPS Well, 90% of the time for your rotation you're going to be using steady shot which has a 1.5 sec cast. Obviously you can't have a gun with 1.0 speed and cast steady shot with a 1.5 speed without one overriding the other. Since your steady shot will override your autoshot, your autoshot cast resets again without firing. This is called clipping your autoshot. YOU'VE JUST GIMPED YOUR DPS. Even a survivial or MM spec'd hunter worth his salt isn't going to take this weapon. MM's generally like to work 2 shots in between and Survivial is probably looking for all things with agility to give is raid better EW.

So for those of you so quick to flame, soak that in before you tell someone else to l2p 'cause I'm guessing you rarely see the inside of a 5-man much less a raid instance.

EDIT: I took out some of my snide comments after a CD period. My fellow hunters 95% of the ranged wpns out there are made for us. This is not one of them.

Dealing HIGH dps on a hunter is more complicated than most of people here think, thats why most of people dont see hunters high on the damagemeters. i dont care what other people say, its the ONLY fast weapon in END GAME. If you dont have a good reason to take this weapon over a warrior you should not be allowed to get it, if you suck with 3.0 weapons you will suck with this too.

a warrior relyin on the gun for initial aggro should consider takin a brain-pill, since the only function of the gun should be pullin folks towards warrior.

The amount of damage done barely has any influence, cuz if ye check yer threatmeter during a fight, the aggro obtained by the tank is huge compared to the initial shot.

Tanks don't need an epic blaster for damage, they need a blaster with epic tankin stats, which is exactly what this shooter holds

Definitely not a hunter weapon. Gread DPS but stats would only be good for a PVP hunter and i seriously doubt that a PVP hunter is gonna be doing Black Temple.

I don't know why people argue with anyone on this site. Any Hunter in a Raiding guild would never use this because of its speed. No matter how pretty the item is you would never waste the DKP for a downgrade in DPS.

People saying its nice for PvP forgets where this drops at, somewhere no one in Gladiator gear is going to be.

Ok to give some people who have no clue about Raiding efficiency This Item could be nice for a Marks or Survival hunter. 1.9 speed X .85 = 1.62 Base speed with Quiver for your autoshot. Steady shot has nothing to do Weapon dammage,Arrows, and scope dmg unless you use a crit scope. So from here you say how does one get the shot rotation to maximum Efficiency. You Get 7% In Haste Items which for Raiders is not difficult to get and that brings Autoshot down to 1.51....So from here you L2 Maketh Das Macro and your steady auto can basically fire at 2 shots per 1.5 seconds.....If you are really good you can mix an arcane shot being that it is an auto shot and per every 6 seconds get an extra shot in.....BTW when I am raid buffed my Base crit is 45% with my 4 piece of t5 having my steady shot at 50% with an occasional +10% crit bonus for Master tactician.....My crits never hit Below 2200 with Sunfury Bow while raid buffed.
Some people will try and argue that they can get an auto, arcane, multi shot, auto rotation and they certainly can but Multi shot is on a 12 second cool down and both shots cost tremendously more mana....

Not a hunter weapon. It's not like you're at lvl 48 with Hurricane OMGWTFBBQ so fast speed. With the introduction of Steady Shot in TBC. Using this gun, which is way too fast, have fun clipping Auto Shot and your DPS goes down the drain.

A hunter has stepped into BT would not want this weapon. Period. If he roll for it, he should be /gkick for being a $%^&*!.

Folks, take away the dodge bonus, stand back and look again.
BM in arena with this gun and the first apponent is dun, i dont care who you are. then its all about dps n interupts. Hello! As for the Bonus. if i want to get 2 or 3 more shots n stings in, then i wanna dodge one time. Ding! For those with questions about yur toon. experiment! we could all listen to the most popular guy on how to play a hunter, but then we'ld be a room full of guys dressed the same. Be Bold!

As a survival/mm hunter in PvP mode. This gun is absolute pwnage for the dodge rating alone.

As for too high speed? You can't be serious unless your talking Raid only. If that's the case, you might be correct, otherwise you don't know PvP too well.

Because if I see you using steady shot on me in PvP BG/Arena, I'm gonna laugh as I interrupt your aimed shots and steady shots with fast auto shots. ;)

I always get a laugh seeing someone using steady shots against other hunters in PvP. Fast speed also gets that Death Blow over some kill stealer hoping to take your glory by waiting for that one ganking final blow. lol! ;)

Survival == Dodge. Interrupts == high speed.

This gun actually can serve different purposes. It is not strictly "a tank weapon" or "a hunter weapon".

The stats make it give very nice tanking bonuses, which is great! Certainly for raids a tank that can use/need this certainly should get priority.

However, as someone previously mentioned, it does indeed have pvp use for hunters. For those that have ever been struck in some way while casting steady shot, I'm sure you recognize the problems with such an action in pvp, unless you stack ridiculous haste, or you get an opportunity where you can sit free to finish casting the shot. Of course, any hunter interested in pvp should get the survival skill that boosts your range by 6 meters, which can very much help in casting a steady uninterrupted.

The point is that if a tank truly needs this, then they should get priority. Even if the hunter uses a poor/moderate blue weapon (which they probably won't if they're in the raid group that can take out the boss that drops this!), the shot rotations will work out for better dps anyway. This can certainly be useful as a pvp hunter weapon, but it is absolutely NOT necessary to pvp well as a hunter, and is definitely a tanking weapon first and foremost.

I'm a level 70 hunter, and I would let any tank desiring this roll ahead of me.

You've got to be kidding me.
As a hunter, I wouldn't touch this gun with a 10 foot pole.

Don't even say you'd use this for PvP. If your guild does BT, PvP obviously isn't your guild's focus. And if PvP IS your focus, you should know that all this Dodge isn't going to protect you from melee classes killing you from behind while you're stunned.

If you farm BT SOOOOO MUCH that every gun wielding class in your Guild has this gun already, then by all means, take it and play around with it.
But by then, you should already know this isn't meant for you.
