Blizzard's attempt to make the criminally insane happy. I think for a long time we'll only be seeing the "elite" guilds getting any of these achievements done as they'll be the only ones with the resources capable. Should be interesting though; something to work for besides the kill itself.

Holy mother of God. Which sadistic mind in Blizzard thought of this one. The reward itself is nice, and this achievement is definitely going to separate casuals and hardcore raiders on a quite big scale. Good luck to folks that aim to get this and good hunting, and nice job to folks who obtain it in future since they are definitely going to be folks(Nihilum comes to mind, for example) who race to get this as quickly as possible.

Also, on top of this totally insane challenge, you get 'The Immortal' title too! I reckon plenty of guilds will be gunning for this, not only for the title, but for this epicly epic drake.

Given that this achievement is specific to the raids that will ship with WotLK, I would expect to see upgraded versions of this for Ulduar, Unnamed Raid and Icecrown as well.

And if this one is considered insane, I'd hate to think how hard the Icecrown one might possibly be.

Most of these are not going to be that hard to execute, they're simply going to require gear. Undermanning and doing it with a higher DPS or healing requirement will simply be a product of gear, and will probably be done fairly quickly once people have the items to do so at their disposal. So don't worry about people having the skill to do this - pity the poor healers who are going to have to heal people with too little FR on Sapphiron or getting hit like they're standing in an avalanche by Maexxna.

If you ask me, this seems like the perfect solution to the Casual vs. Hardcore problem. I mean, it's clear Blizzard made raid content in WotLK easier and more accessible than in BC, which is probably wise considering this way it caters to more players, but with this achievement, even high end guilds can find ways to keep themselves busy.

I believe this is a 'cheap' solution for dungeons.
I mean, it's much easier to design a mighty dragon, than making a whole new dungeon with lots of monsters and bosses.

this achievement has almost been completed by Ensidia on 10/12/2008 only one achievement is missing namely Heroic: Denyin' the Scion, but this one seems to be bugged.

You Dont Have an Eternity and The Immortal are the main toughies in this one. Both are very doable but will take practice and patience.

Oh and Denyin the Scion might be tough for some of you healers out there ;)

Spore Loser is not a part of this meta-achievement, despite being a Heroic Raid achievement. That's good news because that achievement is apparently broken right now.

Better complete this achievement while you still can because you won't be able to get the drake once the 3.1 patch goes live.

Bornakk posted the following on the Blizzard forums just a little while ago today:

When 3.1 goes live, the rewards for “Glory of the Raider” and “Heroic: Glory of the Raider” are being removed. These achievements will still be active, however, players will no longer receive the Plagued Proto-Drake or Black Proto-Drake for completing them. Similar to our decision to remove the Amani War Bear from Zul’Aman, the goal is to ensure that such mounts retain a degree of rarity in the game; and with raids progressing into Ulduar in patch 3.1, we feel obtaining the rewards for “Glory of the Raider” and “Heroic: Glory of the Raider” would be somewhat trivialized. For this reason we will be offering new fast mounts (310 speed) as rewards for completing select achievements associated with 10 and 25-player Ulduar.

I really think the removal is unnecessary. T5 and T6 made getting the Champion of the Naaru title super easy if you hadn't already gotten it. That wasn't removed until LK hit. The Amani War Bear was hard to get, but not this hard. Making these 2 mounts unavailable after such a short time is completely wrong. I know the point is to retain the rarity, but honestly. How many people are gonna do Naxx without anyone dying? How many are really gonna spend time in Maly trying to kill him in 6 min with their T8 gear? Not many.

The decision to remove it now makes these mounts as rare or more rare than Scarab Lord title. Having 1-3 on each server as a whole is more common than 25 people having these mounts on 1-2 servers (exaggerating, of course). Unless the stats on gear are an extreme jump in T8 gear, then some of these achievements are by no means trivialized. Especially since most require coordination and aren't as dependent on gear.

Attached is the Reins of the Black Proto-Drake (which apparently isn't on Wowhead), and it teaches you Black Proto-Drake.

I just logged in today and instantly was given this achievement. I will always missing the "Immortal" part of the achievement so it looks like Blizzard removed that part as of today.

it seems that the mount has been re-added on the MoP beta, those of us who got this achievement. but werent in time with finishing it before 3.1 came. now can get it also + everyone else who finished it since. this apperently was wrong, /sadface
