Appears to be bugged.

I was present when two of the three towers fell and didn't receive the achievement. Neither did anyone around me or even the siege tank drivers.

If the way this achievement works is truly that you need to get the killing blow, the text of the achievement should be changed, because its misleading in its current form.

I think you may be right about getting the killing blow. Just got this achievement on my pally and both of the seige engines attacking that tower were placed there by me. No other seige engine was attacking that tower at the time so I definately had the killing blow.

I talked to a GM about this because I had the only surviving siege engine when the tower fell and still did not get the achievement. He confirmed that there is a problem with it but they were unsure what caused it and are looking into it.

Like others have said before me, your siege engine must get the killing blow. You can deploy siege mode and leave... you don't need to be at the tower to get the achievement so long as it's your siege engine that gets the killing blow. Of course this achievement can only be earned if your faction is attacking (not defending).

The strategy? You can take one engine for what will probably be a 50/50 chance (since someone will probably hop in the other one) at the achievement, OR you can go back and get the second siege engine before someone else does so you have a 100% chance at getting the achievement. I've found the best time to do this is in the morning or very late at night when the group is a bit smaller to give you the time you need to get that second siege engine. I've also found it best to accomplish this achievement on the East or West tower as the South tower is usually where all the siege engines end up after the other two towers are destroyed (smaller chance you'll get the killing blow), so be sure to queue early and get in the battle at the beginning. Also bear in mind that you can't even get in or use a siege engine until your faction has taken one of the three bases.

I just accomplished this achievement today. Below are some confirmations and strategies regarding this achievement.

Confirmation: You must get the killing blow (as others have mentioned). You do NOT need to be near the tower. I was literally halfway across Tol Barad when I got the achievement. As of 4.1, this is not bugged.

Strategy: In order to pilot a siege engine, you must have the Veteran buff, which is obtainable by getting an Honor Kill in Tol Barad during the current attacking session. (Note that defending players cannot attack the Siege Engine due to Thick Layer of Rust, an ability protecting the Sieges from being destroyed before they are even piloted.) Get Veteran as quickly as you can so that you may pilot a Siege Engine.

Quickly drive a Siege Engine up to a tower and deploy it. Sometimes the opposing team will earnestly try to destroy your deployed Siege, other times they will completely ignore it. Regardless, go pilot a second Siege Engine and deploy it against the same tower. (Siege Engines can usually be found in pairs, and players usually deploy Sieges to the nearest tower due to how slow they drive.)

This obviously is not the only strategy, just the one I used. You may be unlucky and have your Siege Engine destroyed by the opposing team, or another player may get the "killing blow" on the tower. But don't give up hope. Keep trying and this achievement will be yours!

I placed 3 siege engines today to south tower, someone placed the fourth and I didnt get it. Damn you rng.

Range indeed doesn't seem to be an issue. I parked one at West Spire and went on my merry way. Sometime later i got the credit at Slagworks - full diagonal across the map.

It's still bugged it seems. Tried to get it today on my lock but didn't work even though I parked 1-2 sieges at each tower and also stayed close but didn't get credit :/

this achievement is STILL bugged today november the 14th 2011.. I placed not one, not two but friggin THREE siege engines near the tower and did NOT get the achievement.. its been ONE YEAR now and they still havent fixed this..

Will they ever?

This is the only one I have left. Parked two at west tower. No achievement or meta. Bad enough I have to wait 4 hrs...now have to worry about rng too?

This is obviously a bit of speculation due to having no insight into the actual mechanics, but could it be possible that the game forgets you being the owner of a siege engine once you enter the next?

Has anyone tried putting up just one siege engine at one tower and not entering any others to see if that counts (while getting the killing blow of course)?

My theory is that if you put for example 3 siege engines on one tower, the game forgets that the first two were yours, and one of the first two gets the killing blow while the game sees you as owner of the third…

The Achieve -if it ever truly was bugged- is no longer. I parked 2 Siege Vehicles at West and received credit for the achievement as soon as the tower went down.
